Long years ago, I used to sort my laundry but have not for a long time. If I buy something new that's a dark color, I will wash it with some other dark colors for the first wash. I do wash the towels separately in very hot water. But, all of our clothes, I just was them together. If something is really dirty, I may throw it in with the towels so it will get the hot wash.
