She definitely crossed the line. But her issue should be with the parents if they told their son to bike on the sidewalk. It's the most dangerous place to ride a bike. The data is as clear as it gets
I could understand to a point if it was like in a downtown area and how the law says they need to be in the bike lane. Growing up, my parents ALWAYS wanted me to ride on the sidewalk. I've never seen the harm in it and it's DEFINITELY a lot safer for young kids, than the street. Just watch and have courtesy for pedestrians and all should be ok.
I'm not faulting the boy here, that lady was WAY out of line. but statistically it is actually more dangerous to ride on the sidewalk, especially ones with as many curb cuts as this one.
@@noodles91380 I'm not sure if it really is statistically more dangerous on the sidewalk. Admittedly, I haven't looked up the numbers, but I imagine collisions on the street will usually lead to more serious injuries (crashing with a car/motorcycle rather than a pedestrian), but even if it weren't that's a moot point here. The lawyer explained that unless you're in serious disregard of others' safety, it's not illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk.
@@triplehmafia6556 I looked into it, and it looks like the about 28 states allow it outright, 18 states allow it with restrictions (for instance, not in business district or city centers) or let local governments set the rules, and only 4 states prohibit it unconditionally: Alabama, New Hampshire, North Dakota and Maryland. Also, Santa Ana, California, where this took place, allows bikes on the sidewalk.
if ya momma and dada won't, someone will someday. i'd argue there's plenty of old-ass children getting slapped around by strangers all the time. for running mouths cuz no manners, talking down about others for the same things they do(but it's ok for them cuz x and y and z), blaming anyone but themselves for their problems. i slapped around a ~55 year old homeless child the other day in indianapolis. When i told him to back up, he stepped in saying I'M "messing with the wrong one" Shows what that kid knew, don't it?
"why did you hit me?" "want me to hit you again?" how is this allegedly? she did it on camera, she admitted to doing it and then threatened to do it again, and then lied about it in the same video to a bystander.
In legal speak it's always allegations until settled, then it becomes a final thing - so if she settles or serves time/is fined, then it'll be changed to saying she assaulted him. Until then, it'll stay as an allegation.
Sidewalk cyclists *can* be annoying, but this kid seems like he was trying to be as courteous and safe as possible. That old woman is insane. Props to the kid for keeping his cool; he was raised right. Edit: Oh brother. A few people seem to be under the impression that I typed “Every single biker who rides on the sidewalk is horrible, therefore they should run wild in the streets and aggravate the drivers.” I actually agree that the sidewalk is better for bikers/cyclists. It’s safer for them, and reduces road rage. I was commenting on how some of them *CAN* be rude and annoying when they ride on the sidewalk. But that can be with literally anyone in any walk of life. Kiss your husbands, eat your veggies, and drink your water folks.
Depends on the area. The local laws didn’t prohibit sidewalk biking but encouraged it because of busy roads. Anyways, it’s not like you can’t bike around people. Old witch was insane
@@JB-sv5pr Actually, riding a bike on the sidewalk is illegal. Only a handful of cities legalize sidewalk biking. I got warned by a Los Angeles traffic officer that I could get issued a moving violation ticket for sidewalk cycling. Yes, moving violation ticket like what you would get for driving a car. DMV's jurisdiction applies to bikes. Another thing illegal is riding against traffic which that kid did. I actually got hit by a car backing out of a driveway. Cars only look in the direction of traffic. If you travel from the opposite direction, you will get hit.
Yeah he did do good cause half the worlds children like me would end up killing her for touching us if she would’ve did that around here. I would’ve curb stomped her 😭
The more cameras expose how toxic people can be the more i dread to think about how many people have been wrongly accused of things they never did before cameras were around.
This has unfortunately been happening with a small number of police arrests. In these instances the body cam footage was recorded, however, it wasn't viewed until the person accused opened a case for the encounter. The cops at fault got fired.
I think that’s why this older generation is viewed like this. Because in their lifetime they were of course taught and could get away with this type of behavior. Back in the 60s and 70s if you beat your kid for example no one Wood bat an eye, but nowadays CPS would be called in a matter of minutes. A good friend of mine told me some thing a few months ago and it really kind of stuck. Once this older generation dies out in about 30 years this world will see major change.
smh what a stupid, contradictive, sad world we live in. What an unfortunate time to be a child. The 90's as a kid was an incredible fever dream for me.
He could've ridden the bike on the road too. If it's illegal to ride on sidewalk, then she is not wrong to tell him to get off. Shouldn't have assaulted though. That was wrong.
The young man could see there was a group up ahead. Could have made a "big boy" decision and went in the street passing the sidewalk (not just this one). I think mom was over the top saying "he was hit by a car, and I wanted him to ride off the streets". If Mom was that concerned, maybe take his bike privileges away until his boo-boo is better! The kid seems old enough to make his own decisions. Mommy needs to toss the baby boy cord in the trash.
@@kelseystump112 shut up Karen, there was enough safe room for him to go around. He stopped way before her. “Respect your elders” has always been a saying that baffled me from time to time as I have had many rude encounters with older people. Respect is earned, not given.
Because back in older times, being old was a sign that you were smart and wise, because getting to that age in life wasn't guaranteed the way it is in many developed countries today. Back then, if you had gray hair, it meant you knew how to deal with the world and were savvy enough to overcome tons of obstacles. But nowadays, the only thing you need to do to get to old age is be lucky enough to not get sick/hurt/killed and just barely smart enough to not whittle away your personal finances. Getting old in the modern age is nothing special, meaning tons of stupid people can do it. So being old doesn't mean much on its own anymore, and isn't as deserving of automatic respect or admiration.

