Sokka didn't want to kiss Suki in front of Princess Yue, during the night. So he waited and got to kiss her in the afternoon. Talking about manners, Sokka.
"The Serpent's Pass" had so many returning characters! We got Cabbage Man, Jet, Smellerbee, Longshot, Suki, and the pregnant woman and her husband (same couple from "Zuko Alone", the one where Zuko was contemplating stealing food from until he saw the woman was pregnant). On top of all that, we also got so many great moments too. Sokka being overprotective because of what happened to Yue, Aang closing himself off in order to cope with the loss of Appa, Toph being Toph, Aang and Katara teaming up to hold off the serpent, Aang becoming hopeful again, and the Sokka/Suki moment (Sokka deserves to be happy!!). "The Drill" was simply just epic! The teamwork with the Gaang and Aang's fight with Azula right before that awesome run up and down the wall? Just everything! And can't say this enough but Azula is one scary and formidable foe. She almost got Aang there if not for his quick thinking. Also, back in "The Serpent's Pass", Suki stated that there were rumors that the Fire Nation was building something big on the other side and that they didn't want anyone to know about it - well, now you know that it was the drill lol.
in my opinion, the best 2-part episode in the entire show. and this is competing against Winter Solstice, Siege of the North, Boiling Rock, and Day of Black Sun. It's just too epic imo
When Jet and Zuko are talking, Zuko says, "I've realized lately that being on your own isn't always the best path." He is referring to the events that took place in "Zuko Alone".
The fire nation has an advantage when it comes to technology mainly because of their element. They're experiencing a sort of renaissance due to their use of coal and their ease of use of such discoveries. Think similar to some countries taking a huge leap forward due to discovery of Oil while other countries were behind with coal etc. Edit: They were also building/transporting the drill on the other side of the serpent's pass, this is why they were guarding it.
Actually the plans for the Drill can be seen in the Mechanist's room back in season 1. He had designs for the drill and the fire nation just finished it.
You know, Aang really impressed me here. Nowadays, protagonists tend to either not be as useful as other characters or just auto-win because of plot. I really felt like Aang earned the dub here.
Yo he really did earn this W. That’s why I love these two episodes. Aang’s whole attitude and demeanor doesn’t fuck around. “I’m the Avatar, take me to whoever’s in charge.” First time he’s ever been that confident.
Well to a good degree, but i mean it was straight up plot that Azula screwed so much around after she knocked him out(that Azula walked up to him just to put him against the wall seemed pretty unnecessary).
13:44 Actually the design for the Drill came from the Mechanic in Season 1: Northern Air Temple. You can see him working on it on his desk when Aang enters his office. Pretty dope Oh edit! In fact the general in charge of the drill in this episode is the same fire nation general who was bribing the Mechanic and attacking the Northern Air Temple in that episode!

13:40 See war inspires technological innovation and the fire nation, being a series of volcanic islands and very industrial, is very rich in ore and iron and given their skill set, they are unique suited to develop new technology like giant drills
Also, the Earth and Water Nations can make things with their element like the great architecture in the North Pole and Omashu, so they were not as driven to metalwork

I know y’all have finished this, but I think you really misjudged Ba Sing Se Jet. For him to notice Fire Benders trying to sneak into Ba Sing Se is pretty suspicious. He was really acting with good intent. The only issue is that, because he had no proof, he began to look obsessive and it wasn’t a good for him in the long run

The Sea Serpent on the other hand, is much much more aggressive and hostile than the Unagi is. While the Unagi isn’t tough enough to tackle large Fire nation ships or fleets, the Sea Serpent of Serpent’s Pass has and will attack and destroy large ships by wrapping its long snake like body around the ship and probably killing the crew of the ship by eating them or just destroying the ship itself. The Serpent’s Pass is pretty much seen as a place nobody wants to go to, and the Sea Serpent is itself seen as a threat and danger to pretty much everyone including the fire nation. So why has nobody ever kill the Serpent? The answer to that? Killing the Serpent is impossible to do because the Sea Serpent is not only very large, but also very durable and has very strong thick armor that can’t be penetrated easily. The only weak points of its armor is likely near its neck and head as in the unaired script of the show, Zuko literally doe’s behead the Sea Serpent and burns its head, but that was the unaired script that wasn’t the final script that was eventually made for the show. So basically Sea Serpent is virtually impossible to kill because its as I said, its a Sea Dragon and in general Dragons have very durable armor in most depictions of regular Dragons. 3. Unagi has duller colors of gray and brown while the Sea Serpent has bright colors of greens and blues. 5. Unagi despite being very large, it is probably a bit smaller than the Sea Serpent as the Unagi doesn’t seem to like dealing with large fleets and probably not very durable compared to the Sea Serpent.
13:50 bruh, you want to tell me they only have to find stuff? They literally have tanks, full metal ships, floating metal prisons, they order a guy to build a flying baloon for them, but they had to find the information about the drill?
@Trashthlete They started that world's industrial revolution. They're firebenders, on a series of volcanic islands rich in iron ore, and have been aggressively at war for a century. They have all the ingredients that typically lead to an industrial revolution.
