Experienced TW player here and I’m starting out with the Prologue. I’d like to learn all the new features and I’ve heard that the Prologue has a really good story….then I’ll be in to the build a demon campaign! Good luck Newbies!
Weird tip, unless I missed you saying it, if you hold the RIGHT Alt when you drag out a formation, it will use the point you start dragging from as the CENTER of the formation, instead of the left edge.
It's worth noting, for the sake of clarity, that a "bonus" affects both the attack and damage stats. So, an infantry bonus of +10 would apply to both MA and WS when fighting against infantry, with damage being split between base and armor piercing, depending upon the unit's normal damage type ratio.
What a kind introduction to a game and its community! Not only do I get some BASIC tips (and not the hardcore stats that a lot of vets like to spew out), but also a kind welcome and greeting. Very good first impressions!
I love the ‘default’ set up TWW3 has, no more having to flick skirmish off and guard on every battle and end up messing a battle up cause I forgot to turn skirmish off and my missile troops throw themselves into the flanking cavalry.
I'm not playing WH3 myself yet (graphic card sucks and new one is too expensive) but tutorial videos like this one help me understand what's going on in your other videos.
@@thsarias @CodyKing45 I've got a RX 560 2GB. Meaning I'd have textures on low and most other settings as well. No thanks. Will wait a few months, get a patched WH3, cheaper and will enjoy watching the battles close up.
Brand new TW player here. This video is amazing dude. I knew there had to be a move queue so big thanks for that one. I would love to see some advanced tips but either way thanks.
Thank you for making the videos you do! I have been following for about a month now, and I am loving the content. Watching your videos until I can afford the game for myself, and hopefully longer.
Due to the Prolog I am finally getting into Total War Warhammer. But DAMN battle is hard... I am still at the point where letting the Autobattle do it is better... I think the 'Draw move' might help me and the 'Double click to charge' might help abit as well. I would love another video with a lot of small tips for the Real Time Battles like how to position melees and archers or how to flank both with cav and others :)
I used to be the same. There’s lots of good videos on RUclips about battles, and you can watch let’s plays to see how the other person does battles. I’m finally getting good at them
Put your infantry in a line, archers behind them and artillery/catapults behind them (if you have them). Put you cavalry on either side preferably behind a hill or in trees so they’re hidden from the enemy. Let the enemy come to you and get whittled down by your ranged weapons then when they look like they’re going to break through your first lines attack them with your cavalry by charging them from behind. Or send them all to take out their general and break their morale. That’s the hammer and the anvil, you’ll win 99% of your battles unless you’re massively outnumbered.
Sadly you won't get any better at battles by just auto resolving. I'd recommend starting off playing battles that the auto resolve gives you a decisive victory on and then slowly but surely start playing more battles and different types (siege/underway etc.) and you'll improve super quickly tbf.
Double right clicking an attack order isn’t making my units attack the nearest enemies to them. It’s just making them all attack the one enemy group I clicked on and then they all get bunched up
yes yes new to 3... 2 AMD bug crash reports so far.. cards just old p 5 some years old i guess its not easy.[forgot to validate the local files so many errors can be fixed doing this on steam]
Ok my question is when I approach an armies or castle or whatever it'll say either victory or defeat, so I want to know is that set in stone or is it just a prediction and for auto battles?
What's your opinion on how fast to expand? In older TW games there was not much of a downside to expanding quickly, but in WH (especially the WH2 Vortex campaign) expanding too much too early could become a problem.
I play on very hard difficulty, and this just personal experience. Expanding too fast can stretch your army too far, as you need to build up your cities before you (really) should start expanding. Having little cities might actually be a pro rather than a con early on.
Something I think should have been addressed: Does bonus vs Large count as base damage, or is it effectively armour piercing damage? Or, does it double-dip and apply to both? EDIT: Additionally, would have been good to mention that it affects attack stat as well as damage stat.
its bonus damage depending on how the base weapon is, for example if its 80% normal damage than the bonus damage will be 80% normal. As you said one thing that is often overlooked is it also applies to your melee attack which is why dedicated anti-X units can be so devastating in a good matchup. It works the same way with charge bonus, except change bonus decays over 15 seconds. Its important to remember if a unit has 'anti-X' on the unit card it does not automatically mean it has bonus damage vs that type, it often does but sometimes its anti for another reason, cavalry and their ability to cause infantry to scatter being a main example, also 'bonus vs X' is only for melee attacks its not tied to range weapons.
@@TheNzFox Ah, I knew about it myself, but I was framing it according to how I think it should be addressed for beginners, because it doesn't make it obvious, and that should address most questions that they have regarding how it actually works. Still, thank you for replying so any beginners that might see this can read your reply and see it for themselves.
yh literally with the influx of new players due to the pass, im surprised alot of youtubers havent jumped on the hype and grew their following, cant even find a land battles tier list lmao
Great video, but I am a little sad I had time to watch it. I pre-downloaded and thought I would be able to play. So I opened it up, and now it is taking forever to run an update and unpack. I guess I just got told. Lol
Single click will send your units to attack while approaching at normal speed. Double click will send your units to attack while charging. This is extremely important when using cavalry, due to their large charge bonuses. Edit: Double clicking any spot on a map will also cause them to run there instead of just walking as well.
Er. :c help°, is there a way I can select some of my men from each unit like taking spears and taking some bow guys and put them together. Like idk how to select half my units to split them up :c is that possible!? LLOL I'm so stupid... edit I spelt stupid wrong the first time x.x LOL
I believe you’re looking for groups. Select spear unit, hold ctrl to select range unit as well or any others you wish to be in one group and press G. They are in group 1, and if groups are set to locked they will maintain their positions to each other and move together and will all be selected at once for command when you press 1. Rinse and repeat for more groups on 2, 3, 4 etc
@@ren2586 No problem. Something to note about groups is they can make your units do very stupid things if they are locked. If you tell 3 units to move somewhere their formation will not actually fit in a settlement, they will freak out and do weird stuff like run in opposite directions etc, so you have to get used to turning lock off and on for the best effect.
But the game only crashes on me. I have a plenty good computer. But it don't get it. Is anyone lese still having crash issues? I can't finish a battle without it freezing and quitting the game
