I know right. I’ve always had success on mercari…I preach it but people always push back saying it sucks lol. Idk…doesn’t for me. Glad you’re crushing on there too! 👊
This was the best introduction video to Mercari. Straight to the point! I feel so confident going in there now. Thank you so much for this video mane, new subscriber!
Mercari is dead to me. I used to sell a lot on Mercari and these days I get one or 2 sales a month. So I just let my items sit. MERC needs to do more with tools for sellers like other sites do. For ex. there are sites that will let you "bump" up your listings, or "update" that bumps it up. With Mercari I have delete listing and relist listing to get it to move up. They don't have a way to sell multiples. No way to "copy" or duplicate a listing. Other sites are moving way ahead of Mercari.
I just put I have multiple items in the description. I just sold something listed as one but was asked to make a listing for six. I don't sell a lot so that may not be doable on a large scale as some people sell.
Before Covid I had great sales with the platform, but people list things way too low (ex. massive clothing lots for $4). After fees the platform isn't worth using because you are competing with that. In addition, items just don't get the views they used to. I've had better success with Etsy since I mostly deal in Mid-Century.
Pricing things high doesn’t work for me because Ive had my listings there forever because my items are to high. Once I lower and do offers then they will purchase.
the free shipping isn't a good idea, unless a person selects the filter "free shipping" Mercari doesn't show the items that offer free ship while searching for something. SO it makes it look like the item is more expensive.
Yeah but when buyers see the item details the free shipping label pops up and I myself always lean towards buying items with free shipping even if the final price is the same.
yep, agreed. Also I have never noticed a difference in sell through rate, AAAAND if they are on the west coast, I end up making next to nothing. Not worth the risk
@@FloridaNative59No actually you guys are just slow 😂 it’s the same profit if you price it higher. It is literally just a psychological tactic to get people to buy because they see the word FREE. Not rocket science. You don’t need to filter a search. EVERYONE looks at the details before they buy.
They have terrible customer service, if they limit your account for whatever reasons it will be really hard to get them to respond, or to get your money. I read online blogs they held some peoples money for over 6 months! Move your funds as soon as they are available.
I am experiencing this right now!! So frustrating. I started cross posting to Mercari & Poshmark after years of selling on eBay. Zero problem moving hundreds of items to Poshmark. Mercari limited my account when I had 22 items listed meanwhile I made a sale. I shipped that off, they got it, I chose to deposit directly into my bank account. This all started 9/15 with the sale being 9/18. I opened a ticket, and since then was told it went to escalations then to billing and still no answers. I said I’m new to the platform can you at least tell me why you shut me down I’m don’t know if I violated some policy or someone hacked my account. NOTHING. Yesterday I got a notice that they cancelled my direct deposit, charged me $2 processing fee and still ZERO explanation for any of it. After I get my money I’m shutting Mercari down. Bunch of bull.
I’ve been selling on Mercari 8 months now and I average $1500-$2000 a month. A lot of it has been trial and error, but my most effective strategy is to price high and then discount bit by bit. I haven’t offered free shipping yet, but I’m willing to test it for a few products. Hoping to get another 1k a month at least on Mercari and supplement with other platforms.
Love it sounds like you're on your way to scaling! What type of products are you selling? A bunch of different things or do you focus on one specific niche?
Great info. I sell better on mercari than I do on marketplace. The traffic is better it shows when your item has been viewed, which doesn't take long after you post. I'm making about $25 to $30 a month. Something is better than nothing.
So now have have switched it up again on free shipping, interesting. When I check solds in any category on the site the vast majority of the solds are not free shipping.
I just realized today they have a cross post feature. I don't know if it's new or I have missed it somehow. It's for eBay, Poshmark, Depop, and I can't remember any others. I was trying to decide if I should list something that sells on eBay for more, but with a ton of competition, or put it on Mercari with less audience and possibly less profit. I've never used any other platforms before except for buying. Maybe I will do both now. I need to look into this feature more.
i’ve been listing a bunch of hello kitty items on mercari that a lot of people seem to like however my posts aren’t even getting any views. and i don’t know why. i’m even promoting almost all the time. yet no one seems to even be interested in it. i’ve listed like 20 items and no one has bought any of it. also i’m new to mercari so i don’t even have any ratings
Something isn't right, I keep relisting and dropping the price, but nothing is selling. I dropped a price from $1k to $100 just see if it was because of the price and I guess not. App is too inconsistent
The 3 examples I gave in this vid are a good place to start. Then start testing a bunch of different things...and double down on what you start to see success with.
For me nothing is selling. Bras used to be a good sell. Housewares too, but not anymore. It's like Mercari is out of business or on a LONGGGG vacation IMO.
To really make your sales grow. Don't be a niche seller. Train yourself to search for a variety of items. Over time you will develope a since of what sells. When sourcing for items, search when the last time it sold and how much. Anything that hasn't sold within a month I usually leave. You don't want a large inventory of slow movers. Also when purchasing make sure you are at least getting over 100 rate of return from your sales. That will assure that you have a high profit margin.
Thank you for help. I do well with customer service/communication. But I need to work on my pricing though. Question is Lego figures hot in Mercari market?
Hey Bryan. I got my first 1 star rating on Mercari. The buyer says they found it cheaper on Amazon. I would like to try to get it removed. My only other concern is the sold listing only shows stock photos, and the buyer also states I copied the photos from Amazon. Most of my listings include other photos besides just stock photos, but I have some listings with only stock photos. Anyway, I do have other photos for this item. I use Mercari mainly on my laptop, and Mercari is glitchy. Sometimes, it changes my titles, changes my category and even deletes my description. I guess it also deletes photos. Do you think it is okay to write Mercari about removing the rating when the buyer says I copied Amazon’s photos and only stock images are showing on the sold listing? I thought I could ask Mercari to remove it since the buyer is directing buyers to shop on Amazon instead of Mercari, and I could also tell Mercari about the glitches and missing photos. I am the kind of person who prefers these ratings to be removed, but I don’t want to lose my account because the sold listing is only showing stock images. This is a private label type item with no brand name on the item, and I did create my own description. I appreciate any advice. Hope you are having a good week so far.
I would just block the buyer. Leave it and continue to sell. It’ll be buried in 4 more reviews when it moves down your reviews and people don’t typically click to page 2
If I read that reason for a rating, it wouldn't deter me from buying. It would make me think that the buyer was leaving a rating that made him look dumb for not checking prices before buying a product 😅
