I can see you becoming the face of this game on youtube. You have a great passion and it makes the game seem easier to approach. good stuff man. I'd love to see maybe a lets play style video
I never played it before the UI change, however I see a lot of comments saying that it was one of the best updates to have been released. I looked at some photos of the old UI and... damn, did it need the refreshment!
One thing i'll add about cursed items is that cursed combat magic staves (ice, fire, lightning, bloodletting and magic missle) are pretty safe to equip because staves dont have a lot of durability and fire fast so they break really easily and they don't have any negative stats associated with them so you can go ham with those staves. I find this pretty useful in gnomish mines since you'll get a lot of staves there so you can use the cursed ones for that floor and save any blessed staves for later
You're completely right, cursed staves are incredibly valuable for leveling up magic/casting levels most certainly because they're so easy to remove once they're equipped. I can't say the same for melee weapons and armor pieces-- although it IS possible to break them, I find the extremely tedious to do so.
I just got the game and while I’m not very good at it, I have been having a lot of fun!! The amount of times I died for a rock is so silly but I always get a good laugh out of it!! Nice video
I really appreciate the kind words! I'm super happy you're having a good time playing Barony! :) it's an awesome game, just needs regular updates and it's set for the moon!
As someone who is buying Barony soon, I areally appreciate this, and other vids explaining the game in detail regarding the early game. Early stages can make or break a game for players, so keep up the good work!
I remember one of my first runs ever. I put on a blindfold. It was cursed. My friend was there and thought it was hilarious and so did I so we kept playing. We made it to the jungle area before we died. That was when I realized how fun this game could be even with no vision.
Just starting Barony for the first time, I really appreciate your videos! You have a very soothing voice and your enunciation is on point. Great set of videos! Keep it up!

Make sure to watch the other videos for a good place to start ;) I really appreciate the kind words though, thank you! Anything you'd want to learn more about specifically?
Definitely get back into it! When the new update launches, there's gonna be so much more content to explore. Play it when you're ready though, don't force it! :)
Thank you for the great video! this game is a lot of fun but man theres almost no videos about this game and having a content creator making videos is a great sight indeed! I hope you can continue to make more videos as time goes on! especially about more complex or obscure mechanics
I really appreciate the kind words! I'm having a lot of fun making them, and to be honest I don't know why there's a shortage of videos for Barony-- its a ton of fun and there's so much to learn! :)
I completely agree! Sometimes carrying a torch isn't a great idea with how enemies are able to see you within light, so a high perception stat is great in those moments alone!
That's because you can! If you hover over perception after you press tab, it'll tell you how many extra tiles you can see through darkness, and perception is the stat attributed with appraisal, so the better your perception, the easier it is to appraise stuff.
Perception is THE stat that appraisal uses! With a negative perception, you're unable to appraise anything. With 0 PER, you can just barely appraise a few things. Anything above that and you're good to go!
Ahahaha yeah it's very easy to get frustrated with Barony LOL. Super fun game though!! It's super rewarding to get to each stage- glad you enjoyed the video though!! :)
I've seen the old UI in old screenshots and I have to agree. It absolutely has more character and charm, although the last one did as well, but it looked clunky for sure lol. I'm hoping they kick out some more badass updates to get the older players back in, and newer players the opportunity to experience such a great game!
Hello! I just started playing this with some friends to make content for my channel and your tips helped a lot!! Thanks Doogz!! I spent 2 1/2 hours making it to the Baron for the first time only to get one shot.. lol
Having fun is really the most important part. I was playing Barony with my boyfriend and he was dying quite a bit to boulders hitting him, of course I sassed him for running around too quickly. Later on, I picked up a ring with a random teleport effect, I knew it was a terrible idea but I put it on anyway for a laugh... Got teleported straight into a boulder.
Good video but ima have to knock down a few score points for the informational side of things… during your section on appraisal/identifying items you forgot to mention how perception can affect any attempt to get it going properly with some classes starting on negative Perception due to how that stay in particular effects your appraisal skill. With some classes with negative perception that are good for early game due to their general strengths and early game dmg being Monk, Warrior, and Barbarian which are simple due to not needing to learn spells and synergy and mana management as hard if new for Arcanist or Wizard. To offset the negative perception, it comes down to 3 methods. 1. Find glasses if you can (+1 Per Guaranteed UNLESS cursed, Succubus/incubus hates blessed tho), 2. Get lucky with lv2 or lv3 stat ups giving you a point in Per to start the appraisal train, 3. This takes a friend or if you want a controller to dummy in a mechanistic to make glasses for you or for the other player to be a class with at least 0 per and having found moldy cheese early. Other then that the rest of the information was spot on.
You're absolutely right, there are definitely a few hiccups here and there. It's my first few Barony videos so mistakes are bound to happen! But yes you're right. In my opinion the best strategies for increasing perception in the early game, although kinda dependent on luck, is finding those glasses or hitting that lucky stat increase from leveling up. That's something I neglected to add but I greatly appreciate the insight!!
@@roogeydoogz We all make mistakes my guy hell I noticed spelling errors in my comment I had to fix along with a bit more info namely as the glasses can be cursed, I forgot to add which will just give 0 or Neg Per XD, just thought I'd throw my comment in to expand upon the lost information in case folks read through the mass of comments for anything at all :D
I recently had my best run with a buddy. We were doing well after I watched your class video for beginners, just to end up both dying to 1 boulder. We had a good laugh

great video! the game is overwhelming but the one thing that pisses me off the most is the lighting. i use a torch but i still want my shield. most of my deaths is me forgetting to put on my shield again and just dying. so much to learn 😅
Haha I know right! I remember my first time making it past the first stage... I had decent gear and over-prepped like crazy, turned the corner to see a Goblin wearing a jester hat and he chased me into that initial spawn area and quickscoped me with a fire staff. Fuck those guys!
Just started playing for the first time a couple days ago. 12 hours logged so far and I just now beat the first level 😂. Seriously, I died more times during the tutorial than I do most souls games.....this game is really really hard haha, I love it.
My girst game was with the Mesmir succubus. I loved it! Controlling a succubus who was controlling a few monsters. A funny bones of my own. It was great. Then on the 2nd level, i met Mr. boulder. I dodged it!!!! Woohoo! My friends did not. X3
I personally REALLY enjoy playing Mesmer!! I wish it was a tad bit stronger though. Her gimmick is just ever-so-slightly underwhelming, BUT I have a ton of fun charming monsters and using them as my meat shields lol. I'd love to see a starting spell that charms monsters, maybe at the cost of HP? Maybe it only lasts for like 20 seconds or so, I'm not sure, but yeah as you can tell I have a ton of fun playing Mesmer! :)
I was trying out this game yesterday and we had a pretty good run. We went to stage 17 and everything looked great. But then suddenly the merchant got angry and wiped out our party.

Very sorry for the late response, but if you're trying to "min/max" your playthrough, it's almost always best to use one particular weapon, usually the one your class has the highest skill level with (i.e: Ninja & swords, Knight & polearms, Barbarian & Axes, etc) However, if you find yourself in a pinch and face an enemy with a particularly high resistance to that weapon, it's a fantastic idea to swap to one they're weak to in order to quickly take them out.
