If you put the bird run against the bird house ,you would not need the tarp on the side . It would make the bird run a lot stronger by anchoring it to the bird house some way. Also you could cut a little door way on the side and under the bird house . If they had to get in their house fast ,a larger animal could not get them and the birds could not get in to their house. Just a thought!
I actually like the idea of attaching the run to the bird house and cutting a low opening the goes under the bird house so the door can be kept closed and only animals cat size or smaller would be able to get in and out of the run.
Im just gonna put this out there. Made me think of it, and it was a near catastrophe for the dog owners. I was workin at vet clinic had an emergency come in where a dog was chewin on wood. He got a piece actually STUCK in his mouth and it ended up sideways. He couldnt even close hs mouth. Ended up having to have surgery to remove it.
I have a Catahoula, best training tool e-collar, I use the beep button to let her know to back off. Works real good. I don't live on a farm, I live in the city. These are the best dogs ever.
I have been a cat owner for 60 years. If you are going to leave the top door open, you could try putting a thin rug over the top of the bottom door so they have some thing to grab. Worked for me❤️🇨🇦
Go to TSC and get some rebar (steal rods or cement rods) cut them to as long as you want turn the top to hook over the bottom rod of the cat pen And it will be staked down.❤ Keep the videos coming !
@@nancydumas2906 Just saying they didn’t let the birds in the run the wind blew the run open, so to say and then they went in on their own !! But I definitely hear what your saying !!
Hey guys just a suggestion but don't let Bruno in the cats run or they won't come back as they will think it's an unsafe place to be. Your doing brilliant though. Love watching your vlogs 😁
I woke up this morning and checked the weather app. 6° and we are to get prepared for a cold spell for the next few days. Good thing I had my son wash all my extra blankets for me last week. It was awesome seeing Bruno trying to get along with the cats. My pitbull "granddaughter" , Bella's BFF is one of our kittens we call Junior. They are so funny together. Jr. was born here. So he's known Bella all his life. It's funny because when Junior and his brother, Adam, start fighting for some reason, Bella will go and stand in-between them to try and get them to stop fighting.
So glad to see the kitties can come and go from there safe place now. I would highly recommend creating a box enclosure for the kitty food. Just make a frame and wrap it in chicken wire, so you can see in, and the kitties are to drop down into it to access there food. The same can be done for the litterbox, but I'd make it a bit more private. This will keep Bruno out of it, which is of utmost importance! Cat food AND cat poo is beyond WAY too high in protein for a dogs system to handle. Seeing Bruno eating what he did in this video.....well it was rather terrifying to watch. You think what you went through with Harry or Larry (the light colored one) when they went into crisis from eating Herk's food was scary..... a dog, especially a male dog, will go into un-reversible renal failure from eating cat food. Yes I know dogs eat protein, but the type of protein used in cat food is the wrong kind of protein for a dog to tolerate. I know this from experience so please, PLEASE heed my warning and create a safe place for the food and the litterbox to keep the dogs out of it.
You guys are doing great with the cats and all your animals. I was shocked that the cats didn't go after the guineas! We get the cold blast starting tomorrow here in KY. Hope you are able to stay warm and please be safe. God Bless, and I love you guys!! 💕💕
I'd worry about leaving the door open on the cat pen at night. It will attract critters like raccoons. The guinea's will likely eat the cat food too once they realize its there
I hope and pray that Bruno doesn’t lose an eye. My brother brought a puppy home to his cats and pup was blinded in one eye by one of the cats. This is hard for me to watch. Love and prayers from NC 💕🙏💕🙏💕🙏
The Catahoula Leopard Dog is an American dog breed named after Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. It became the state dog of Louisiana in 1979. It is recognized by the United Kennel Club under the name Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, while the American Kennel Club Foundation Stock Service calls it Catahoula Leopard Dog. Both registries have assigned the breed a herding designation, although it has traditionally been used in hunting feral boars.
