Loved watching this, reminded me of my time in the early 90's with my Panda 4x4 Sisley ( D965 SMA). I'd often take it up tracks and places on West Pennine Moors, near Bolton. Couple times in the Lake District going across rivers and clambering up large boulders. It was also fantastic in the snow and people would watch in amazement how it could climb through deep snow when other cars would be stuck. Shame it fell apart and was scrapped eventually! I'd buy one again though!
Ok, I've watched a few different videos now on your channel and I still can't find a definitive answers to the questions of diesel or petrol? And which model type?
Can’t remember which vlog the question was answered (but in relation to burning clutch on a steep hill); they suggested 1.2l petrol over diesel, due to lower revs in 1st gear.
Petrol, the 1.2 - believe it or not it has more low torque than the diesel as most of the time the turbo is not spinning. Putting the Panda 100hp engine in is now a common mod.
Thanks for your questions, it's something we are hoping to cover very soon on the channel. As the others have suggested; for tougher off-roading we would recommend a Mk3 with the 1.2 petrol engine or a Mk4 with the Twinair. The Diesel Multijet in the Panda 4x4 just doesn't work correctly due to the power and torque being unavailable at lower revs which is where you need it. The setup works great on the road, but for off-roading you need more ability to crawl at low revs. Cheers!
'The weather is clearing up, look..' @12:20 made me chuckle.
Capable little car, thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it!
