I witnessed this so much growing up. It made me so sad in HS when they said “If God wanted my eyebrows to be groomed he would have said so. I’m leaving the hair where he puts it. And my nails, if they were ok to be whatever color, I would have been born that way.”
I was trying to tell them, the same way you brush your hair, you can tweeze your eyebrow hairs that are out of place. You can have pink nails and still be Gods child. With the logic you have explained to me, I could also say “Why brush your hair? If God wanted it to be tame he would have made it stay that way without intervention from your hair brush.” And many other examples. I hurt so badly for them.

What I mean by non-denominational is that those Christians don't go by any other title other than Christian as they're not a part of any main-line (popular) sections. They don't need to go to a church building to learn about the Bible from a pastor, but instead criticize and learn together. Skeptism was encouraged.

When I compare my life to theirs now??…I’m so thankful that I got a hold of something real as a young person. Their lives are so messed up. Not one of them are living for God today. Married 3,4,5x…problems with drugs and alcohol, estranged from their familes, from their own kids because of terrible lifestyles. I remember kids in high school telling me to just wait, that when i hit 18 i would b outta there. Nope. The Word judges me every day. If i don’t live up to it that’s my own fault. So it’s not ME that is judging…the Bible is a book or mercy AND judgement. Pentecostal, being as, the day they were all in the upper room. Being called "the day of Penteçost" . The book of Acts talks about following the teachings of Jesus... The Christ.

Although some of the strict external standards were over the top, let’s not forget the good things that also occurred in many of those Pentecostal churches. People were healed , souls were saved. Some were delivered from addictions. And the power of God was present during the worship. In the personal lives people testified of the mighty works of God in their daily lives. Prayers were answered routinely. Yes, people often went overboard on the outward appearance rules. But they lived as they understood. Today most have learned better. Thank God. But make sure not to toss the good out with the bad.

IT does sis. Those things are vain and idolatry. Christmas is not a Christian holiday. It is nowhere in the Bible. The Tree is idolatry (Jeremiah 10:1-5). The Jewellery and the make up the scripture speaks against it (1 Timothy 2:9-11),(1 Peter 3:3-7),(Deuteronomy 22:5),(Genesis 35:1-4).

Nevertheless, I still do enjoy it as I have some fond memories of some of my relatives who are no longer here with me. As I eloquently stated before salvation has nothing to do with pants, jewelry etc. God looks within the heart of man, (1 Samuel 16:7) and I will allow God to chastise/convict me if I'm wrong in any way. But I'll leave you with this from the late and great Bishop GE Patterson who breaks it down far better than I ever could. Lastly, when you mentioned "idolize" I don't idolize a pagan holiday over God. To idolize is to worship something and or someone over God. I'm not worshiping pants, jewelry, and or pants over God. We are saved by Grace and by Faith and when you live by his WORD not by religion. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PLAY CHRISTIANITY :) :) Great preaching with this video of what not to do... blessings

I dont feel convicted or bad when I do it and I keep asking God to MAKE me feel bad if its bad cuz I would give it up than ruin my relationship with God. I polish my toes as well. I'm currently in a relationship but if I wasn't I would absolutely be more willing to approach a girl if she is dressing modestly versus showing everything off because to me that shows that she's willing to keep herself only for her significant other and not for other man's eyes which also probably means she's actually going to make a better wife than a girl who simply just wants attention and will never be able to get enough

When my friend was pulling up to my house to drop me off, and I realized it, I ran back downstairs to get in the car with my friend because I had on a halter top. My dad didn't see me before I jump back in the car and told my friend to pull off. My dad was yelling from the top of the balcony telling me to not come back!🤣 I still left. If they saw me, I was up to creek. I had to call one of my friends in the neighborhood and ask him to ask his sister if I could borrow a t-shirt. I had them put it out in the mailbox. 🤣🤣 I was more prepared to get in trouble for pulling out of the driveway before being seen with a halter top on. That was equivalent to getting pregnant.🙄

