I think the Dolph vs Dean match came down to 'Don't do too much to overshadow the Universal title match'. Or 'We're debuting the new title, so tone your match down so this one will be the focus'.
Chiko was here I kind of think that too... there are some matches that can be great but arent and you know the wrestler can be awesome but stupid wwe is like "no only the guys we want xan be food so tone it down... thats f*cking STUPID!!" have all matches be AMAZING!!!! HACE THE TONE OF THE SHOWS BE ALL UP NOT SOME UP AND SONE DOWN!!
If they were told to tone down their match so as not to overshadow the debut of the belt, then why didn't Cena and AJ Styles get that memo? Also, if they were that concerned about the belt reveal, why did they book the sideshow suplex freak vs the meme guy as the main attraction?
With the quality of actual wrestlers who been doing this longer then Romans NFL career coming in. Being top guy comes with some sort of ring commandment not just muscles.
Mid 2014, just after the Shield split, he was great. When he would just launch himself at Seth Rollins whenever he could and pummel the crap out of him, and his lunatic persona was energetic and exciting. Then he became Bugs Bunny at some point, and it was all downhill from there.
He just wrestles so slowly and boring. I feel he is just a terrible fit for the WWE. That's what happens though when you take what is effectively a deathmatch wrestler and stick him in a PG enviroment. I mean imagine Terry Funk or Mick Foley if they came through the WWE now. They would be awful.
Delete or Decay is totally worth looking up. I don't know a whole lot about TNA, but the team they were fighting during that were pretty crazy. The interactions with Broken Matt and Obsolete Jeff are just golden. Especially a certain...resurrection
I agree. I don't agree with tag team special being on the list. Because wwe teams weren't there, it's bad? How is that tnas fault? It's wwe fault, wwe had a chance for greatness but nope
The list was of disappointing matches, and Tag Team Apocalypto definitely disappointed. Matt Hardy hyped the crap out of itwith his open invitation angle, and hardly anybody showed up.
The TNA match you were thinking of was Lethal Lockdown. Which is basically a mix of hell in a cell, elimination chamber and a survivor series elimination tag match. With weapons hung from the roof of the cell. I remember only one of them ever being any good.
The comment about Naked Rock got me through the rest of my shift at work. I was falling asleep at my desk. My partner was wondering why I was laughing so hard.
Everytime I rewatch the 2016 Royal Rumble it becomes more relevant. It starts with Roman and Rusev (who feuded for the U.S Title recently), then AJ comes out and fights Roman (arguably Roman's best matches later on were with AJ), then Jericho comes out (AJ's first feud), AJ gets eliminated by Kevin Owens (both of those 2 are currently the top champions of their brands), Sami Zayn eliminates Kevin Owens (arguably had feud/match of the year later), and finally Sami is eliminated by Braun Strowman (currently feuding).
Uhm... For me AJ vs. Jericho at Wrestlemania was worse than most of the others. Jericho still had ring rust, the match wasn't telling ANY interesting story, there were no stakes for a Wrestlemania match (!) and did anyone want to see AJ vs Jericho at this point? It was just a total waste of talent and did nothing for both of them. Everything both of them did afterwards was sooo much better.
I certainly wanted to see AJ vs Jericho!...I agree though, it wasn't that great and Jericho was rusty. His conditioning has improved so much though. He deserves a lot of credit for getting in to shape like that, because he really didn't need to.
*_I thought I wouldn't get the chance to get on before after Christmas. So Merry Christmas to y'all, friendos, and Steve & Larson! Hope you all have a wonderful day._* 🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁
And the Dean/Dolph match came into the point in a long ppv where I'm tired and hate everything because of it. I went back and watched the match and it's fine. The only thing that I hate is the abrupt finish. Dolph loses to one finisher, then is dropped back down to the midcard for months like he didn't care about the Wwe title
I was at wrestlenania 32. amazing show. But, they actually popped multiple times in the Roman triple h match. every time triple h in the first 5 min threw A punch or anything else, he got a giant pop. Roman got booed so loudly that I believe his mom had to leave because she felt so bad. the boos were so loud that ...u thought he murdered a orphanage. like he was just murdered in hate
Saying the Asylum match had to go longer. I vaguely remember them advertising a Randy Orton match that never happened on one PPV this year. Was it that?