Well, it's illegal, and if you hit a pedestrian they could sue you for damages, it's for the best you stay on the road.

I think that’s why this older generation is viewed like this. Because in their lifetime they were of course taught and could get away with this type of behavior.
I’m sure there were obnoxious and crazy “Karen’s” back in the day too. This isn’t a modern issue. There’s just a name for these whackjobs now
@@Abyssable135 . Apparently no one can go outside anymore, according to that person 🤣🤣🤣
Just like every other person, young OR old… THAT WOMAN should have been ARRESTED right away as soon as the charges were filed!! I’m so tired of age AND $$$ being a factor in getting a slap on the hand until it goes to court or getting dropped!!
RIDICULOUS!!!😡😡😡😡
Come to New York. No one gets arrested anymore. Just handed appearance tickets. It’s awful
@@epizzle9232 you think diversity would make new york amazing 🤷
USA needs the hyper loop and high speed rail desperately
In every major city
And separate road for biking
True
I mean, the lady was eighty years old, not defending what she did but the mid tends to go away in the late sixty’s so she’s probably not right in the head
Oh so if the houses cost less you’re supposed to expect more interaction like this
“Why in the world would u have a camera on?”
In the world we’re living in, why wouldn’t EVERYONE have a camera on?
I mean yeah just a dash cam on a car might be the difference between a loosing money or laughing at an idiot who tried an insurance scam.
I'm from Australia what sort of camera can I buy like that when I'm on my bike etc and how much is it please?
Yes... I need one too. :(

Poor kid!!! He was being respectful and responsible…. What a crazy lady.
If he was acting responsible he would follow the laws and drive on the road.. however, he was respectful for sure!
Yeah he wasn’t obeying traffic laws he should’ve been arrested
@@AnneOhn123 did you not hear the mom she didn’t want her son on the road with the bike
@@AnneOhn123 but again like how the dude said your not supposed to be on the sidewalk but still it’s still safer than being on the road js
@@AnneOhn123 didnt know u drive a bike lol
Never heard of laws against riding on a sidewalk, but even so how does that justify physical aggression towards someone? Let alone a KID? I would've never predicted how many Karens we'd have in this world 10 years ago...
9 times out of 10 it isn't an actual law but a rule imposed on a neighborhood that's being run by an abusive HOA, which can often form housing monopolies where you have a rich HOA/management company buying up an entire area and then controlling it. These shriveled up geriaritrics aren't satisfied until they can tell you exactly what you can and can't do in your own neighborhood that you're paying to live in, AND charging you HOA fees while they do
just checked the law in the California and its apparently illegal to ride on the sidewalk over the age of 13. the kid is 12 thus he aint doing anything illegal

This is what a frustrated 80 yr old fed up with her life does.
You know you live in a safe and rich environment when the only thing people trip about is kids riding their bikes on the sidewalk.
Yep, they can’t imagine kids riding on sidewalks because it can cause them PTSD. A black guy or a Muslim walking there must be an absolute nightmare for them. It’s extremely boring for them, they have no problem so they creat chaos from nothing.
@@MrSamshy it's always white people who complain too
What's that got to do with anything
Yeah, and one may wonder whether a curse or blessing. The same way they make a fuss about this nothing they will find 100 more other nothingnesses to make a problem.
Says a dissatisfied life person. Lol it really shows. 🤣 🤣🤣🤣
