SolidSixx Fear not my guess is the three of them will appear together on another show probably on a channel with a huge amount of money to throw at it, probably Sky. The name of the show will be different but it will be the same. If not, there is always Dave :-)
Ha ha, at 14:00 you rock the toggle switch back & forth & every vintage collector is screaming at their monitor yelling: "PHIL! It's only 1 of 62 TAKE IT EASY!!" Kick ass....
Sounds like a bargain. For only eleven grand you can get a guitar that you have to be afraid to play and with a bridge that makes it impossible to stay in tune. Hooray, ;-)
bluesboynate The slipping bridge is an old world issue. Some Gretschs still have that 'feature' as does some new Gibson jazz tops. It's 1 of 62 and a good example at that, so $11K is the price. Buy any guitar - new or old - of similar value & you'd be watching it like a baby. That's a side effect of owning something like that. Go further up the chain to the mega $$ 59 Les Pauls & the like, & it's the insurance co telling you where & when the guitar can be played and housed!
I thought the same to. And the drums. And Phil. The bass came across lovely because the guitar wasn't screaming. Leaving space for the rhythm section. Nice.
I like: seeing an ES used for Jimi and Jimmy - just because why not; and the way it sounds at 12:00 because it sounds like an actual real guitar with some connection to wood instead of just electronics; and that Phil is a genuine rocker that just goes for it no matter mistakes, equipment quirks etc.
Phil, HECK YEAH, Double Live Gonzo!!!! Deep Purple Machine Head/Smoke on the Water,, Frampton Comes Alive, 2112 ,Van Halen 1 are my R n R baby's milk I was raised on during my infancy. You and I are around the same age, and you flat out kill it on guitar.
G0ddammit! That was the most inspired version of Foxy Lady i've ever heard! Got a serious bro crush with Phil & The Drills happening,Come to Atlanta dammit!
Thanks for another great video, FA! I really enjoy watching the reviews and jams. I discovered y'all a while back when I was looking up videos of the Fender Tele Bass and saw Danny Spree playing the paisley one and killing it! Would it be possible to have him do some more bass reviews? He, as well as all of the musicians, do a great job playing in the jams with Phil and I'd love to see some more bass reviews from him!
New drills songs sound the shit!! Everytime, it blows my brains out. Like hearing certain big name albums for the first time, VH I, Appetite, Master of puppets. Any idea when its coming out yet? The sooner the better I need something to play in my car!
I want an episode just on the Tonemaster amp. I always love the sound of it and wonder if he is running straight in, or with any effects/pedals. Phil f*cking rules.
Good to have you back Phil. You said "I wish I could play Jazz". You should go for it. That was a nice jazz/blues feel on the clean guitar on "Foxy Lady". What you up to these days? Session work?
To PhilX: I've noticed that you usually play Little Wing when holding a strat; so this is a personal favourite I gues. Maybe you 'd like to try it with a celluloid medium pick (Fender medium) while holing it sideways. See if you like it better this way... ROCK ONN!!!
Very nice groovy version of Foxy Lady. Took a few bars before I even recognized it. Do you like this guitar more/less than the ES-175D. FYI, the ES stands for "Electric Spanish" and the D is for double pickups as opposed to the original which had a single P90 pickup in the neck position and nothing in the bridge position.
Hey Phil ! That guit is unable to stay in tune, unless one puts 13-56 strings on it...! Forget about bends with that moving bridge. Nice try, but this axe is really meant for Jazz, although you managed with previous Gretsches or other Gibsons hollow bodies... Nice sound this little Dr Z :) Anyways: when is the next Drills coming out ?? \m/
philx1111 Right, yeah, I gave it a second litsten to compare. At least I got the album right. ^^ Awesome playing Phil. I also enjoyed your lesson with Marty Schwartz.
I'm so happy to see Phil back! It's like when Top Gear returns for a new series.
Which could be never :((((
Is top gear no more? Please tell me I'm misunderstanding.
Brad Carroll Clarkson was kicked out by BBC...
Clarkson got sacked for punching a producer, and Hammond and May have basically quit. So yeah, Top Gear as we know and love it is pretty much over.
SolidSixx Fear not my guess is the three of them will appear together on another show probably on a channel with a huge amount of money to throw at it, probably Sky. The name of the show will be different but it will be the same. If not, there is always Dave :-)
I'm 3 mins into this video..... This is the most chilled out version of foxy lady!! Loving it!!
He's having fun and it's infectious!
the guy just puts me in a good mood every friday.
that man is happy to be alive!
You know that when its Phil X Friday that you're gonna have a kickass day!
Ha ha, at 14:00 you rock the toggle switch back & forth & every vintage collector is screaming at their monitor yelling: "PHIL! It's only 1 of 62 TAKE IT EASY!!" Kick ass....
Hey man, if you need to flip the toggle Hendrix and Ace Frehley style, you need to flip the toggle!
Sounds like a bargain. For only eleven grand you can get a guitar that you have to be afraid to play and with a bridge that makes it impossible to stay in tune. Hooray, ;-)

