Idk what some of you guys are on, the music in Dragonflight is awesome. Sure every expansion is going to have tracks that are bad or mid, but every expansion also has awesome music too. I gotta say I love the Djaradin and the Primalist themes this expansion.
It sounds good, don't get me wrong. However it's nothing compared to pretty much all before Shadowlands and a few highlights in Shadowlands itself. What happend? The soundtracks usually were one of the pinnacles of the game.
Previous WoW music sounded like it was done by some great Orchestra where as all Dragonflight tracks sound like they've made in FL studio by some intern. Which probably isn't far from the truth when you look at the composers, all the old guard is gone, sadly...
Glenn Stafford, Jake Lefkowitz and David Arkenstone composed 10.0 music, and David and Glenn have been working on Warcraft since Vanilla, Glenn since Warcraft 2. Jake is relatively new, yes, and definitely has a different style and did do the majority of Dragonflight music, not sure why they are having him do so much considering he's so new. Also Neal Acree didn't compose for DF for some reason, which is a big loss.
Dragonflight has WoW's worst soundtrack to date. In Valdrakken, I don't know if I'm playing Everquest II or getting ready to watch an episode of "The Orville".
The soundtrack is great, although the style has shifted slightly ever since Russel Brower left. Modern expansions sort of blend the earliest days of Warcraft with something new, more "mature" and toned down, whereas I guess you could say they lack a particular sound from back in about 2007 - 2016 or so. It's not really better or worse, it just comes down to personal preference. I personally love Glenn Stafford's work (and the rest of the team), but I also sometimes miss Russel.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. So far the only track I actually like is "Emberflow". For all of Shadowlands' flaws, most of its tracks were 5/5. Thankfully, this 10.0.7 preview adds a bit more menace to the primalist themes. Its current iteration kind of lacks that threatening feel... Altho, of course, if you wipe enough times to Rasz, it's enough to give you a bit of PTSD lol
Interesting. My biggest disappointment was the Shadowlands soundtrack (except the Exile's reach music). Regarding DF, I LOVE the "Maruukai" theme, as well as "Brackenhide" and "Take to the Skies".
@@Valkyreon Yeah it's cool to see everyone's different music tastes! I too like those Dragonflight tracks, but for Shadowlands, I think the music was easily the best part. My favorites from Shadowlands are Bolvar themes, Zovaal themes, Maldraxxus themes, and all of 9.2.
