I know you filmed this 3 years ago but I love how you go through every bit of putting the roller in and showing each and every finger placement as well as how to wrap the hair and using the tail comb to scoop the hair underneath. I haven’t found any other video like this yet. Thank you for making this video.

Thanks for the tutorial. I bought these kinds of rollers when I was a teenager. Well that was a very long time ago. I could never get them to work for me, no matter what the advertising said. I'm sitting here now with a twisty roller set in. It's only taken 40 years, I'm finally getting it. I'm looking forward to seeing the brush out tomorrow.
    Thank you.

Welcome back, Lovely!! Soooo many good things to say about this video. I really appreciate the length/thoroughness you've kept to your video, despite those negative comments ("If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all," as Thumper would say). The detail helps me out so much, especially since I'm from the U.S. and can't easily go to your workshops. I watched the whole video this time around, but it's great that you gave the breakdown in the description box so I can jump around to the parts I need when I put my hair in a set.

I could not sleep in flexi rods. Your head has to be made out of steel to sleep in them😂 But what I could do, is set my hair in flexi rods at night and let them set awhile, for my hair easily curls, and then set them in bobby pins before I go to bed. Good for people who can't sleep in them anyway. I've seen vids where they had done that and the hair came out bomb.

I do find these rollers the best! I find them okay to sleep in with a scarf :). I need about 50 of them to get all my hair!
Sponge rollers took some evenings 2hrs to do with 40-50 rollers and they lasted a day 😧😧 and took about 45mins to brush so not been doing sets at all recently. May be worth another go with these again, it takes less time to do probably because I can get wider sections and definitely reduces frizz!! The joys of ridiculously thick hair!!

I get the professional concentrated formula, mix it with water and put it in a spray bottle. I have one of setting spray and one of water. Dampen hair with water, mist a little setting spray on the strand I'm using, roll. And once I've done my whole head I do another round of setting spray and dry.

Have you tried rockin rollers? They are quite like these but then soft. Much easier to sleep with! They come in a set of 12 and according to the manual you should use just all 12 and it works surprisingly well for such a little amount of rollers! I usually take a few extra sponge rollers for the front section but it saves a lot of time! Usually get quite a nice outcome :)

You should get a hood dryer and just sit under in with the curlers in for half n hour or so until it dries n then you dont have to sleep in them! you could do them in the morning!
You should also get a silk or satin bonnet to sleep in the keep the curl and prevent frizz
EDIT o ok just saw you used a scarf !! a really pretty scarf! A satin bonnet would still keep your curls safe while sleeping without the rollers in !

Miss Victory Violet I have a few questions! I know that you might not have the time to answer all of them so that’s okay. But here goes:
    1. I have the straightest finest hair imaginable. How can I keep the curl in my hair? I’ve tried so many products and I feel like nothing works.
    2. How long does one wet set last you? I’ve heard they should last two days minimum but mine barely lay a day.
    3. How often do you wash your hair and how often do you recommend?
    4. What shampoo and conditioner do you recommend for vintage hair?

    • @MissVictoryViolet
      @MissVictoryViolet  5 лет назад +3

      1. You just have to keep trying different techniques. And the reality is, some hair types will drop not matter what during the day, but you can definitely help by trialing methods and maybe starting it with more water
      2. I only ever make it last a day. I don't sleep on the brushout, I will always brush my hair through at night and if I want curl again the next day, I will do a quick reset
      3. I wash it about once a week. This definitely saves time
      4. Everyone's hair is different, my faves are Maria Nila, Davines and Keune. If you struggle with the hair holding curls, then avoid ones that are too heavy