@@pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085 Water Tribes are tirbal, Earth Kingdom don't want to worry about war, Air Nomads (if not wiped out) are too carefree for any form of warmongering.
“I don’t believe it.” Jet isn’t talking to us, he’s talking to strangers. There is no reason to lie because they know nothing. And there’s no fire nation to hate in Ba Sing Se. So, yeah, he does want a new start. Now, hopefully obsessive little him doesn’t run into any secret fire benders in or near the city...
Anybody else consider how Katara and Toph could have Literally DROWNED TyLee in mud but specifically kept her above "water." TyLee was struggling to move because Katara was holding her in place ABOVE the mud.
13:37 Wow... The Library... I NEVER had that connection. I never even seen anyone make this connection before... That's just mindblowing. I really have to appreciate perceptive and smart reactors that see the little bits of information like that, it just enhances the experiences for everyone.
One of my favourite parts of the drill is the bit where Azula and Aang both get knocked off. Aang got helped by his friend (Momo) and Azula relied on her skills to help her. Interesting way to show their differences.
This is probably my 80th rewatch of atla but I just noticed that this episode specifically obviously shows Aang going through the stages of grief, last episode was denial (blaming toph), and clearly anger. This episode was mainly depression then acceptance at the end, but can’t think of any bargaining though.
In the Zuko Alone episode you can see the couple when the wife is pregnant. Zuko is about to steal their food until he sees the pregnant lady. It's crazy how interconnected it is!
Here’s the biggest thing in The Drill, Jet doesn’t know that Zuko and Iroh are the exiled prince and the former general who was able to penetrate Ba Sing Se, he just sees two fire benders. The Fire Nation as a whole, is seen as the enemy, monsters, not as people.
you will probably never read this but it was kind of a dark day for me and your joy and laughter and friendship made such a difference. Thank you for these reviews!
The designs for the giant drill were created by Teo's father (the engineer introduced in Episode 17 of Book 1 - "The Northern Air Temple"), in which there's a scene that shows a glimpse of its blueprints.
The run in with Suki is not as random as it seems, remember that in the “Avatar Day” the gaang spoke with the leader of Kyoshi village and he told them that the Kyoshi warriors had gone to help out with the war and such.
Can I just say Sokka has so much game! 😂 It’s also wild how much further advanced the Fire Nation is. They’re pretty much in their industrial revolution. Makes sense though when you’re oppressing and killing everyone else though. 😅
Actually if you look closely in the Book 1 episode "The Northern Air Temple" when Sokka and The Mechanist discover the rotten egg smell you can see the plans for the drill on his desk!
in the episode with that inventor with the wheelchair bound son you can see plans for the drill in his room. meaning he was the one that gave them the plans before he stopped working for them
Iron ore is pretty common. They could use their fire bending to turn the ore into steel, and whenever they run out of coal, they can use fire bending in place of the coal.
13:39 actually if you go back to the northern air temple episode with the inventor, you can see him clear his table off, and you see plans for the drill. Like most of their most impressive machinery it comes from the inventor.

I thought roshi was gonna follow up with that line what a missed opportunity 🤣🤣🤣
Azula is so entertaining to watch fight.
And Earth Benders are always impressive with their formations & creativity when bending.
13:50 bruh, you want to tell me they only have to find stuff? They literally have tanks, full metal ships, floating metal prisons, they order a guy to build a flying baloon for them, but they had to find the information about the drill?
Mechanist designed the drill
@@LucidOpticLab well that's my point, they designed and made it, not found the design
@Trashthlete They started that world's industrial revolution. They're firebenders, on a series of volcanic islands rich in iron ore, and have been aggressively at war for a century. They have all the ingredients that typically lead to an industrial revolution.
@@Katerine459 Not to mention that different from the Earth Kingdom and water tribes, they cannot use the elements to build things.
@@pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085 Water Tribes are tirbal, Earth Kingdom don't want to worry about war, Air Nomads (if not wiped out) are too carefree for any form of warmongering.
YESSS FINALLY TWO EPISODES IN ONE PLS DO THIS EVERY TIME
You blessed us with not on 1 but 2 episodes?!?! I love you
Im so happy im rewatching the show through all y’all’s eyes. It’s such a nice experience seeing ppl get excited off the show 🥺❤️
Well we finally came to the episode 14 where everybody had a childhood trauma
I love running into these reactions while stoned 😂😂
I thought i was the only one xD
JO’JO’S AINT GAY 😂😂 turned on my tv and it was the first recommendation
The way Azula straight flies after Aang delivers that final blow always kills me ☠️
And the durability of these kids is insane, that would've completely crushed even a peak human rugby pro XD.
And just when i was thinking “nothing good is on youtube right now”
Same , was gonna go back to my binging and then I see this gem here ^^
"and then she cartwheeled away"
**WHEEZE**
I love how everyone who reacts to Avatar says Naheed’s catchphrase, “This is not a kid’s show”
It’s was more like an annoying broken record than a Catchphrase
"The Library"
Yo, how smart is your girlfriend
Might be the influence of The Inventor's designs that War Minister Qin was extorting from him to leave the Northern Air Temple settler's in peace.
