The problem with this sort of trend mentality is that they don't often fit the structure or architecture or even the person's personality. Interiors are made to be a cocoon, a sanctuary for the family or persons who inhabit them, not a social statement or status. So if you're moody and love detail, go for the elaborate trim and dusky colors or if you're a bright, sunny sort of sprite and like a lot of simplicity and order, surround yourselves with white and light woods.
I just buy what I personally like and it seems to come together in a mish mash, following trends is a fools game really unless you have loads of money. Im glad the white is over though, if i see another white house that feels like a doctors surgery pretty sure ill just scream lol.
It’s nice to see a mature person talking about design trends because I feel like there needs to be more diversity in the interior design community online. All perspectives are helpful
Well said! and, many of us "mature" people have seen these trends from the first time around! but Classic and Classy is always in good taste. Good materials, natural materials, can be timeless. Things that "age well".....like Miriam!

Yes I love this! I heard traditional or ‘transitional’ was coming back and that is my favorite style!! Can’t wait to see more livable luxury in this style.
I love the traditional, darker cherry and mahogany furniture, like Queen Anne and Chippendale styles. I also love blue willow plates and blue and white Chinese porcelain, as well as some Imari and some green celadon porcelain. I'm so glad my style is coming back!!! 👍😀
I agree, home is all about what makes you and all who dwell there happy! I am not a fan of brown clothing, furniture etc. everting else you mentioned as a trend is a go!💗🌷💗
I prefer a simple calming vibe, so not so big on all the wall detail, but I love that the warmer colors are coming back. Our home is in warm beiges and mixed browns, lots of texture, which feels very cozy. I’ve never liked the bright whites (too harsh) or the greys which just look like winter skies to me. We live on a river so the views are priority and our main focal points, and our light, but warm interiors just feel right here. Thanks for a very enlightening video.
New fan. Have always been a fan of your classic style. You’re one of the best presenters I have seen…you don’t rush through it and explain very well how to use whatever your presenting.
That outfit is amazing. I love the sequin pants with the silk blouse. Funny, As I am listening to you, I’m tucking red silk pajama pants into a pair of riding boots & calling it good.
@@miriammanzointeriors hello Miriam, I just discovered your video by incident and like your way of presenting. And the brilliant pictures and ideas. Seems I' m in trend without knowing, cause I've been loving this style for many years now. Even though my flat ist very small. I also like your clothing and checked out this Label. Very nice dresses, pants and skirts. How interesting, that you buy from a Label from the Netherlands. I thought you must be based in the US. Thanks for the good content and greetings from Germany 😊
I enjoy your perspective and I love your "pearls of style". I always get great "takeaways" that I can use to help me define my own style. Thank you Miriam. Also, I love your hair! It is a beautiful look for you!
I am so grateful for your videos. You have taught me so much about interior design, in a manner that is informative. I enjoy that you use timeless classic elements but with a modern panache. I also appreciate that your style is luxurious, but you teach us how to incorporate less expensive pieces (i.e. IKEA), which allows us to create a high-end feel without the expense. THANK YOU, Miriam!
Thanks for the sophisticated and elevated discussion on trends. I really love your style. The idea of incorporating vintage and antiques with modern materials and designs appeals to me.
This is what I like about "trends" -- if there is a style or a combination of them that I love and they come on trend that means there is plenty out there to choose from! Same with clothing. If grey comes into fashion I will buy a lot of clothing while I can get gray. All the trends described here are very "classic" whether they are traditional or contemporary in twist. I love the images you use, Ms. Manzo and your content is intelligent and to the point. Just found you -- delighted!
We have lived in our 1916 two story home for 39 years. I think I have been through it all in this house. I'm 66 now and when we moved in with our 3 little daughters the house was very old fashioned, layers and layers of wallpaper that I had to spend what seemed like forever to scrape off. I will never follow that trend again! I used to like dark colors, but now they seem depressing. The darkest color in my house is a very pretty green in my bedroom that I never tire of. The rest of the house is more in neural tones and white with a lot of the natural woodwork. As far as decorating, I would say I'm mostly tradition with a couple treasured antique pieces that were passed down to me. Thank you for your content. I really enjoyed it.
I'm a student for Interior design, and i love all Miriam Manzo videos, i took all her advices and all her as inspiration. I'm a traditional of course so this are very good news for me!
