    My tips
    1) use thin bright ribbon. It effects the flight less, but does coil up so make sure it's long. mine are all 2 feet long.
    2) make sure disc and tape are warm when applying. cut a slit down the end of the ribbon and pull it thru a slit in the tape then split it opposite directions. that way pulling the tape one direction won't slide it out.
    3) The only tape I have found that works is electrical tape. I've tried scotch, masking and gorilla tape. They have all pulled off after a few rounds.
    4) Bring a shovel in case you are the first one on the course, or throw beside the tee pad. Do not step on snow on the tee pad because it packs into ice.

Shovel the teepads if you’re the first to play in the snow. Foot prints turn to ice and it becomes a slippery mess for everyone who plays after.

Not sure if you mentioned it and I missed it. Or if there are even teepads where you are.
But unless teepads are clear, they should be avoided. Footprints pack down the snow making it difficult to shovel. And depending on how much traffic the teepads get, it could create an icy mess that stays a long time. Salt on teepads is not good for them.
I’m sure you are avoiding them. But it’s a good message for new players who’ve never played in the snow before.
Also, thin ribbon works way better.

thats thicc ribbon lol recommend using like wrapping paper ribbon with good quality duct tape, cut a hole in the center and poke the ribbon through it, also pre cooling your discs is a good idea too coz warm discs will get wet and snow will stick to it. if you leave ur discs in your car over night is enough to acheive this.

We used to use colored chalk. If someone hasn't played in the snow, it's truly hard to fathom how easily they simply disappear the second they land. Bright red chalk shows your entry spot nicely.

Been playing winter golf for years, 1/4 ribbon taped to center on bottom of disc, use tyvek tape. Make sure disc are clean and dry and warm. Length depends on snow depth. Typically 2.5 -3 ft

uhhhh Maybe not a WHITE ribbon for location in the snow...
Perhaps softer, RED or Fluro ribbon.. Or fluro wool...
With wool, You could get a square of parcel tape (stronger and a bit more waterproof than scotch tape. )... Put a hole in the tape and put the wool end through so it is coming out perpendicular to the disc rather than out sideways... (Though that effect may be minor it may help the wool stay from spinning into a knot.
Not throwing white discs would also be a plus...
in fact... just Ace every hole and then you don't have to go searching..
    - When I started Disc Golf they said "Just get it close to the basket"... If I had realised you can just throw it IN the basket it would have saved me a LOT of time.. - The Butler

And this is why I don't play in powder snow. That and the Finnish winters are either -20 to - 30c(=-22F)... Or on the coast it's humid, windy 0c(=32F) to -10c weather which arguably feels much colder than the calm and dry -30c weather.. Anyway, the point is, I don't like playing with gloves on and without gloves, fingers get stiff if not straight up frostbitten.
When "spring winter" starts and the snow gets a solid icy crust on top that can hold up a person without snow shoes, thats when my season starts again. Which normally is around mid february to early march in southern coastal areas. And goes on pause not that much later as that crust starts to melt in the sun around 12.00-14.00 enough not to carry me and the discs start punching trough under the snow again...
The first winter after starting disc golf, I tried all the ribbon, flashy led, bright disc tricks but 30cm of powder snow (~1ft) doesn't combine well with disc golf. There are a rare few winter courses (where snow is packed down with rollers pulled by hand/snowmobiles/quadbikes) but none of those are anywhere close me so...

Though for the run up its tough, boots are better than shoes..

when you do hole intros it would be cool if you could do some minor editing to point out the basket! probably a lot less work than the awesome red/blue graphic you do to follow the disc. love that btw ... hate on other channels when you can't even see their disc in the air

If you use the thinner ribbon you will not have that drag on the discs. I play lots of winter golf and do not lose any distance off the tee. (If they are clear).

I honestly thought that the ribbon would fall off first throw. I always heard you use duct tape and thinner ribbon that you used. Snow rounds are fun!!! they make you feel like you suck for sure. Are you in Ohio?

    • @ChasinChains
      @ChasinChains  23 дня назад

Yeah, I tried thinner ribbon for my next snow round and it was much better. The tape was still an issue lol. I am in Ohio!
