Might have been easier putting the belt on if you had loosened the tension bolts on the alternator first, fitted the belt and then realigned the tension on the alternator to take up the slack, but each to their own. Also many times after putting a new belt on and retensioning the bearings sometimes fail on the water pump, just a heads up. The awning was a welcome surprise for the condition it was in, nice one.

Well done Tim. I'm really enjoying seeing you getting moved into the mansion. You deserve a bit of space and comfort. Thanks for keeping me entertained over the last 3 years. Looking forward to you adventures in the mansion. Take care.
There's an adjustment on the alternator tim so be careful the belt should have about an inch slack when you push down on it. If its to tight it will bugger up your water pump and alternator bearings great video
@@SocksWithSandals Mine used to squeal like a pig in an abattoir when my leisure battery was low, the belt finally snapped. This happened as I got off the boat in Scotland while heading to England four years ago. A truck garage mechanic fixed it, replacing with a new belt. He needed to tighten it surprisingly tight he said to stop it from squealing and to stop excessive vibration while charging the low batteries at the time. It never gave me any problems since, even though I was concerned about the alternator bearings and water pump tbh; it's the same alternator since I got the van six years ago. I got a new water pump recently, and only because I replaced the timing belt. Anyway, you should be fine, you're going for a good service shortly anyway, Tim. @@SocksWithSandals Thank you, Tim! I'm really looking forward to seeing your subscriber count and views soar soon. You've worked hard, and deserve it in my book!
The engine sounds much better on start-up than when you first got it. That oil is thinning, and getting around, now that you're driving. Buy another Alternater belt just in case of damage, cheap part to have on stand by. Getting the freedom back!
I am absolutely delighted for you Tim and I have to say the way you put that belt on was really class and I love that reversing camera I must get for my van. I'm glad you're starting to feel happier in yourself well done Tim.
alternator belt replacement was epic, your on a roll ,the improvements yer making em look easy, its come a long way in a short time, rolling and charging ,reverse cam is quite neat ,when diesel heater is in your well sorted, now its a home to enjoy and use well done on getting down the jobs so rapid and great timing, for heating always have a back up plan in winter ,its grim when its bitter cold and no heating, a ex army goose down sleeping bag with a hot water bottle ,youll be cosy 👌cheers sam
You can lose match fitness if you're not doing stuff like this all the time. Fortunately this motorhome renovation has kept me active faffing around for hours and hours every weekend.
He's only gone and done it.... Nice one! With the awning, you have one leg at each end of the awning, I think the legs are supposed to be attached even when the awning is stowed but perhaps something has broken off. You can get spare parts for stuff like that.
respect getting any alternater belt back on without using the adjustment screws (which i know you couldnt access) didnt think it would be possible , adapt n overcome :)
Well done Tim, good to see you winning the battle. Brilliant fan belt trick and to film it all as well, I don't know how you do it ? I will nod off tonight with that image of the fan belt jumping into place. Amazing !
I just had my phone on the ground underneath the engine looking up. Used a battery pack lamp for extra contrast. I won't watch van life channels where they just set in the driver's seat and say, "Swapped the alternator belt, that was fiddly" without bothering to film it.
@@SocksWithSandals You should keep your filming techniques secret or the other van life channels may start to copy you ? lol Good to see you protected your eyes, you only have one pair ! The alternator tensioner was inaccessible. I have a lot of work planned for the next service, so it's fine as it is for now.
Great vid you have worked wonders with the old van have you got a link for reversing camera and was it easy to wire in 😎👍👍👍❤️

Inch of slack without squeakage?
I'll replace the alternator and do it then.
It shouldn't squeak because the belt is new.

Nice one Tim 😊
Diesel heater will be a game changer when it gets really cold. Wouldn’t be without mine.
I did the whole of last winter in Pack It In Stan without a diesel heater.
Didn't mind it.
Coming on nicely my man 🤟
Almost livable, David.
Well it's getting there Tim don't forget to service the engine filter s and oil change m8 it's not expensive as a new lump take care my friend ❤❤
A few paydays from now I will give it a full service, Charlie.
@SocksWithSandals good man give it a birthday semi synthetic oil not mineral oil Tim 😁👍.
Don't for get the pollen filter 🤧 😊
Lovely bit of editing on the fan belt fit.
If it didn't snap onto the crankshaft pulley when I teased the starter, I would have been stuffed.
@SocksWithSandals The way you added the synth wave music in that shot was just perfect for that moment.
I wanted to portray victory and confidence.
@SocksWithSandals You certainly achieved.
I feel for you I really do just invested in rubber mats have a jag s type very tight fit well done
It's amazing how they build aftermarket parts to exactly not fit.
That cranking of the engine to get the fan belt on was genius Tim and your finest work so far👍
Necessity is the mother of invention.
I agree! Well, apart from his fine video production skills of course...10/10

Yeah, The Mansion seems reliable enough to take it anywhere, now, and stop where I want.
happy days / rock and roll
These days are ours? happy and free.
Sick of hearing about bleedin boring diesel heaters, a good fleece costs less & you can wear it outside the van. 👍

Check spark heat plugs... maybe they are bad, because it takes a little long to start up..

Well done with fan belt. Impressive reversing camera and the enormous awning, mansion coming on well.

Quite
👌
Needs to be more than 13.5 with no lights on ect should be at least 14.2-14.4👍
Yeah, I will replace the alternator soon.
You should give your heater plugs a chance to warm up before you try starting
I do, when the engine is cold.

It will live for another thousand days.

A couple more weekends and I'll be lording it up in my luxury mansion.

Nicely done with the belt Mr Socks. It's all coming together, I'm sure the haters must be eating their words now
Those tards that are still allowed to comment will probably migrate to another van Life Channel where their toxic negativity has greater effect.

Great trick popping the belt on 👍 I'll keep that in the memory bank
It's the oldest trick in the book lol
@Driverorh well, I haven't read that book. I normally loosen the adjustment on the alternator..
When your at the end of the adjuster that's how it's done
Thats one way of doing it 🤣👍
A way that works is a good way.
"I beleive.......YES!"
Had the crankshaft turned anti-clockwise comma the belt would have slipped off, and I would have simply levered it onto the other side.

Very clever trick with the alt belt , where did you get that reversing camera looks great with its dual purpose, front and rear camera in one ?
It's made by Wolfbox.Either Amazon or eBay

Wolfbox. 4k front, FHD rear.

I must admit I was very surprised how big it was, when it was fully extended...I refer to the awning of course.
