There are always exceptions. For example, I'm from Minnesota in the United States, and everyone thinks that everyone sounds like the characters from Fargo. Yes, most of the people who live here sound like that, but it's more common in rural areas. In the city where I live, the accent is much less strong, and many of us make an effort to hide our Minnesotan because we want to sound more neutral. But then if I want to make my partner laugh I'll lay it on really thick and start talking like Merle the Chicken Farmer from Brainerd.

I am here, again, because I found it so hilarious😂 These guys are great at taking the mic out of each other. My girlfriend is from North Wales and my mates down south refer to her as *the Gogleddian*. I love the coolness of the Gogs. When she takes me to places I make a point in asking her to speak only Cymraeg when ordering stuff in a shop or restaurant. That adds such a cultural and heritage value that we don't have around Cardiff as much. I have recently moved to the valleys and think I am the only Brazilian in Rhondda. Hospitable welcome everywhere, but it still kept me thinking what the locals made of me. For a while, I thought they were pulling my leg and referring to me as a *love-butt*; the ladies greeted me happily with a " 'ayah luv" whilst the fellas uttered a "right budd?", which for me it sounded more like "ripe butt?". I think I have now sussed out the friendly local salutation and find life in the valleys very nice. So, I am now self proclaimed *a Valleyan* ! Watch out! Don't offend the Welsh in front of me, otherwise I'll go 'favela' on you!👍😂

As a scouser I was well into adulthood before working out my accent was in good part derivative of north wales migrants settling in Liverpool over centuries. On a visit to Rhyl and Prestatyn I was struck by weird scouse accents everywhere before realising it was the local accent (listen to Michael Owen the footballer he's from the area). Add in the Irish influence from the 1800s and voila!! - the scouse accent. It used to puzzle me no end because a few miles beyond the city limits the entire area is broad lancashire. The strong "ckkk" sound as in " book and cook pronounced -booockk, cooockk" etc is pure north wales. I used to think we were part arab 😆😆😆
Most English people think the Liverpool accent is derived from Irish pronunciation and they are unaware of the North Wales pronunciation substratum which is also a major contributor.

My dad is a Welsh speaking welshman from Anglesey, I had a thousand Welsh great aunties and uncles... the accent there is completely different from this video. I love it. For so long I never realised it was his actual accent (although people told he spoke differently, he was just my dad) when he says things like vi-deh-O! ra-deh-O!(video/radio), or Frewwwt (fruit), I thought he was taking the piss! Love my dad, love his accent, and I love being a (grand)son of Wales (with a Welsh name and a Welsh family name).

I lived with a lot of roommates when. I lived in Tahoe. 2 were Scottish, 2 were from England and 1 was from Wales. I’m born and raised in Texas and it took me about a couple months to be able to understand them. Lol it’s like a different language

Wish I had more of an accent. Was brought up on the fringes of the Valleys but my Mum's family are all from Buckinghamshire so my accent doesn't really sound too Welsh. I've been told I sound everything from West Country to Hereford/ Gloucestershire to even Norfolk once. It's a bit of a shame because my Dad's family all have noticeable accents but I don't

As you can see there are lots of different Welsh accents whether you are in North,West, South or Central Wales, it's not that easy to learn as Welsh has a different alphabet & many letters are not pronounced the same as in English..

my girlfriend has a strong welsh accent which i find hard to understand sometimes haha.
I'm from the valleys!!! I love my accent but I really want to be able to switch slightly into a sort of Torchwood or Gavin and Stacey accent.
I adore Ianto's accent! (Gwen and Rhys too of course, but Ianto especially!) It's so nice to see someone talking about Torchwood even more than 10 years on as a lot of people seem to forget it exists.

I heard a welsh accent early today on someone's stream. I thought Scottish was difficult to understand. I don't know what kind of words Welsh be spittin'. Cool accent! Just I don't have the ear for it lmao
As you can see there are lots of different Welsh accents whether you are in North,West, South or Central Wales, it's not that easy to learn as Welsh has a different alphabet & many letters are not pronounced the same as in English..