Bro she is CLUTCH
@@Zombiewithabowtie You're right. In the Northern Air Temple episode, you can see the Mechanist had the plans for the drill laid out in his office.
Was definitely not from the library but a good prediction.
Lol
DOUBLE EPISODES 🔥
I'm grateful but how you gonna do these as a 2 parter but not the library/desert
@@naruto4685 bc these two episodes are labeled as a 2 parter called "the secret of the fire nation"
Riiight. I forgot about that.
@@Joey_1999 thanks for the information 👍
Lot a sexual innuendos for the drill episode 😂
Jayvoun Arnold hahahhahaha! ‘Just the tip’ 😭😂
I've never heard so many innuendos in one episode lol
22:45 by far one of my top 5 coolest moments from this entire show 🙏🏿🙏🏿👌🏾👌🏾 greatness
“Those guys are firebenders”
“And what are you gonna do about it Jet?”
I never really thought about it like that🤣
Anybody else consider how Katara and Toph could have Literally DROWNED TyLee in mud but specifically kept her above "water." TyLee was struggling to move because Katara was holding her in place ABOVE the mud.
13:37 Wow... The Library... I NEVER had that connection. I never even seen anyone make this connection before... That's just mindblowing. I really have to appreciate perceptive and smart reactors that see the little bits of information like that, it just enhances the experiences for everyone.
Lmaoo damn RUclips is way behind on Patreon they at the end of Korra season 2 😂
Damnn for real? What's the cheapest tier that I can catch up on?
10 dollars
10$ for full reactions 2. 3 episodes every Tuesday
@@greatestleafshinobi6313 what episode are they on with Haikyuu?
@@tariqueanderson9240 Avatar is for $5 a month.
Fun fact. In the northern air temple ep, you can actually see the mechanic working on the blueprints for the drill. Cool they teased it since book 1
12:57 The Normies flashbacks intensify
Lol suraj
One of my favourite parts of the drill is the bit where Azula and Aang both get knocked off. Aang got helped by his friend (Momo) and Azula relied on her skills to help her. Interesting way to show their differences.
This is probably my 80th rewatch of atla but I just noticed that this episode specifically obviously shows Aang going through the stages of grief, last episode was denial (blaming toph), and clearly anger. This episode was mainly depression then acceptance at the end, but can’t think of any bargaining though.
You know she's blushing hard when it shows through that much makeup
I got teleported back when Roshi said “this is not a kid show” 😂
"Where did they get the funding for that drill?"
Me: War.
Sheera just big brained tf outta all of us...13:44
lol ok... but that's incorrect lol. the answer is not the library. it's from the mechanist in the northern air temple
you will probably never read this but it was kind of a dark day for me and your joy and laughter and friendship made such a difference. Thank you for these reviews!
De moon 🌚 she’s watching me , bro I died 😂
The designs for the giant drill were created by Teo's father (the engineer introduced in Episode 17 of Book 1 - "The Northern Air Temple"), in which there's a scene that shows a glimpse of its blueprints.
That intro!!!!! Its still the illest intro I've ever seen
Watching people react to this show for the first time really is the best, I love how hyped they get, keep up the good shot y’all ☺️
The run in with Suki is not as random as it seems, remember that in the “Avatar Day” the gaang spoke with the leader of Kyoshi village and he told them that the Kyoshi warriors had gone to help out with the war and such.
“We’re gonna build a wall and the fire nations gonna pay for it” such an underrated joke by Lupa 😂👏🏾
22:33 when the music starts still literally chills
Can I just say Sokka has so much game! 😂
It’s also wild how much further advanced the Fire Nation is. They’re pretty much in their industrial revolution. Makes sense though when you’re oppressing and killing everyone else though. 😅
Nice reaction.
As to the drill... I think you can see schematics for it on the inventor's workshop back in season 1.
Actually if you look closely in the Book 1 episode "The Northern Air Temple" when Sokka and The Mechanist discover the rotten egg smell you can see the plans for the drill on his desk!
9:41 the added “sound effect” killed me 💀 💀
8:42 "...The moon... She's watching..." BRUH I'M DEAD X,D
Double episode Avatar reaction: exists
Me: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
(Also Shera worried about Momo was so adorable lmaoooo)
in the episode with that inventor with the wheelchair bound son you can see plans for the drill in his room. meaning he was the one that gave them the plans before he stopped working for them
Fun fact: they are the same couple that zuko almost robbed a few episodes ago when he was alone.
Iron ore is pretty common. They could use their fire bending to turn the ore into steel, and whenever they run out of coal, they can use fire bending in place of the coal.
16:22 gets me EVERY. TIME.
My man really said “you talk too much” and went for seconds
11:15 “this is where we part ways” you are wutless
13:39 actually if you go back to the northern air temple episode with the inventor, you can see him clear his table off, and you see plans for the drill. Like most of their most impressive machinery it comes from the inventor.