I, too, grew up in a United Pentecostal Church!!! Spent most of my life in the cult!!! Years I can't ever get back!!! I now have Complex PTSD and Religious Trauma Syndrome because of THIS cult!!! Solid base?!!? What?!!? Extreme anxiety, stress, and depression?!!? They put tons of fear into their congregations!!! Fear, guilt, shame, condemnation, and of course, the freaking aspect of ROASTING in the flames of HELL FIRE was ALWAYS used to get us whipped back into shape and keep us from leaving. And, all the HORROR stories of people who dared to LEAVE!!! Car accidents, people getting into plane accidents, diseases, and the list goes on and on of the beyond HORRIBLE things that could happen to you if you ever left the so-called Church. You'd supposedly LOSE the "hedge of protection" you "used" to have, according to the so-called preachers!!! Just scare tactics!!! Do EVERYTHING we tell you to do and you'll go to heaven!!! If you do ANYTHING outside what WE want you to do, you'll split the gates of HELL wide open!!! That's basically the kind of stuff that they put into your head!!! And, so, they have robots, basically!!! Human robots!!! They NEVER are allowed to question anything the so-called preachers brainwash and indoctrinate you to believe over and over again. And, the emotional MANIPULATION of the people?!!? Even using mass hypnosis on the congregations!!! I will NEVER step back into another so-called Church as long as I live!!! And definitely NOT the United Pentecostal Church if I was to ever have a change of heart. Jim Jones used to go to the United Pentecostal Church before he started his own cult and ended up KILLING his congregation by giving them the cyanide laced Kool-aid drinks. And the United Pentecostal Church was just recently listed as one of the Top Ten Cults in America!!! Should've been listed years and years ago!!! So many people's lives have been completely DESTROYED by the abuse of this cult!!! Now, I smoke medical Marijuana all day long to just EASE and CALM my nerves down!!! Having Complex PTSD and Religious Trauma Syndrome is no joke!!! Extreme Trauma!!! That's NOT exactly what I would call a SOLID base!!! And don't get me started on the freaking sexual abuse going on in the so-called Church!!! Rapists, groomers, pedophiles, and even sex traffickers galore!!! And NOTHING is usually done to prosecute the disgusting offenders, which is usually the so-called preachers. But, it's more than just the preachers!!! The Sunday school teachers, the Sunday school bus drivers, etc, etc, etc!!! I protect my kids from the so-called Church people!!! The religious, but anything but moral or Godly!!! The most hateful and judgmental people I've ever known!!! Who do they NOT hate and judge?!!? Hate is NOT a FAMILY value!!! And, usually, it's a PROJECTION of the repugnant and repulsive things that THEY are doing secretly behind closed doors. Like I said, nothing but liars and hypocrites!!! That's been my experience with the United Pentecostals!!! And, I've been to quite a lot of different United Pentecostal Churches during my time with the organization!!! It's THEIR way or the highway!!! They're like dictators over their congregations!!! So many man made rules, too!!! All capable of sending us to HELL if we broke them!!! Or so we thought, anyways!!! Keeping us totally submissive!!! Keeping us in line!!! Through emotional manipulation!!! And, through fear, guilt, shame, etc!!! All really NEGATIVE feelings!!! NEGATIVE ways of looking at yourself and your life!!! All they truly seem to care about is controlling your every single move in life, your thought life, and of course, the MOST important, your hard earned money!!! That's what they truly seem to care about!!! Nothing else!!!

I believed I had the Spirit bcuz some man told me that now that I got baptized (in Gods titles: father son Holy Ghost) that I was now saved with the HG dwelling in me. But something told me otherwise. And on a second occasion I realized I had been duped by the lion himself. I obeyed Gods word and got rebaptized in Jesus and waited like the deciples did in the upper room and Got the HG while worshipping and Loving on the Lord and THEN! But it was all innocent, we weren't boy crazy, we all graduated with honors, we all maintained our virginity until we were adults and married AND STIL 'til this day all of us never drink we've never smoked; we put our Creator above everything else, so calm down comment section.
Every human being, including the judgmental ones in this comment section, constantly goes through growing pains & changes of Life which includes mental, physical and spiritual searching on life's journey.
People in these comments don't give credit that the skit is about youth, a developing brain, raging teen hormones and trying to understand growing into adulthood. Just laugh and move on.

Some of these congregations are so controlling, strict, and judgmental that you simply would rather conform around them than be ostracized or isolated. Then you have the opposite end where people look and act like they are at the club and exhibit no shame or modesty. It can be really difficult to navigate especially for young people and people who are just entering a religion.

