It's always like human nature to hate losing. But with sports you overcome that. Maybe in Wammy's House, Near always came 1st and Mello the 2nd best. Mello being the 2nd best always felt the urge to defeat Near. And Near at the end even accepted the fact of how Mello helped him, he knew without both of them it would be very difficult to defeat Kira.
It's sad that Mello, who is obviously highly intelligent and talented, developed such a destructive inferiority complex due to the hyper-competitive environment he was raised in.
The saddest thing out of all this is that Near knew how capable Mello is, and that the case couldn't be solved without him.Mello was the only one putting himself down. Also he recruited Matt because he was his friend from Wammy's which would suggest he trusts him a lot, compared to his Mafia allies which i dare to say he didnt trust at all.It was just about him needing someone to rely on.
This is so interesting, you brought up potential aspects of Mello’s character that I hadn’t even considered. Like the fact that he would cope really hard to compensate for his failures and try to view them as intentional steps to achieve his goal, similar to Light. Glad I found your channel
It would be so interesting for a spin-off on what Mello had done during the 4 year timeskip. Going from heavily sheltered orphan to kingpin of the Mafia. Like a Better Call Saul but for Mello ..... LET'S GET THIS SHIT DONE
I think mello is just friends with matt and not because he is smarter. Matt is the 3rd smartest wammy's kid probably because he is lazy or doesn't care
This is a great video and has made me think a lot about how mello reflects off of modern society of going to extreme lengths just to few more dominate then one another
Better volume than you other whisper video, but damn that robot voice is too much. I can't get past 6 minutes. Mello was simply a BOSS that did not like the others acting like sissies when it was clear how HIGH THE STAKES were and HOW DANGEROUS the enemy was. Mello was about BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY like Malcolm. Mello won the game for the team. (or saved the game)
I feel sad... Mello is my favorite character and it makes me sad that he lived an unsatisfied life..
otaku winx I know he’s my favorite character too
Same
Same, in the same place with Ryuk and L

Mello isn’t one my most liked characters in death note, but a prequel series on him would be dope

I’ve seen some of your posts on the death note subreddit, and I must say that I quite enjoy your thought process and the way you figure things out.
I love this channel.
Keep up this great work. :D