The TNA Match you might be thinking of was Raven's House of Fun Match. They stuck half a cage up and hung weapons from it. It, much like the Asylum match something that just didn't seem all that necessary.
The TNA "Variant" of the Asylum Match is Lethal Lockdown. More like Hell in a Cell meets War Games. Cage match with War Game entrants, when all participants are in, cage roof lowers with weapons.
HHH wasn't a surprise. Even I knew Triple H was going to win that Royal Rumble, and this was at a time when I hadn't watched wrestling since the previous Survivor Series!
As soon as the rock opened his mouth the wyatts should of beaten the shit out of the rock. It made no sense to stand there and take it. Then when Cena came down they should of took him out as well.
My defense for the lack of surprise entrants in the 2016 Royal Rumble match is that it was for the title so they didn't wanna have anyone in the match with 0% chance of winning the title
I reckon that parts of the Shinsuke vs Joe cage match were cut down because the crowd was raucous and chanting in ways they didn't like. All the disrespectful stuff happened before the match, but it's still the only thing that really makes sense. Especially with how much room NXT has given some recent matches with less stature.
Yes, Jericho mentioned they had to stretch the asylum match a lot. So I wouldn't blame Jericho or Ambrose for this. Shit happens and it wasn't that important anyway.
I disagree. Simply because of how Brock is in 2016. In my opinion, he hasn't had a good/interesting match since he beat the streak. And on top of that, 2016 weapons are so watered down.
He turned into the dumb suplex guy around the summerslam match with Cena. Then that got into full force after WM 31 with his 'suplex city' gimmick. I just am hoping on Angles return he can fight Lesner and bring a decent match out of him again. i believe they are tied up at 2-2 overall.
That whole Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor situation could of be all avoid if they weren't fucking lazy in the belt design and we know they can still make a good belt design look at the Cruiserweight and UK titles.
I disagree with #2. I think it was a real well booked match from beginning to end. Compared to last year Royal Rumble and even the year before that, which both felt like a slog, this year's match had a lot of great moments that granted WWE did not capitalise on. I get what you mean by surprise entrants but I would rather have a well booked 1 hour match than a whole bunch of surprise entrants who we know are not going to win anyway. Great list as always anyway.
I actually enjoyed the rumble this year. AJ's debut, all the possible storyline possibilities at the time I thought made it a solid match. Definitely better than the past two.
Abhishek Mondal Exactly. Dean was coming across as kind of a dick in that match the way he was no selling Zigglers offense. As a matter of fact, he is like that every time these two face off.
Why don't you wait until 2017 to do these "counts", as something could happen this week that should make a list? Is there really some kind of rush that it has to be done before the year is over?
Sorry Steve and Larson huge fan but I have a major gripe with one point in this video. If you aren't a huge dirt shirt reader HHH #30 would have been a huge surprise plus AJ Styles which fans thought might happen but nobody honestly saw coming. The rumble match is the match I look forward to every year and I thought last years was better than it has been in a while. Also don't get your hopes up for any surprises this year with how stacked the roster is right now there are AT LEAST 30 guys that deserve to be in the rumble this coming year.
