Runway should team up with major software companies like Autodesk, Nuke, Priemere Pro etc to integrate with the existing technology & lift them up 10X times. It'll be highly beneficial for the VFX & animation artists, studios. Also it's good business strategy as well for you guys to spread your wings on more R & D & invent more
Of course it's gonna be slow if you use Rotobrush wrong. The brush size is way too small for what you're trying to mask. Also why didn't you show it in motion? How does the edge detection hold up against Rotobrush 2?
I've used rotobrush v1 & v2. I guarantee the behaviour & the results would have been the same if using *any* other size brush. It's a frustrating, time-consuming & unreliable tool, & I hate it with a passion. And guess what. Since a couple of days ago, I've used (discovered) runwayml, and my mind is blown !
Take it from a recent user of ML it really is just a couple of clicks and you're done. I was sceptical when I came across ML but after trying out the free version just to test it, I was amazed by the results.

Yeah agree, even tho after effects is slow, but it is more hard and needs patience to do it. But you will get a better results

Im pretty sure they could have just rotoscope the background and use the invert foreground/background option in after effects for the same result