One problem in being raised in a strict denomination is that sometimes it can seem to the child (even those who are willing to be humble & honest with God-- which does not seem to be the case here, but just trying to find a way around obeying her parents) that Christianity is based not on a relationship with God, but just following the rules set forth by a religion, which is man's way of working their way to God by keeping a set of rules that must be kept in order to be right with Him. But the Bible says we are not saved by works, "For it is by [God's] grace that we have been saved, not by works, so that no one can boast" (Eph. 2:8-9). However, the sign of true faith in God is fruit, and it says, "You will know a tree by its fruit." It's sad that the only fruit this young woman is bearing is disobeying her parents and being deceptive. I know that her parents are involved in a denomination that is among the strictest, but the Bible (God) clearly states that children should be obedient to their parents (the 5th Commandment, found in many places in God's Word: www.openbible.info/topics/children_obeying_their_parents
I was raised in a strict household, and although it was not because of going to church or practicing religion (for I went to church by myself much of the time, if my siblings weren't able to go after they got jobs or moved out), but I did get really involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes where I heard the Gospel for the first time and understood that God wanted to be my Father but I needed to confess my sin nature before Him and ask for forgiveness of my sins, which Jesus took on and paid the penalty for it on the cross & defeated it by resurrecting from the dead. They told me that I should read at least one chapter from the Bible per day, which I did, stating with the first book in the Bible (b/c no one told me where to started in the New Testament, but I'm glad because by reading the I'll Testament first, I understood God's holiness in a different way I would have if I started elsewhere. I didn't understand a lot of it, but it was important to me to read it so that I could learn more about God because I didn't have any other resources besides Christian radio (& the catecism of a conservative branch of the Luthuran Church). I was like a person dying of hunger or thirst, so I feasted on the Bread of Life and clung to the words of Psalm 42:1, where King David stated, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs after You, O Lord."
There were times that I was forbidden to go to church, or threatened with not being able to if I got in my guardian (adopted parent's) bad side or if she got in a bad mood. So my perspective is different that this person who is forced to go. I'm glad for my circumstances because I appreciate the privilege of going to church, even though it wasn't the kind of church I may have chosen. If I had the opportunity to mentor this young woman, I would tell her it is unwise to disobey parents (unless the parents are being abusive). I began a personal relationship with God when I was 13 (34 years ago!!! 😮), and my parent was adament about me not getting my ears peirced, wearing makeup, getting my hair cut, and even wearing a bra until I was old enough in her eyes-- which was much older than my friends, and I was teased a lot for being different, but some of those very same friends have confessed that they were just jealous of my "long beautiful hair" back then. And as far as make-up goes, I like really young now as a result of not using a bunch of chemicals all the time (some of which have been linked with cancer). If I were to be mentoring this young woman, I would listen to her, tell her I can relate to how she feels and to any teasing/ bullying she may have gone through, and then I'd suggest that she search her heart to see if there is any sense of rebellion or deception in her heart. While I feel sad for her, I also fear that she will continue to go down the road of bucking against her parents' (God's, simply b/c they are her parents') rules and that this will lead to either ignoring other authority figures' rules (if it hasn't already), particularly if she's doing it to get acceptance from her peers. I would say that I know it's hard right now, but after high school-- and especially after college, where there is a whole lot less peer pressure-- unless she is in a sorority, which I totally avoided for that reason, because God had convinced me that my standing with people is only temporary, but my standing with Him was eternal & because that has eternal consequences, I sought to "please God rather than [people]" (100 verses about this: www.openbible.info/topics/pleasing_god_rather_than_people), especially when I discovered Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it heartily as for the Lord and not for [people]."

Growing up in the Apostolic Pentecostal environment as a third generation Apostolic. I can truly say it's a heart thing. We all look at it differently. True conviction comes from the holy spirit not a religious tradition. Modesty is important, but not looking like the "world" and still missing the mark is possible. I've been in churches where the short sleeved t shirt and jeans got me "side eyed". It's sad but were not all like this. I pray we all love and not be judgemental like the sanhedrin court. LOVE NEVER FAILS! As a future Senior Pastor were going to love on you regardless from the beginning. And give you time while letting the Word of God transform you. Many or us did this living double lives "looking the part but not being it". Yet God walked with us, I thanked God for his GRACE over me. For all those watching this I'm praying for you, grow in faith in GOD, he's definitely worth serving.

