Chris F I know!! I wrote a status asking if anyone I know graduated from Spellman in 1983 because I’m dying to get my hands on the yearbook to look up her photo. So far I haven’t found anyone, but I’m sure I will since Spellman is one of the most popular catholic high schools in my neighborhood because it’s co-ed. lol.
sky Its true. lol. I can’t imagine living anywhere else!! It’s so funny. I’ve always loved Coco. Before I found out she was from The Bronx, she always reminded me of pretty much every character in my life, and then when I found out she was from The Bronx, it all made sense. It was like an: “Ohhh.....THAT’S what it is!” moment. lmao.
that was a great story! Such a small world. As a gay high schooler I never fit in anywhere as I was a mechanic and a rock-n-roller and hated disco and fashion (this was 1976-78)...I loved Aerosmith...I was at the *infamous* Led Zep concert at the Kingdome in 1977! So glad Coco that you too appreciated rock! because I never fit in, I kinda just drifted, waiting for school to end and not having many friends or ambition...I was smart tho and got B's and C's with no effort expended. But my health teacher (also the track coach) in my Junior said to me 'I know you know this stuff, if you just applied yourself, you'd ace this and get good grades'. No one before had *ever* taken an interest in me, not even my family, enough to push me like this, so I got inspired, aced his class and all the others, went to college, and got much further than the scared, skinny, red-headed gay kid who loved rock-n-roll could have ever dreamed of going. Thank you Mr. Heath. And thx Coco!
I want a Miss Francis story. When I was in 6th grade, in the 70s, I had a teacher that was somewhat psychotic. A friend of mine sat next to me, and his desk was always a mess on the inside (it was one of those, that you sat down and lifted the desktop). One day the teacher came over to him, pushed him out of the seat, picked up the entire desk, turn it over and dumped everything on the floor. Then said to him "clean it up" then sent him to the principal's office and got paddled. Ah, the good old days, when teachers were allowed to physically and psychologically terrorize 11 year olds. No wonder we turned out the way we did.
Went to St. Athanasius in the South Bronx had a nun smack a kid so hard it gave him a bloody nose. Another teacher repeatedly smacked a kid from one end of the classroom to the other. Sadly I have to confess that the kids were better for it than what we have today.
@@lmarti204 What brutality! Alot of my friends went to Catholic schools so I'm glad my parents sent me to public schools, now. I grew up in the Catholic church and my mother was a nurse in a Catholic hospital, and the nuns always seemed so nice.
Ms. Francis was NOT psychotic and not known for extreme discipline. She was an art teacher. Ms. Francis was my favorite teacher and I still think of her to this day.
Gifts : Mr. Tallarico gave his son the Gift of Music. Ms. Coco Peru gives us the gift of her time. Thank You for these precious gifts of Your Time and Your Heart. Bigg Huggs from Way Up Here in Denver !
God I love you so much more because you're able to keep up so many of us right now. Thanks for sharing so much more about yourself with us ❤💕. God bless you sis
I wonder if Mr Tallarico spent the last years of his life boasting that he once taught the great Coco Peru! I feel it's a story Liv tells about her Grandfather!
These stories are slaying me. You are dredging up memories that are cracking me up. When I was in junior high school in the 70's in Indiana, our choir director, Mr. Fissinger, who was a very nice man, always had a ball of spittle on his bottom lip and when he spoke, it created a strand between his upper and lower lip. TWO years, every day, I saw this and it made my flesh crawl every single time. So, thank for pulling that memory up for me as I prepare to go to bed at 2:45 am - god only knows what I will be dreaming about as a result! LOL
These solitude thoughts videos that you are posting are so heartwarming. You are a very caring and nurturing person; you just make me feel really good. Thank you.
This is a precious story, and memory, thank you for sharing it to inspire us once again! I still love "Dream On", yes....I'm that old. I love you fabulous Coco 💜
What a beautiful story about Mr. Tallarico! That is very cool that he continued to teach in the Bronx even though his son had made it. It's funny when we look back at our teachers and remember so many awesome things and stories about them.
Coco Peru!! I have been loving these stories every day. I'd love it if you continued with these even after our time in solitude is over. You've got so much wisdom and unique things to share. Love getting to know you more through these little clips.
I really appreciate this. I really appreciate looking at the part of your life, and the bits that back then made us cringe but now make us laugh and fill us with warmth.
'Thoughts While in Solitude' have been so sweet and so inspiring and so needed now. You're just an old softee (no matter what they say!) I love the animated drawing. The artist really captured u. Sometimes late at night when I'm in bed, with my cats piled on top of me, watching one of your trip videos you'll say something so outrageous and funny it causes my to scream out loud with laughter. So loud the neighbors are pounding on the wall. Fuck 'em. I'm enjoying my MIss Coco.
I love these vlogs. Yesterday, I asked my parents questions, and I learned a lot about them. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and brightening our day.
I knew it!!!! You are so lucky to have known him! Thank you for sharing this with us! I love Steven Tyler so much. I would love to see you preform Dream On.

My hubby and I love you Coco and wish you and yours well during this time of solitude. Stay well you wonderful thing!!!
Thank you Coco for these thoughts in Isolation, I am really enjoying! Ironically I just threw away my yearbooks because I am in the process of moving from Ft. So funny that you posted this. I recently was looking on your wiki page and laughed out loud when I saw you went to Cardinal Spellman. Both my parents are from the Bronx and my mom went to Cardinal Spellman. She has a lot of stories from back then of being a little hellraiser and driving her teachers up a wall. Wow Coco...what a story! I just had to go right to Wikipedia after the video and look up Steven Tyler! His real name is Steven Victor Tallarico....named mostly after his father & your music teacher.
