Liked and subscribed. Hah! answered my question on the first video. I was having the same problem with my C24 monster truck build. I`m trying to hang onto my RES-3 board mostly to keep the motor sounds And to utilize my brushless motor. To put it simply, both the RES-3 board And the external speed control need power. Excellent. I was hesitant as I`ve blown up 2 other RES-3 boards hooking the battery up backwards, lol! Your work bench looks exactly like mine 🙂 I have a little RUclips channel, too and all comments are appreciated Thank you for the video. PS. I am in Texas USA and I was chatting with a mate of mine near you. I told him it never rains here, but when it does, people go crazy and wreck their cars. He said that you all go crazy when the sun shines 😆
Hi! I'm trying to understand ESCs and their usage/ output and you've satisfied my curiosity well enough. I've got a WPL C24 and i think I'll be ok with just the Res V3 Thanks
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556my car is blinking and the remote as well then when I click bind on remote it stops blinking on remote but the car still blinks and doesn’t connect 😢please HELP
Yes I was wondering the same thing so I thought I would try it. To be honest I don't think I did it justice with that ESC. Trouble is the stock system works pretty well and I liked the 'scale feel' it gave. This is a little less refined, and I think with a more expensive ESC there would definitely be more advantages. Thanks for taking the time to comment.m👍👍
I really like the RES V3 also. I can't see spending more money for a marginal improvement or in this case IMO a disadvantage. However I do appreciate your efforts as I was curious.
@@troylaplante8599 I think a better quality ESC would probably furnish better results. But my nagging feeling is, because of the torque from the low range gear. It already spins all the wheels if traction is lost quite happily, so more power in this case would not help at all. The only benefit I think would be gained is making the high gear a little smoother with a little more crawl, so low range wouldn't have to be selected as often? 👍
The advantage is, if you want to use a brushless motor you can connect the brushless esc to the res-v3. That is what in the original diagram shows. Or if you want to use a bigger amps brushed esc & motor.
I have a few of those esc and they don’t have the granularity needed for crawling. If and when I get a WPL I’ll probably use my SCX24 esc or a Hobbywing 1060.
Man, I always love your videos. This video helped me a lot man, now I have no problems with my car thanks soo much for making your great videos. Keep up the awesome work!!!!!!! 👍
Glad to know. Thanks, you saved my burger money. I was wondering if I should order an esc. I plan on installing a V3 in my MN99s, once it arrives! I already have the 370 2 speed installed with stock MN electronics. I fear it may be going out though, haha. (The electronics not the motor)
I got me an external ESC but when I was going to connect it, I noticed the connector on the RES V3 has 2 cables, black and white and the middle is empty. The one from the ESC has 3: black, red and white. I was afraid to burn something, or everything lol so I stumbled upon this video while researching. Does it work like that?
Hello. Yes because the middle wire would normally be the feed to the receiver from the ESC. But on WPL's system they are both powered directly from the battery. :)
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 I tried, but the external ESC is not getting power (it works in another car), so I guess I have to either use 2 batteries or a splitter. I ordered a proper receiver a couple of days ago though, so I better wait for that instead of blowing up my house haha thnks for the reply :)
You can, but I wouldn't bother. Although it gives you a bit more power it robs a bit of the controllability at small throttle inputs. To me personally it wasn't enough of an advantage to warrant keeping the ESC on. Hope this helps. 👍👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 yeah I saw that thanks man!! (N I ordered the printer today n 4 wpl's lol it's that fkn covid it got us all crazy. ;) )

Hello 👋. Yes, when it stops raining, we all go outside and get sunburnt! 😅
Hi, my friend I have does 20amp ESC and also 40 amp ESC the 40 gives you more control at low speed and more maximum speed too 💾💿👍
I've actually removed it now, the standard setup was pretty good. 👍👍

@evoxgamerz5877 I think the newer res3 boards have a jumper for two separate cars. I'd the jumper in the correct position?
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 i did remove it once before it was working then it isn’t
Always wondered why WPL did the external ESC and what the advantage would be. Thanks for the video.
