Although Monet paintings are extraordinarily beautiful I think you need no paintings morbpoctures to fill your mind of images while listening to Debussy. He crafted such beautiful pieces that they themselves can create really vivid images in your mind!
I remember being utterly transfixed the first time I heard this piece. I was walking along a quiet street when I heard someone playing it on a piano in one of the houses. I had to stop and listen until they'd finished, even though I was supposed to be working at the time.
@@davidharris2844 Transfixed … transformed by pianist Noriko Ogawa’s rendition of a favorite Debussy piece. My late father used to play this on the baby grand piano he purchased as a teenager in high school, the same baby grand I learned piano on. I love your story … being transfixed by this stunning piece trickling out of a house you were passing on the street. Even as you were supposed to be working! Wouldn’t Monsieur Debussy be both surprised AND thrilled by your response to one of his compositions. How lovely.
It must have been lovely hearing your father playing this, a good memory. Not quite the same, but I have fond memories of my father playing "On the Sunny Side of the Street" and other similar tunes. Alas, I never learned to play the piano.
Amazing interpretation of this one of my favourite piano pieces. Even though I would have liked if some scales would have been played a tad quicker, to keep up the tension that I feel in this piece a bit more, I still get goose bumps while listening, as I have nothing to really complain about here.