First off, your sequined pants are gorgeous!!!! I watch a lot of 'trend' posts at the beginning of every year and usually have a good laugh and also have to cringe when they actually are insulting to younger people who are just trying their best. Your post was spot on (in my opinion), especially when you mention why people are warming up their homes. I live in a 1902 Victorian that I have managed to respect the original aesthetic yet keep it relevant and fun. On another note, I really like the fluted woodwork but worry the fluted glass could be easily dated even though I like it as well. We are having our kitchen renovated in about a month and now I am toying with some fluted glass cabinets. I guess it would be an easy swap out if I tired of it. Thank you for yet another lovely video.
Loved the fact that traditional is back. The warm colors, woods, trims its what makes a home cozy and elegant at the same time. Thank you for the video. It was great!
Love your channel wish there was more of it I love a classic style that will last the test of time your mill work is also one of my favorites And by the way your outfit looked bling but so classy
Good job Miriam. I love the way you began with yourself. Your pants and blouse made the perfect illustration. And your hair looks lovely. P.s. it is rare that I comment on a video. Yes to wallpaper!
The scrolled trim work in one of your examples was exquisite. I love French Country too. I've always loved book cases and built-ins so it's great to see them coming back.
Another amazing video! Thank you. Since Miriam asked . . .my favorite is wallpaper. Glad to see it’s back in favor. Perhaps because there are new and easier products for the DIY market. Of course, the real key to a beautifully wallpapered room is prep! I’ve heard too many folks say they didn’t like wallpaper because it was difficult to remove - so true when the surface wasn’t prepped. As far as my least favorite, it’s the dark room trend (as popularized by the Netflix series, Wednesday). It’s great in other people’s homes, but I live in Florida now, and it doesn’t work very well here with a few exceptions like powder rooms.
Love! Love your videos so interesting and informative. So many great trends coming back. Interior trends as in fashion just go round and round but with a different twist on them each time. I like to decorate more in a timeless way which many of these New trends as you call them as timeless. I don't like the dark rooms unless they are small like the bachelor powder room you did. Fabulous wallpaper. Love wallpaper!
I am still drawn to contemporary and neutrals, but I really like to hear about all the new trends every year. You can make anything look really spectacular
Wow good to hear this, because I never follow trends. I follow what I love to put in my home. I do not care for modern contemporary decor.. I like to fill my home with a bit of early American meets English cottage, and a bit of Country French. Which in turn, becomes me, warm and cozy and inviting. I never over do with one style or the other, with my eye, and sense of style it just knows how to fit in with each other beautifully...I also love looking for unique pieces that catch my eye and speaks to me..I then have to have it in my home because it's not the trend of the day. And no one else has it, because they weren't looking for it, but I me. I enjoy your channel, you have great style in decorating some beautiful homes. I'm glad I saw your video, it just validates what I have been doing all my life.
Fantastic video. Really love how you incorporated so many ideas on how we could transition our current look to these "trending" design elements. Thank you!!
Although I can appreciate the trend for dark spaces, it doesn't seem appropriate for Southern Florida where I live. At least not in my contemporary home with huge sliders overlooking palm trees. But, we did have grasscloth wall paper installed in our den last year as a change from all the other white walls. It cozies up the space without darkening it much and the color makes the trim on the arched windows in the room pop. My husband creates very large, very bright paintings, so, our walls really need to be white in most of the rooms. I enjoy all your videos.
Hi Miriam, I am one of your early subscribers. Thank you for your wonderful range of design topics. Your videos are always clear and crisp, warm and relatable. I love all these trends....especially the traditional details. But I feel like it would look out of place at my house cause it's rather modern. Also..we are very close to the Italian border so Italian furniture and design is everywhere. I might need to buy a house in the UK or US. 😊 Great video Miriam 👍🏻
I added wall paper to the small visit powdered room with flowers and birds, but not huge. That will be tiring for me. My pent house apartment is very trendy, lol. That’s because our decoration is always been like that ! We’ve done some remodeling and added accent walls with wall paper, no big flowers, mind you. Loved your video.
Would the room you’re sitting in be considered ‘transitional?’ Because the shelving, wainscoting, and decor is classic, but the chair and accent table seem contemporary. It’s beautiful and totally me! ❤
Off white / beige was in style in the 80's. We painted the hall and living room off white or beige. After a few years I felt I was living with dirty walls and never used off white beige again.
I love all these trends. I feel like the spinner has finally landed on my spot! And you look amazing, Miriam!
