That black model does look better than I thought it would. Very classy. However, There's something cool, calming and slick about the blue one so I bought it. It's a vibe for sure. I feel like they did such a good job with the colors they wrapped the S9 in that each one seems like it gives each camera a different 'personality'.
Hi mate thanks for your support. Sadly you can’t do that. I have not seen any type of adapter that allows you to use lenses from M43 or L mount on either body.

I am going to Japan again very soon and have been thinking if I should bring my a7cr, Leica Q or one of my m43 but Ive decided to bring just my s9 because it's just such a great travel camera for both photo and video ❤

Having 2 identical camera bodies is a wonderful decision. I did the same with 2 A7C ii's and it's been amazing (needed EVF). I have them set up exactly the same so I can grab either one and just go. Not having to change lenses is a game changer when traveling - makes it so much more enjoyable. I'm guessing FX30 got sold. Have fun on your trip!
very happy with my S9. I think it is a winner. Funny story. My sis has a ZVE1. She does photo-video at semi professional level and wanted sth. to complement her A1. It was summer, in a house at 26 deg (normal for Europe in summer). I put both cams next to each other as I was going through the (horrible) sony menus, to adjust things the way she wanted, while I was setting up the S9 in parallel. After 10 mins, the ZVE1 gave a temp. warning. My sis told me it was common, and that her A1 would shut off at shootings. Not sure if Spain is such a hot country for this to be acceptable, but the S9 did not complain once. I also had the G9ii with long lenses and no warnings either, even hiking at 35 deg. I have the feeling YT influencers brush over this, after testing on 21deg aircon cooled rooms.
I've got an S9 and love to take it (with the 20-60mm lens) on hikes. It's smaller and lighter, but still has awesome quality. I came from M43 and since the Panasonic G100 is so cheap I also have one of those. I find those two cameras interesting to compare since they are kind of aimed at similar audiences. The G100 lacks IBIS, but does have a viewfinder. That's the one feature I would have liked on the S9. The G100 also has a Self Mode, so you get a three second delay when you do a selfie. I don't know why that's not on the S9. I hope Panasonic includes that in a firmware update for the S9.
@@walrusgumboot So does mine, but the G100 has (under Lens / Others / Self Shot) a mode where if the screen is flipped out facing you, then it assumes a selfie and a 3 second delay. It's more convenient.
I'm currently on holiday by the sea. I have my G9II and a second-hand GX9 with me. The G9II pretty much always stays at home in the holiday flat. The GX9 is simply more fun. Also because it's smaller and lighter. But I couldn't do without a viewfinder. It's often so bright that I can't see anything on the display.
After checking out those smaller sigma lenses and playing with this camera for like an hour and a camera store it really is calling my name… Probably still gonna be a while for me, but looks like a great camera overall especially the case as you were talking about!
Thanks mate! Your video with the Sigma lenses was great. Well done on a killer vide. After using the blue one overseas in June, it shocked me how much I loved using it once I got past the lack of controls.
Congrats on your new purchase. The black version looks slick. I am on m43 system, so all my glass pieces are for this system. I won't jump to FF as the lenses are most of the time smaller for m43.
I'm wondering if the recording limitations will eventually burn you or not. For me, if I came across a live band playing and my camera shut off in the middle of a song,...that would anger me. Or if I was recording a street performance or stage show or fireworks,...I'd hate to have to worry about my camera cutting off. No way,...I'll stay with my S5-IIX and GH7

Still, S9 Black with 12-60 for $1650 US with small rig included. So tempting! That said, I can pick up the s5ii, the 12-60 AND the 50mm 1.8 and some accessories for $2150 US. Slightly Different use I know, but amazing kit and great value! Now if Panasonic would make a ‘S9’ style version of the g9 ii that would be very cool! Fun to watch you enjoy the new purchase!
In Asia they actually have a black models with a silver top, which looks the best by far. But since we don't have these in Europe, the all-black is my second favourite.
Oh buddy! I don't see a single Sony box behind you. Is Shane all in on Panasonic? Let's be real, a proper setup with multiple sensor sizes, m43 and FF compliment each other perfectly! S1H II coming this fall though. Also just imagine if they released a 25MP GM1 with proper IBIS and PDAF? Also what do you think DJI is going to release? I think they're going FF and m43 as well, just a guess 🤘
I'll be putting together an update about why I got rid of of what I did and where my head is at with Sony gear. I wouldn't be surprised if they release an S1H II at some point coming up, I am sure it'll be killer.

Bizarre that it doesn’t even come with a usb-c cable. I’ve seen them at Jb for $2500 for body and 20-60 which is much better value than the same price for body only at launch. Cool to see it uses the same battery as the S5ii which I got recently. Shame they still haven’t brought out the 18-40 collapsible kit lens
This is the quintessential "I wish" camera. It's so cool looking but lacks too many (IMO) basic features for the price. I would pay 1000 euros for it though and pair it with a small f/1.8 lens (when they have one).
They had this for $500 locally here off which made it a lot more appealing. With the SmallRig grip, the camera feels great with the 20-60mm lens. There is a new small zoom on the way at some point.
Nope, in my opinion the S9 doesn't match my GX9 as a travel camera. That massive lens you held up, errk. For those of us who do not go weak at the knees for FF, there are better options on the market for the price of the S9.

I have a number of S5II cameras at the house so it's not a problem for longer form recording. I wanted these exclusively for travel purposes.

I show the battery in the unboxing section. It uses the same battery as the S5II, GH6, G9II etc.