I simply said, “That’s between her and the Lord.” She looked me dead in the eye and said,”You’re my mother. You should be making me wear skirts and dresses.” I was a new Christian at the time. I had told my 3 kids (11&8 yr old) that after they grew out of certain things I would no longer be buying them. I love them unconditionally and I believe they know that. I feel badly for those who have not had it like that, who have been bullied and oppressed and believe they will never be good enough or live up to their parents/churches standards. It’s never about how good you can be or what you wear. It’s only about Him. I wear what I wear not because I HAVE to but because I want to please Him. It’s not for everyone and that’s ok. • @DaVizzle_Bro
      @DaVizzle_Bro 9 месяцев назад +2

@Libertas.Aeterna1776 nope. It'll be because she knowingly chose to disobey her parents and her pastor in being taught the standards of Holiness. The Bible (and actually more specifically God Himself) said that if you are a child of God that you are to "come out from the world and be ye separate" basically meaning that once you are saved, the Spirit of God will put convictions in your heart to not talk like the world, to not act like the world, and YES, to not dress like the world. If you see a firefighter, or a police officer, or a soldier, or a fry cook, or a heart surgeon, etc. Etc, you know exactly who you're looking at because of the way that they're dressed. How strange is it then when people become confused of why they think that being saved just means you can continue talking, acting, and dressing the same way you were before you became "a new creature in Christ" as the New Testament puts it. Not saying that you have to change everything about yourself the day that you become saved (nor do I think that God would expect that from you) But It shouldn't take too long If you truly were saved to figure those type of things out Because your pastor and church elders around you would have discipled you And taught you Right from wrong and about what pleases and displeases God. God is a merciful lamb but he is also A lion And a lot of people forget that. God is all loving, but you cannot be all loving without being just. God is never going to force anybody into heaven if they don't want to go, in other words, God is not going to force anybody to have a relationship with Him if they choose they don't want to actually have one. Salvation Is not about shaking a preacher's hand Or repeating A couple of Bible verses and then only going to church on Easter and Christmas But it's about having a daily walk with God, and if you have a daily walk with God then you're probably not going to be making youtube videos flaunting what you know would be displeasing to Him. Thats Rebellion and rebellion stems from pride which is definitely not something a true follower of Christ would have in their heart.

Yes, it is true that God‘s word tells us that a woman should not wear anything that pertain to a man, and it also explains to us why we should not choose to wear jewelry, because of what it meant and symbolized in the word of God. However, those things will come out of conviction, personal conviction from the Holy Ghost when you have the right relationship with God, and you have been filled with his spirit, we are only led by the spirit of God, not by what man dictates to us, but what God says in his word. I am thankful to have a pastor in my life who doesn’t judge or threaten individuals by their choices. However, he preaches the truth, and allows the Holy Ghost to convict them of those things, we are all going to stand before God one on one on judgment day no one is going to be there to hold Our hand. It will be us in Jesus, so just know if you seek a true relationship with the Lord, he will convict you of certain things, but he is a gentleman and he has given us a free will so we have to make those choices for ourselves, because we love him, we want to be pleasing to him. Be blessed.

Growing up, we never had the chance or choice to choose between what was right and wrong ourselves. Whenever we did something that was not seen as right, at least to have the feel or experience, we were judged and put on the spotlight there and then by everyone in church. I, however, grew up a strong-willed person, so to this day, I still don't know how it feels like to say, "I have to change," but I do have and see fellow pks in this situation, I don't judge them though because I understand. And, yes, God is love! And God loves us so very much. He is a VERY merciful and VERY forgiving God.
BUT, He also DOES require something of us. He does have rules we must follow. He sees not as man sees but sees our hearts. Yes! Truth! But, what does man see in THIS young lady? A “Pentecostal” girl? Her HEART shows another matter entirely. So very sad.

@@sandracapps5543 Yes. you are right I won't deny that all I was trying to say is that PKs don't get to grow up learning and making mistakes, they are just born and automatically put in the spotlight where they are judged for every decision they make while other children grow up and are never judged. Ultimately, they are human too, bound to make mistakes so they don't deserve to be judged or talked about. My personal view though, everyone has their own 🤷‍♀

I was taught from a young age, “if it’s not on your insides, then it sure won’t show on your outsides” (appearances).
The same is also true- If the outside looks like the world then the inside is not clean. If you don’t like that then maybe you need the Holy Ghost because it’s the truth anyhow!

I, like you, grew up in a Pc pastor's home. I am so thankful for that, because it gave me a rock-solid foundation for life. Both my parents have gone on to a better place- PLEASE, cherish them while you can. Don't live with a lot of regret.

This mostly happens when a person is still bound by the devil and has not yet had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.

It happens because the doctrine takes the Christian liberty and causes people to live a lie trying to be perfect and no one is

You don’t have to be a pentecostal to lie or be a rebel, people are people and we are all sinners in Need of our Savior Jesus Christ! Don’t forget about the things we all did when we were young , If we are honest we all got a little bit of dirt! Come on now!
