I live in a 12 plate iveco I'm slowly converting, but when I sell it I'm actually thinking of getting something much older for the exact reasons I've claimed - still I'm no mechanic and I appreciate such a problem is no walk in the park. Bottom line is though despite it being the worst time of year for this to happen you can at least devote the good spells we do have to it.

@SocksWithSandals Where your good old Swift engine problems are concerned,if the garage recon it is the top end issues and if there are hydraulic tappets might it be a worn hydraulic tappets/s? Presuming your cam lobes are in good condition. Hopefully not bent valve stem or timing out? Belt chain slipped? When was this last checked? Seems you could do with a good old Haines manual probably available on eBay or library.🙄🙄

There are no Haynes Manuals but I have heard you can go through a paywall and download a PDF.

Well Tim a breakers yard that deals with Talbot's would actually be the right place to be to source the part you need and maybe someone at the breakers yard might even put the part in for you to get you back on the road it would be worth a try.

@@SocksWithSandals well Tim if you have to go by bus then so be it but I'm sure that when you get there and you source the part you need and then maybe if you ask one of the men that are working there would they put the part in for you I'm pretty sure that they would be more than happy to help you they do it here in Ireland because at the end of the day all men that work in breaker yards are mechanics and they do repairs for people it wouldn't hurt to ask.