I have never heard this played in this style. FANTASTIC JOB Phil "X" and the Drills! LOVE THIS!!
It's always a GOOD Saturday morning when I turn on the desktop, go to You Tube & find '1' next to the Fretted Americana channels box... :-)
Phil X rules! But that bassplayer.... O.M.G. he is awesome!
I thought the same to. And the drums. And Phil. The bass came across lovely because the guitar wasn't screaming. Leaving space for the rhythm section. Nice.
There is a really gnarly tone with that beast of a guitar, I like it very much!
That bass sounds sooooo sweet!
Unusual rocking Foxy Lady!
Hope to see you in the UK soon.
Wow Solar eclipse and a new Phil X video all in one day! Thank you world.
Glad to see you back. Rock on!
Beautiful guitar, beautiful playing. Long live Phil X
Gorgeous Foxy Lady cover - very inspiring :-)
Time travel... man, I am so jealous. Can't even imagine the awesomeness of playing Just What the Doctor Ordered with Derek.
Wow this cover of Foxy Lady is so different and awesome!!!
I swear dude, that intro/outro song sounds amazing!!! Awesome solo! Looking forward to buying the new Drills record when it's finished! Love it!

"Great White Buffalo" is such a killer riff. I been waiting for you to play it.
Killer playing as always man.
Man that's My fave Nuge song 'Just what the Dr. Ordered'!
Saw Him live in Chicago 77' with the Great Lynyrd Skynyrd before the plane crash.
Lost it at "sweet little love maker". You're too bloody funny man!
haha. that's when I realized I was singing the 1st verse instead of the 2nd & had to add a little distraction. as you can see... I laughed myself.
those pinch harmonics @12:58 they get me every time
not long ago someone said, he doesn't get jazz guitar players, they make too many notes :D but someone's been learnin' ;)
Love this stuff thanks mate
Jack Black and Phil X jamming. That'd be a show.
Interesting playing Phil. Top looks sprucey. Nice sounding axe.
great jam during the intro
Awesome Phil X .... :)
Awesome as usual
You ROCK phil x!
That thing sounds like a Les Paul with bigger lungs. I'm hearing a lot more overtones and richer chords. Love that thing
Maaaaaan, down picup, u should do it more times. Hugs from Brasil!
Hells Yeah!! Some Uncle Ted!!!!! \m/
G0ddammit! That was the most inspired version of Foxy Lady i've ever heard! Got a serious bro crush with Phil & The Drills happening,Come to Atlanta dammit!
Love that Dr.Z tone, it sound so untouched. If that makes any sense.
-HEY IT'S PHIL X !
-WASSUP ?

thx man, couple more tracks to record & then mix, master, press... etc. promise it'll be worth the wait.
I want an episode just on the Tonemaster amp. I always love the sound of it and wonder if he is running straight in, or with any effects/pedals.
Phil f*cking rules.
you rock Phil
Good to have you back Phil. You said "I wish I could play Jazz". You should go for it. That was a nice jazz/blues feel on the clean guitar on "Foxy Lady". What you up to these days? Session work?
Derek St Holms was one of the inspirations for Spinal Tap
Hey Phil, you occasionally will shred it in F.... about some B flat?
Thanks again @frettedamericana!
My face is sufficiently melted!!!
great playing! I wish though that there vocals where a bit louder as I can barely hear them over the rest of the instruments
When can we get our hands on the new Drills album? I need my fix!
buenaaa al fin volvio el loquito este...
what happened to the Evil Robot?
Apple bought em..Turned them into watches!
To PhilX: I've noticed that you usually play Little Wing when holding a strat; so this is a personal favourite I gues.
Maybe you 'd like to try it with a celluloid medium pick (Fender medium) while holing it sideways. See if you like it better this way...
ROCK ONN!!!
I always feel you should play some Brian Setzer when you have those style guitars.
What is the song during the intro? It sounds absolutely insane
That riff at the start reminds me of Satch Boogie by Joe Satriani
same here
God dammit! You again!!!
B0bbyw0nD3r ;)
Can anyone tell me what's that Drills song in the intro?! Never heard it before!
Phil !!!!!!!
never seen a hofner violin bass with that head stock logo before.
disregard, its the block logo. Looked like it was the hofner cursive script just vertical.
Why do al the bridges move all the time?
I'm a fan of the JMP, but that Dr. Z sounds pretty dang tasty.
raddest foxey lady cover ever
Some gits just don't wanna be played. Nice job strangling some cooperation out of this one.
Awesome
thats true, 62 is between 61 and 63
Awesome Phil! Does it take more amp & pedal gain to do dirty tones with it or does it behave similar to 335s, 345s and 355s of that era?

What a seriously cool version of Foxy Lady! When are the Drills putting out a covers album?
LOL gotta love Phil X
Very Cool
I heard some Eric Krasno from 3:30 to 3:40
when and were should I be looking for that documentary?
Hey Phil i follow you since 4 years now and i would like to have songs of the drills but i'm french and i cant see any album so can you answer me ?
Hey Phil ! That guit is unable to stay in tune, unless one puts 13-56 strings on it...! Forget about bends with that moving bridge. philx1111 Right, yeah, I gave it a second litsten to compare. At least I got the album right. ^^ Awesome playing Phil. I also enjoyed your lesson with Marty Schwartz.
