    One of these just came up for auction on a site I use, I’d never heard of it but was immediately reminded of a product my friend Euan designed when we were at the Glasgow School of Art in 2000. It’s shockingly similar! He designed it for Sony and it was a cylindrical brushed metal wand, that had an end press-able button as it’s main function switch, a twistable segmented body for volume and various functions, and lcd panel displays built directly into the wand. It was actually a more elegant solution that this beotime with its stuck on screens, but conceptually identical! It controlled all connected media, and Euan has also preempted the ‘connected’ household by blueprinting how the wand would/could be used to control lighting, air conditioning etc. And yes, it was also an alarm clock! Euan’s design preceded this by almost a decade, and at the GSA we had links with B&O so it’s quite a shock to see the beotime. I hope he registered his design - or perhaps took it further and it ended up with B&O! Will do some digging certainly.

I've owned one for a little while it turns on my beovision 6-26 in the morning on volume 20 not loud enough to alarm your senses but it wakes me to every single day and it's the last button I press at night to switch the tv off love the fact that I don't have to scramble around for the remote, never knew about the serect menu so thank you very much Steve, Brilliant information mate 👌👍

    Wow. Thanks for another great video. I've had a Beotime for about 3 years now and it's just sat unused as a beautiful display piece/clock and nothing else, which is a shame really. It is a pain to use as a normal remote but the new light feature you have shown as suddenly sparked my interest in it again. I have an LC2 and I can see the new feature being used as a good security feature for when I'm away from home for the evening. The sunrise feature is especially nice too. I guess up to now my Beotime is probably the one of the my most admired but underused pieces, but that may well change now. Thanks again.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  3 месяца назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video. There should be a rectangular piece of black plastic on the back of the stand that unclips and this has two prongs that fit into the holes on the cover at the end of the tube to unscrew the cover. Please remove the magnetic stand from the Beotime to remove the batteries, otherwise the magnet will hold the batteries in place

    Unfortunately I have a BeoVision 11 in the bedroom so don’t know how to wake up this product and the alarm is to gentle so only gets used as a display piece but still love it and will never part with but will definitely have to look into a lighting source for the sunrise function. Thank you for the great review and now a new option and I never knew that’s how you opened up the battery compartment, always just pressed my thumb against and turned, always thought it was an annoying piece of plastic that never sat quite right.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  4 года назад +1

      Beotime should be able to wake up your Beovision 11 via any of the video commands in the alarm list - you can set Beotime to turn on the TV, internet radio or a DVD/blu-ray disc to wake you up if you wish!

    • @4DR14NCR41G
      @4DR14NCR41G 4 года назад +1

      Thank you Steve, I’ll look into this further but only have it connected via wi-fi, sky and AppleTV no aerial so always figured that it would just turn on the television and not play. Have got really excited since watching this video and purchased a Lutron Rania B&O IR Dimmer for the sunrise function to help with those 05:30 calls especially in the winter. It says on the packaging for Beo 4/5 but no mention of the BeoRemote One, don’t suppose you know if it’s compatible with this remote? Thank you for the great content, really enjoying the influx of great content and the education I’m receiving even on product I thought I knew well

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  4 года назад +1

      @@4DR14NCR41G Thanks! The B&O version of Lutron Rania will work with BeoRemote One - but you do need to put the remote into IR mode instead of bluetooth mode. The Rania does need to have at least one incandescent bulb fitted (to give it a minimum load of 50 watts or more) so that it can function. You can then add dimmable LED bulbs as well if you wish, as long as one normal bulb is fitted.

    • @4DR14NCR41G
      @4DR14NCR41G 4 года назад +1

      Purchased the last BV11 2016 which came with the old three button presets and not the four so believe it’s IR only and no Bluetooth and only use old halogen GU10 recessed spotlights due to preferring their warmth over the LEDS which I believe are incandescents? Brought so many of these once I found them hard to get hold of that my great grandchildren will be inheriting them

    I don’t know how to link it to my Beosound equipment anymore.
    Lost the manual after several movings to another place.
    An other ( odd) question I have for you;
    I have 4 Beolab 3 speakers( the Qubes, dice) and the outside grey plastic where the 3 speakers are situated in, has deteriorated in a sticky surface that keeps dust and dirt;
    How can clean them and get them in a normal state back?
    Put varnish over the plastic; after cleaned?
    Would love to hear your solution for this problem; they are about 20 years old , but very good sound quality.

    I have one of these also, bought it in Kansas City when it came out. I wanted an easy way to use my audio system as an alarm, and this was a cheap alternative to using my Beolink 5000 remote. Unfortunately the Beotime quit working after a year or so. Dissapointing!
