To be fair to the TDF, that's a 100 dollar Blue Yeti mic. No where near the kind of quality and crispness worthy to be played through the Beolabs. Also, if anyone's in the market for a good microphone remember that USB mics are complete garbage, you'll need XLR. Sorry about the rant.
Blue pro is an XLR, they really should have got one of those for about £180? I think or a rode NT1. Also they could have used the DB compressor on the back of the microphone to stop the peaking and then leave it there to get a similar result. It would mean the overall DB level was lower however the recording would have been able to pick up the full range. But was still a fun little test!
@@SrAlexGaming The max sound pressure level of a blue yeti is 120dB. They needed to use something like a dynamic mic (Shure sm58) with an SPL of ~180dB. You don't really use condenser mics for high volume recording because it breaks their diaphragm.
B&O just wanted publicity. For a serious test they would have had a proper mic and dB meter. This is the homemade test with very expensive equipment to start with.
All you need is to set gain down to the lowest so it doesn't distort, but i haven't watched what he recorded yet. Edit: they fucked this test up. They should have used a stage microphone not a studio one, and they should have set the gain low so it doesn't distort
The place is quite literally amazing! The combination of 1. Supercars 2. Super ”B&O” sound 3. Super ”TO” lounge 4. Coffee & Watches 5. Amazing people 6. Superstar James! Congratulations on everything my man!! So happy for you 👏👏👏👏👏
Interesting twist . Fab video. Many 'car guys have an interest in high end hi fi and B&O have been a premium brand for many years. Not many car RUclipsrs have realised that . I wouldn't say that B&O is a premium hi-fi brand, as their products always have more of an emphasis on form rather than function. Their products - phones,TVs and speakers - are well made, works of technology art rather than product to get audiophiles salivating, that's why they are sold by John Lewis and Selfridges. That is unlike the products of quality British brands such as KEF, B&W, Linn, Rega, Spendor, Monitor Audio, and Quad. Or if you want to combine style with high sound quality then Sheffield's own Wilson Benesch products - built by people with hard vowels! - are internationally renown and use hi-tech carbon fibre too...
Congrats James - It was fun watching it all come together (think you may have even surprised yourself at how well it turned out), looking forward to the opening video.
F40, F50, all the Zagatos! You've got some seriously awesome metal in there .. and you haven't even officially opened yet! Well done! NICE! Really looking forward to watch this grow!
@@215nerf none of it is relevant. It was just supposed to be a fun was to show off the B&O speakers and integrate a car into it. None of it matters. None of it is scientific.
I'm a bit old school James, I am used to the speaker just having the speaker inside and not the entire amp/preamp setup as well. Those speakers did sound incredible accurate though which is what you want to hear from a quality set of speakers. Looking forward to the opening event.
To see how much you've invested in this project is truly inspiring. Then you compare it to Yianni sat in his shed workshop buying two new Aventadors "because he can"....
NVN London is such an incredible project! Only now I realized how big of a deal it is! Massive congrats on NVN, and all the best for the young MRJWW💪🏻😜
Probably why Topaz detailing a few doors away are upping their social media game now by collaborating with Yianniamize on their new Topaz Skin product...they see NVN as legit competition.
Loving the establishment. Not a fan of B&O, a set of B&W’s with proper amp would be a much better (also more british) choice. But dear god, selling those speakers to a customer and then showing up with a blue yeti to record a TDF?!
I adore my Beolab 90's. All my friends assume all that power means i play them loud all the time, but that's furthest from reality. yes, they can get stupid loud. But that power is used best for controlling the cone excursions precisely at all times without distortion. I suppose much like a Ferrari F12, there is pleasure to be derived with more power.
I'm an acoustic engineer and would be happy to come over and redo this test with calibrated sound level meters that can handle a much higher sound pressure levels.
Well this was the vid that finally convinced me to subscribe, anything with cars and speakers is a full on win for me, especially b&o. Hopefully one day I can afford something, anything from b&o, I've been a fan since I was 10. Good job on the space, the cars and all your vids, dunno why I took so long to come around but I'm looking forward to seeing more, thanks!
You didn’t explain that decibels increase logarithmically, therefore the B&O speakers are way above the TDF sound. Have a great opening day James, so excited for you and the NVN Team. 👍👍😄
Okay, so I'm an audio person here.... the sound was still clipping at 4:23 -- what you need to do is turn the gain on the Blue yeti WAYYY down, until you're not having blue stuff going to the edges. Then, the recording will play back far more clearly, and you'll get a better comparison.
That place is unreal James and is so true to the things you’re clearly passionate about, hopefully one day I’ll have a special enough car to bring to NVN for a detail!
TDF its the best Ferrari in the last 20 years that Ferrari had made. Of course its my personal choice. But man... that V12 reving at 8500 rpm.... it brings the joy.
Love me some B&O. Canny quite afford the Hi-fi but I am trying to get myself some H9i headphones. Also I have to say, damn fine tail end on that TDF.. My god what a noise.👌
I do feel, from vids, that NVN has a few too many gimics over say Topaz. Just my thoughts. Topaz is purer. Focus is cars. But of course NVN probably has a different focus. Cheers for video.
The SPL, or max noise level, of that USB microphone is subpar to that of an XLR microphone. Something such as a drumming microphone can capture much more bass and most likely be able to handle more noise with a pad.
I see DD Classics have brought down some amazing cars. Their stock is the best in the UK. Another television quality production James, keep up the good work gent.
The 90 can play 127 db. They can play loud as F. I watched the Ready Player One and turned up to volume 85 with the race sceene on the bridge. Your adrenalin starts flowing and there was sweat on my forehead after the scene.
Just rewatching this video for the 1000th time just to listen to that Ferrari V12. Do you still own it James? Easily my favourite sounding car, period.

You are 100% right, but this was just for fun 😄
What about the elephant in the room? Using an iPad Pro as a decibel-O-Meter?
Im guessing that decibel meter app cant measure more than 121 db
Correct.
I'm afraid so. The guy from BO should have thought about that, I think.
B&O just wanted publicity. For a serious test they would have had a proper mic and dB meter. This is the homemade test with very expensive equipment to start with.
Idiots

What you’ve done with the space is absolutely amazing, congratulations. It’s NEXT LEVEL 😂
BeoLab 90, which costs an eye-watering $84,990 for a pair
You get what you pay for... and those cars cost how much?
Yeah, then nothing else sounds good, no thanks.
Yup. I'll stick to my Sonos speakers... lol

When I win the lottery I will definitely bring my Chiron here for PPF ❤️
Haha, I read that as if you already have a Chiron, but need to win the lottery to have enough money to PPF it. Lol!

Is it?! Gosh
Imagine Thunderstruck blasting from those Beolab 90's!!! JEEEZ!

It is so lovely to see what B&O are getting up to! I just love the quality and longevity of the equipment! Your place looks stunning Mr.JWW!!
Pure class without any snobbery!! James, you have nailed it my friend. Kudos.

Hi James that was an interesting experiment -wow love the B. And O. speakers-your showroom looks amazing!
@MrJWW 1db louder is quite a lot though about 26% louder. so the speakers are about 1/4 louder than the TDF
NVN is looking amazing. Great job and you have some stunning cars in there
Should have done it with a Lambo V12. I Have a B+O stereo tower sound system its great and loud. Its about 15 years old but i live it.
Excellent consumer advice there 😂😂 Those speakers are just awesome. But the whip cracks of the TDF, OMG 😱😍😍
amazing job and I'm so excited for what's next! looking forward to it. cheers!
