It's the part of the guitar you're in touching the most, so that makes sense. It also runs most the length of the strings, so probably has more effect on their vibration than any other part, so that also makes sense.

If it’s worth it to you, then you’re not crazy. I wouldn’t pay $1000 or even $600 US but, I did buy a Warmoth neck for about $275 over a decade ago and it’s part of my #1 guitar. One thing you didn’t mention is that the perfect neck for you will help you play better. I’d say that Warmoth neck improved my playing 10%, which is quite a bit if you’ve been playing for a long time.
Some video ideas along the same line-how much do pickups matter? (IMHO it’s the most important aspect of the amplified tone)
And how much do picks affect your playing? (again, IMHO, picks, being the initial point of tone generation, pick choice is really, really important)
I saw that you play Chicken(?) picks which are very good but expensive picks. I’d bet you’d say they have made quite a difference. Have you tried Flow picks? Especially the Andy James 2.0 version? Just amazing. I played almost every kid of pick, after 30 years of using yellow Tortex. I ended up buying and trying over a dozen different styles and materials. My number one choice, at first, were my own handmade picks made from old silver coins. Silver, to my ears, has the least noticeable pick noise of any material I’ve tried, but it was the shape that made so good. Like your picks, the edges are smooth bevels and I find that to be the best pick shape. After 3 years of making my own picks, I once again went on a pick comparison journey and discovered the AJ Flow picks and they are as good as my homemade picks and I won’t freak out if I lose one.

I’ve been a musician and guitar player for 40 years. Before I bought my first guitar, I asked my mentor in music what was the most important thing about a guitar (aka the most important part) that I need to make my first consideration.
He told me, “The neck”. He then added, “Any part of the rest of the instrument can be off, wrong or poorly executed and can be remedied. Now, if the neck is fucked-up, the instrument will never be right, never reach its true potential”.
He was a professional luthier and worked as a tech for what was the biggest music gear store in the medium-sized city (≈375,000 in the city limits) where I lived then. He taught me how to maintain, adjust, mod, repair and even build electric and bass guitars from scratch. He was a pro in every sense of the word. Sadly he passed on about 20 years ago. RIP C.
I’ve had friends bring me guitars with necks warped/twisted and even a couple where there was a lump under the fingerboard. I’ve had to tell them that I can remedy this, but it’ll need a brand new (or good condition used) neck.
Fun Fact: Check your local pawn shop. There are $100 guitars to be had that actually have really decent necks. The rest of the guitar may be firewood grade, but to score a neck that’s essentially good to go with only a fret leveling & fret polish job (including filing off any fret sprout) at most...that’s where the replacement necks have come from to remedy those friends’ guitars with terminal crap necks brought to me for repair.

Music in this viedo sounds straight up like it's from the last of us.
Also talking about the necks, i treat a guitar neck like bed.
If you wanna spend on youself, the best thing you can do (and the most important) is get a nice bed. If you have a nice bed you're gonna feel better.
It's the same when it comes to guitars, if you get a nice neck you're gonne feel better when playing your guitar.

I haven’t actually played it yet but if it’s any nicer than my Warmoth neck on my Strat I’m sure it will be a dream. In my opinion the most important part of the neck is the shape and fretboard radius... • @darwinsaye

I think it makes a lot of sense, but really mainly for the person who is going to have one guitar. I’ve always had all kinds of guitars, from high end vintage PRS and Yamahas, to cheap department store guitars like Kays Harmonys and Silvertones, and my mentality has been to embrace the differences, and adapt myself to each guitar rather than visa versa. My most comfortable neck is on a 70s Kay, with a soft V to C back, comfortable rolled edges, and a perfect width for my hand. But if I could, I would not replace all the necks on my other guitars with something that matches the Kay. I embrace the differences, from the modern C on my Tele, to the wide, thick baseball bat on my Harmony, to the almost child sized neck on my Silvertone or the high shouldered D on my 335. They are all different feeling and sounding instruments, and each one brings something different out in my playing and writing. I actually would like to add one more kind of neck to my collection - something that has a vintage 7.5 radius and is narrow across the fretboard but fat back to front, like an old U shaped neck. Besides, I mean, when it comes down to it, if you have several guitars and put a “perfect” $1000 neck on one, what about the rest of your guitars? You surely can’t justify putting thousand dollar necks on them all, and your probably going to pick them up a lot less often now than you do that one with the expensive neck. 🤷‍♂️

Not just the neck in general but the nut!! You can kill a guitar by puting a bad nut on it... Of course the setup of your neck is essential but the nut is a critical part of your guitar, if not the most critical, it act on your string action and on your tone, 2 things that make a guitar play great or play like a shovel!

Wish you could upload photos in comments. Anyway I agree. I have a few Deep C necks and also a modern C.
Best Strat I have though is the one I had a custom Warmoth one made. If you’ve never tried them and you’re looking for a size neck Fender doesn’t offer give them a try.

How do you see us in the next video? Does the next video actually enable our cameras? Or does it mean that we will actually be IN the next video? It just seems like it would be more accurate to say "You will see me in my next video" which might be redundant to say. Anyway, I will see you in your next video! (this comment is of course just kidding with you, using your style of humor). It is worth it if you think it is worth it and enjoy it. Happy up coming holidays!

Yes you are crazy! For $1000, you can get a luthier to build anything you want. Any wood, any width, scale length, contour... everything! Try it next time. There are lots of luthiers near you.

I don’t think I would pay $CA 1000 for a neck but I have an idea that I would buy a pawn shop guitar that I like the neck on and use that on a guitar body I like.

I'm definitely a neck-first buyer. I'll have to consider this instead of buying a whole new guitar. I think Fender made probably has a higher resale value. Had you considered buying from Warmoth? I'd have no problem paying $1K for a great neck.

    Pretty expensive!
But it looks beautyful, i looove those glossy necks.
And i like if the nitro finish wears down.
I don't really know, how much i would spend on an upgrade... it depends

If it's worth it and need it then why not get it. As long as your instrument is used and does not become an expensive ornament

I just played a Japanese vintage Strat today -first time I’ve played one and the best but was the feel and finish of the neck . Great pickups too , second hand and good condition but another guy in the store had previously been looking at it so he bought it for £ 700 which seems expensive but it did seem pretty good . Dunno a great deal about Japanese Fenders but will try to get up to speed .

I honestly I'm very happy for you. I played on crappy guitars and crappy next 4 years. And I played on some pretty decent guitar necks. And I'm glad that you found something that fits you perfect. And yes you are crazy. $1,000 man! But I understand why. But you're still crazy

To answer are you crazy...? Yeahhhh you’re crazy. Crazy about that neck. I had an am original 60’s thin line. The neck felt incredible. The sound was great. The frets were perfect. The electronics were bad on mine. Had to send it back. Got an am original 60’s instead. Perfect. Absolutely amazing. And I’d pay 75% of the price for the neck on my guitar. Because, well it’s just that good. The neck is absolutely the part of the guitar we connect with the most other than sound. But those two things exist together. A good neck makes The player play better; making a better sound. And good sound makes a player appreciate a certain neck for tone and sustain.
