    Always liked Norm's use of black yard cinder and grass around his rails vs conventional ballast. It's especially evident in his closeup shots here. Years ago I purchased a 3 gal pail of Brennon's medium ballast but never applied it since I had to change or debug track problems . Now, perhaps I will use cinders in many places, inspired by Norm's magic. Gary

    Although I haven't had a model railroad in over twenty years, I still enjoy watching your videos, Norm. Especially your workbench segments, such as here. I watched with great interest your weathering techniques. I don't think you overdid the oil stain seeps, at least from my side of the camera. I didn't see any over-done effects, for that matter, but a nice even and subtle suggestion of weather. Love your route and always enjoy studying the many details.

    Norm I just finished rewatching the other 15 of these in the series, and I refreshed RUclips and there was Episode 16 freshly posted. What are the odds! Great video as always.

    Very nice work here man! The scene at the end, in the engine facility, is just SICK! Too much realism to be a model railroad. I'm finishing up a Lionel SW900. I'm not as advanced as you are with 3D printing the coupler gap, so I just used styrene. Thanks for showing some of your weathering application. Maybe next time you could demonstrate how you apply the grime.

    Nice build Norm!! I had my first ride
    on a SW7 New York Central switcher
    in 1969 when I was 4 years old,
    Don Staley the Conductor was friends
    with my Grandfather, it was on the Dow line here in Anderson Indiana!!
    Do I see some switching videos
    coming??

    Hey man, just want to say keep up the great work. Big inspiration for me and my modeling of Uk oo gauge, so just goes to show your tips work on a lot of levels. If you could do a showcase/review type thing on that mint S2 class as that looked incredible.

    Yo yard looks so realistic. I hope one day to get mine's looking close to that. But then again you have more room than me to play with

    'Love my smoke Norm, however I have to agree with you;- the fluid seems to snot from every crevice of these expensive man-toys.

      Thanks! I don’t really take on work for others. Occasionally I’ll fix or weather something for a pal but it always takes me a long time to get to it.

    Do you have a video of what your standards are for seting up your freight cars. Trucks, couplers and so on?

    • @normstrains
      @normstrains  7 месяцев назад

      Haven’t really done a freight car yet. The 3rd Rail head end cars I did would be the closest I think 🤔

      @@normstrains It would be very interesting to see what your standards are for freight cars. Couplers, Do you stick with the stock trucks or change them out. Your operational standards. Your paint standards I understand. Your freight car operational and detail standards would make for an interesting and informative video.
