Olympus are SO underrated. Weather sealing, ibis, touch screen... so many features that are more premium except for the sensor size. Last time I checked the glass wasn't as affordable as I thought though.

Sensor size has pros and cons. One big advantage is smaller lens sizes. I have an (even) older Olympus as a second camera and my main camera is m43 as well. I recently bought the Peak Design 3 litre sling and I fit the two cameras and four lenses in it - two primes, two zooms. It's advertised for one camera and two smaller lenses

What matters the most is what system you want to buy into and what is the upgrade path. Canon, NIkon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji, are all good...And all are leaning into "content creation" over "art" these days too.

I added the G100 to my MFT cameras last year, got a great deal on a brand new one with the tiny kit lens. I really like it for how light and compact it is and it’s perfect for daytime hikes. Lack of IBIS means I still take the GX80 out more, but for well lit situations where you want small and light the G100 is perfect.

Not $300 in the US, anyway. Starts at just about $600. Used Fuji prices have gotten way out of hand, and the cameras aren't worth nearly as much as they're being listed for, as long as you want to use them for more than just TikTok neck jewelry.

Another benefit of the Nikon D7100 is it has the sprocket that old Nikon autofocus lenses require as they don’t have built-in autofocus motors. I think the D7200 was the last enthusiast Nikon DSLR to include that sprocket. I don’t know when or if it was removed on higher end bodies.

    • @BlueBomberTurbo
      @BlueBomberTurbo 7 месяцев назад

D7500 was the one that removed everything, because the D500 had arrived before it and took the flagship spotlight. So having those features would've put the D7500 way too close to it.

The NEX-6 was my only mirrorless camera for 9 years! Great option where “budget” doesn’t mean “basic”. My mini-review and some tips:
    PROS:
Light and durable! This is all magnesium - many a6*** models use more plastic.
    Lovely controls and ergonomics
    Shoots good RAW.
    PDAF and basic face detection.
Nice viewfinder and hood even though resolution is low.
    CONS:
“W” battery life is just OK.
    High ISO noise looks bad.
    Buttons not super customizable
Best video quality is in AVCHD format (don’t buy this for video.)
    Picky about USB chargers
    Loud shutter
    TIPS:
Take advantage of Sony’s older OSS lenses! 16MP doesn’t require 2024 sharpness. Kit lens still not great. 50mm 1.8 OSS is excellent wide open.
Make sure the grey control wheel (under PASM knob) functions correctly.

Nice to mix it up with my Olympus EM5 Mark II and Lumix LX100 which are great to use with their great tactile controls but sometimes it's nice to have something as basic as the NX300.

The DR on the D7100 was crippled by the banding caused by the Toshiba sensor. I had one, and the next camera I bought was literally the NEX-6. Was amazed by how much better the DR was on it than the D7100. AF was also way more reliable, not having to fine tune lenses just to get them to be usable. NEX-6 worked perfectly with any and every lens from day one. One of the biggest reasons I switched to mirrorless a couple of years later.

    • @alexmirza5210
      @alexmirza5210 7 месяцев назад

I do agree that mirrorless system is much more dependable to get focus spot on at all distances. Banding is only a problem at really high isos which I avoid though. Hmm food for thought. I have a nikon Z6 for general purpose use, wish I could have afforded a Z7.

When the g100 first came out I didn't t think much of it. But as it turns out it's actually a pretty decent camera especially for it's size etc. The canon m6 is definitely the better version of the m3 albeit a little more expensive ( not by much tho). But the original M and M2 are actually highly capable cameras as well. Some of my best/favorite work I took, was with the OG eos M and M2. And the best part of those models is that you can add Magic Lamtern to them and unlock the cinema cameras from within that have caused a bit of a mega cult following, that, to this day is still being talked about and improved upon

You can shoot in a smaller cropped RAW format (1.95x) to up the buffer a bit. I think dropping down to compressed and 12-bit helps, too. But yes, D7200 was peak consumer DX, and D7500 was the last D7xxx, though it lost some compatibility and features because the pro D500 existed.

NEX-6 has the best image quality, followed by E-M1.1. I've owned both, and they're both great cameras. To the point that I think I want another of one of them. D7100 has better low light ability, but its DR is hampered by heavy banding. Not even the M3 has it as bad, and Canon was known at the time for their constant banding ruining pictures. D7100 is also absoultely massive compared to the rest, as are its lenses. G100 has weird color casts in the shadows to contend with, so I wouldn't suggest it, either.

i real love the canon m3 and think its a very underrated camera, but I hesitate in recommending it to a beginner simply because the system is dead and its biggest strength was its size and if you use ef lenses with adapter on m cameras you kill one of the biggest advantages of the system: the size. You still can use one as there are awesome lenses in the m line up but if you upgrade you basically have to start over, which is a bad thing for a beginner on a budget. I like to recommend the m3 to seasoned photographers that look for a cheap smaller camera they can take everywhere.

Not on MPB they aren't. They've just sold out, but literally last week they had about 5 or 6, all priced under $300. You just have to keep an eye out for them when they come available.

@@TomCalton that was mpb as of the time you published this. I do think that price is on the lower end or representative of models with at least optical damage such as scratched screens etc. Thanks for replying though.

That's why it's so cheap, being so new. Though it does have the newer 20MP sensor, but that's not exactly a benefit.

You can get some great Canon DLSRs for under $300 USD. They have affordable starter lenses too.
Mirrorless isn't a good budget pick right now, IMO, because there is just more used DSLR gear out there, and a lot of it is really good. Also, the bleeding edge rich techies and photographers are always trading in the 'old' stuff for the latest. A ton of people are always selling their APS stuff to move up to full frame.

MPB used to be good. So sick of these photography influencers shilling for them. Their quotes are garbage now and generally they downgrade. I had an Olympus 12-40 that was used to record a couple of gigs and they claimed it was “well used”.

Reson people skip m43 cause nowaday :
M43 daker 1 stop than crop or 2 ev than ff. And ff/crop camera is much cheaper than in the past. For exp u can get zve10 for 600 usd or a7r2 for 1000 usd used or a72 for 500 usd used. If u buy nikon like d610/d750 or canon 5d3 it even cheaper. In where i live u can buy d610 used for 300 usd. And the iq is so much better. And dslr lens is so cheaper too.
2 . so many good lens and cheap lens for crop. Exp sony or fuji. U have sigma, tamron, samyang. Cheaper u have ttarsian, 7artsian, youngno, tokina. Exp youngno. Their cheap 50 1.8 for crop only 110 usd brand new. buy crop camera like nikon z30/zve10 or fuji xt30 with china prime lense is a wise choice than m43 with exspensive lense for most of people. M43 now i think suit for people with special require like 4k film no over heat, ibis for action video. Their ibis is good for vlog but too bad their af suck . m43 vs 1 inch not much diffrent so buying dj pocket 3 for vlog is better than buy expensive g9 + lecia 11 f1.8 with
