I once ran into Juan Gabriel's gardener and spoke about Juan Gabriel a while after his death. A really great man. The gardener told me that JG had no ego. He walked to the local grocer to do his own shopping saying hello to all the neighbors. Stopping to talk to anyone that wanted to talk. The gardener said JG was a faucet of money to the poor people of his neighborhood. He had his mother and grandmother living with him. Generous to the help in his house, could never say no to anyone needing a handout. He was so generous that when he died, his estate was almost non-existant. I wasn't a fan of his music (I make the excuse that I am third generation American and I was more into Disco and Motown) but I am a fan of the Man Juan Gabriel. He would have made a good angel.

The melody becomes more joyful, as the lyrics increase being more and more depressing!
This song is about his mother and how he struggled dealing with her abandoning him, leaving him behind in an orphanage. Even after his sucess as an artist (she visited him occasionally but treated him horribly) she never approved of or acknowledged his career choice or anything he achieved as an artist.
He clearly still loved her, as he wrote this song after she died.

Something amazing about Juan Gabriel was that each of his presentations were unique. Example, on every single song he sang live he would make them like double the original length, and half of it was just the original lyrics and the other half he would improvised, of course, always with in the same theme of the original style and lyrics. He was a really prolific singer/song writer ,I read somewhere, can't remember where, that he had around 1000 lyrics, including songs he already recorded, song he gave to others and songs that were never played, recorded or finished. He was amazing!!

This song has a very deep meaning, Juan Gabriel had a very hard life, he was abandoned by his mother in an orphanage on a very early age so the name “until i met you” refers to the dramatic relationship between them. Juanga, is such an iconic legend in latin america, just to make an idea of how loved he was, he was openly gay in a very macho society and no one really care, this was 40 years ago where in Mexico being gay could get you killed. Another great singer is José José and El triste is a song that i think will make you trip. Loved your video!

Juan Gabriel lived in my home city Cd, Juarez Mexico. that's why he was known as "El divo de Juarez". I recommend "Amor Eterno", and "Abrazame muy fuerte"... And I'm curious what you'd think of Jose Jose, singing "El triste" in the 70's, He is also a Mexican Legend, His father was a Tenor and His mother was a pianist, he got a lot influence by that...

Many of his songs talk about his life, like this one dedicated to his mother. Juan Gabriel is one of the most recognized and best singers in Mexico. He wrote all his songs and therefore had the freedom to make variations.
There are other songs at the same level or better than this one:
I recommend "amor eterno" And " Abrazame muy fuerte" From the Instituto de bellas artes, first I recommend these, but there are many others and all of them are very good and emotional.
Everyone has their own favorite juan gabriel songs, all of them have a good level.

Wow! This was amazing! Even when I was never a fan of Juanga (as we used to call him affectionately), I always respected him as an artist and performer. I see you have made a few other reaction to his songs, and I will watch them next.
Maybe you should like Santa Sabina, my favorite songs by the group are: Babel, El cielo, El ángel and Siente la claridad. Rita Guerrero, whose voice reminds me of Diamanfa Galás's, unfortunately died when she abandoned her cancer treatment, but she will always be one of the voices that made us proud, she was just awesome.