Fix yourself a slotted door to put on the bottom half. Big enough for the cats to get in and out, but not Bruno. Also, if you get the screw in dog tie-outs and put 2 on each side of the coup, you can take a couple of ratchet straps that you use on your trailer and throw them over the top to tie the coup down. Just a suggestion that I know works because I've done this to my shed, like yours, here in Florida, and it's still standing!
I love kitty's and I'm afraid for them. I know what a great jaw grip they have. One bite and kitty is gone. Please keep a close watch on them I love you both, you have a beautiful place and you have worked hard to get it that way..❤❤❤
Yes. A cat can scratch but dogs are way more likely to kill cats with their more powerful bite. It makes me very anxious. They are such beautiful kitties. Too clean to have been just outdoors. I do think they like their enclosed home yet to be able to get out when they want.
So glad you have added the cats to the property. I am a crazy cat lady myself. They are wonderful to have around. Please, pleased learn about Biochar. Your lovely fires could also be used to create the best most nutritious soil for your future vegetable garden and to share with your parents and your brothers. The Biochar is worth its weight in gold, because it can house the micro organisms in the soil that will feed the plant’s micronutrients for decades to come. I live in a city where we are not allowed to have a fire, so I am very jealous of your freedom. Buying Biochar is very expensive but it is worth every penny. You can make it for free or almost free if you choose to buy the bottled nutrient solution to soak the Biochar in. It is much easier and less smelly to buy the nutrient solution than to make it from scratch. You are doing so much great work to improve your property. Learning to make Biochar as you are enjoying your fires would be an easy and long lasting investment to improving your property and your family’s properties. Plus you could barter your soaked Biochar for their home grown vegetables.😊
You will have raccoons, possums and coyotes in that run if you don't figure out a door that is accessible only for your kitties. All that food and smells will attract them.🌿💛🌿
Since y’all like to really think things through, like our family members have said…..you need to figure out a way for just the kitties to get their food. You don’t want to entice the wild creatures. It would just be awful for a Ricky to get them or a Wil..E (coyote)getting their food or them for a snack.
I think God just giggled at your plan, He always has His own way! It always tends to be the best outcome in hindsight! Don’t worry just thank God for doing His thing. Least that’s how I see it.♥️ My dogs love chocolate cat crunch cake too! Crazy dogs!
Looks like Mother Nature (wind) helped speed up the introductions that you were anxious about. Bruno has already claimed the kitties, as was evident when he put himself between them and Herc in a previous video. The cats will put him in his place if he gets too close. Glad to see things are going well, God bless.
You should put T post at the corners to keep you cat pen anchored. Use bands you use on auto radiator hose to secure as they screw down tightening the band they work very well.
I have an outdoor catio that can be accessed from inside the house just recently with all the rain. I bought a canvas tarp, and it might be something to consider for the goat hay center, and the cat runs.
The birds are almost bigger then the cat. When I was a kid we had chickens we also had an indoor/outdoor cat. He was a hunter bringing mice and rats home to show. Sometimes a song bird would be included, but never a chicken.

Kyle and Shannon Thank You for sharing! Might I suggest you take four T-Post and hammer them into the ground and attach the cat's run to the T-Post so that they don't blow away?? We had to do that to both of our chicken runs. Here in South Central Kansas it's not abnormal to have 30-40 mile hour sustained winds with gusts up to 60-70 miles an hour! 🙄 We learned a long time ago to make sure everything is secure or we'll be retrieving it from the other side of the road or out of our pond! 🤷🤦 Have a wonderful evening and stay warm. Heading out to check waters making sure that they're not frozen. Much love from our family to your family 💞

I wouldn’t let the kitties roam free at night with coyotes and owls around.. and yes a large owl will get a cat or small dogs..
Absolutely, unfortunately lost two adult cats to owls!!
😊 I loved the video. It was fantastic. Thank you. Love the animals. Love ya! OHANA.....

Seriously. You need to use the shock collar more on Bruno. To not eat the food or pester the cat when it is under the little shed.
Put a shelf next to the door for Kit to jump on it will give him time to decide if he wants to go out
