Saw your house and gulch sets at Millers Thrillers this past weekend. The house was turned into the entrance for an escape game. Facade looked even better in person.
It's so awesome so far. No one could take on such big projects so last minute and make thing looks so amazing and with such details but the two most creative amazingly talented people like you both. So excited to see it completed.
Lookin good and WE all KNOW how you will pull it all together in the nick of time! Curious, do you all have day jobs? What are your non Halloween decorating occupations? You always seem so busy. Thanks, enjoy the good times and hopefully soon to be mom is feeling good!
We are always busy :( Jeana and I do set construction now for various projects in the entertainment industry. We are freelance so we create our own schedule most of the time.
how exciting!!! this looks awesome to the max!! just right on!! and groovey!!! morning sickness easing up some Jenna? and Chris ain't you ashamed for teasing her about a trip to the Bahamas? now ya gotta take her!! did ya'll ever get unpacked? poor puppy needs a swimming pool--he looks so hot. God bless
The Pirates of North Court so if you glue everything together and paint backs and front sealing it well it should be ok for halloween but since it is thin plywood if it were in wet weather for long periods of time it probably won't hold up forever sometimes it separates and warps. it rains here on them during October and we have been lucky not to have anything get ruined. we keep it off the ground and covered and on their sides so air can circulate around them. if you are concerned you may want to use a thicker plywood siding like 1/2 cdx or something that may last longer. thanks for the comment 😆
Two questions: 1) What do you use for your "mortar?" I've watched a couple of videos where you use this, but I haven't seen where you actually say what it is. 2) At 4:39 in the video I see what appears to be a stone wall in the background. Is that actually a stone/concrete wall or is it a wooden fence painted to look like stone? If it's the latter can you provide the materials you used to build it?
You guys are great at building and painting, but there's some seriously good designing behind it all- You know where / when to break a roof line or thicken a piece of trim to mask where units break apart etc. and the overarching design is always very tight. As if there's a lot of theatre and film training in there [oh yah, our parents were illustrators at Disney for 40 years...]. LIKE.
Phil Rabe thankyou Phil that is a really nice compliment fortunately we have been able to get some practice over the years which has helped us figure out what works best for us and use materials we are comfortable with. it has always been a fun and creative process that forever evolves and gets better and better. thanks again for the feedback. 😉
It really depends on what you want to focus on. First I would think of a theme, cemetery, zombies, pirates, etc. Then go around your house and see if you have any items that may fit your theme. Then create a few props or decorations using those items. Go to Dollar Stores, garage sales and thrift stores. Make things out of paper mache. Check your local Craigslist Free section. Those are all great cheap ways to start building a haunt :)
get your Groove on get your Groove on yeah yeah. looking good!

Looking good. How well do those panels hold up in the weather? I thought about making some panels but not sure they would do well in wet weather.

Who wouldn't choose Slimy Valley over the Bahamas?
Bahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
Make sure you smear a little manure on those walls, so they have the smell of fresh wattle and daub. XD
Ewwwwww....HAHAHA!
Looks awesome!!! Are you both going to dress up on Halloween and scare the little children?!? :P
Yes, Chris will make a beautiful witch don't you think ;)