What do you guys think about Shinsuke Nakamora dropping the belt to Bobby Roode at takeover San Antonio then making his main roster debut at the royal rumble?
marc2251 nah not yet. Samoa Joe is almost certainly debuting in the rumble and they're not gonna throw both of them in there to take away from his moment. Plus it's too close to mania and they'd have to find a feud for him or something for him to do to make sure he's wrestling at wrestlemania so it would be the worst time for him to debut. I think it'll happen at some point early on in the summer imo
I get being upset with the crowd crapping on the belt the whole time. However, wrestling fans are trained and told the Championship matters and by extention the belt matters. Heck Stone Cold regularly said if you aren't in it for one of those belts you shouldn't be in Wrestling. The belt does freaking matter and the biggest thing to me about the belts isn't so much that they are bad, it's that in an Era we are supposed to buy in to Raw and Smackdown being different unique brands debuting a copy cat belt takes fans out of suspending our disbelief.
For that Ambrose Lesnar match, it would have been fucking hilarious if backstage Ambrose has in an interview with the chainsaw, revving that thing up and saying he had been playing with it all day and that he is gonna fuck up Brock Lesnar. Then he comes out first and when Brock gets to the outside of the ring, Ambrose goes to turn on the chainsaw, and it doesn't turn on cuz it's out of gas, and he has this oh shit face and Brock laughs.
the belt was booed for being mindless boring and lazy in design by looking exactly the same as the other but in red... now people understand that WWE didn't want to put 1 title over the other by way of design and it's okay but expectation were at a high and hopes were that it would not look exactly the same because of the hype going into it... the new UK tournament title is more along the lines of what was expected
+Pat Galaxy we all can agree that the belt looks really bad/ was disappointing but the crowd ruined the entire match because of the freakin belt and that is disrespectful for the wrestlers, especially guys like Seth and Finn who work their asses of :/
They didn't say he was in a Royal Rumble recently. He made his return in 1996 after nearly four years out of the company at that year's Royal Rumble. That was what they were referring to.
Joe Homer They are definitely referring to recently. They've mentioned it in a ton of podcasts, but their memories are off. He did return recently in a special throwback RAW episode, and they are under the assumption that it was the Royal Rumble because that was the narrative of the Jake the Snake Roberts documentary, but he didn't return at the rumble. They are confused.
I can't get disappointed at any Dean Ambrose Match because i know since the beginning that Ambrose sucks, it's easy to don't build expectations for anything involving him
You can't ignore the part WWE played in the Summerslam debacle. It's their fucking belt and anyone with eyes can tell how that's going to go down but they chose to try and get their moment of the reveal and they got exactly what they deserved. Did Seth and Finn deserve better? Of course but that does not mean WWE are off the hook for it either.
*_Totally agree with the last part, since I didn't get all of it, having to decorate with your girlfriend during Christmas is one hell of a job. But the thing is, I think Dolph Ziggler is amazing. He's always been great. To me, he's still one of the most underrated talents in WWE. I just think he's been misused so many times, and just like many other great talents, Dolph Ziggler is one who got screwed by the system known as WWE. They've fucked so many great talents over. Every time they came close to the top, the system kept knocking them back down. Damien Sandow, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes... etc... Just to drop a few of many. Talented guys who deserve to much more than what they've been given. And yeah, Dolph Ziggler "oversells" a little too much sometimes, more than he should. But I don't blame him to much. Bet he's burned out after trying to climb to the top so many times now, but keeps getting knocked back down. He should take sometime off from WWE, and return a couple months later. When Dolph Ziggler returns, he should return as a full blown heel, where he is at his best, and just start trash talking to everyone, saying there's nobody who's as good as he is. Return to his "Show-Off" gimmick, and be more arrogant, selfish than ever. Hell, to begin with he should even get Vickie Guerrero back as his manager, just for a year or less. Just get the most heat on him as possible, and then he could challenge someone like John Cena, Randy Orton, AJ Styles who could elevate him to that main event status, which I hope could happen. I'm not sure if he has what it takes to be a main event guy, but I'm certain he could get there if they really focused on trying, giving him the ball and run with it. And as a heel of course, since Dolph Ziggler is a natural born heel. Babyface just doesn't fit Dolph Ziggler at all, those days are over._*
The Rock does hold the record for quickest match ever, BUT IT WAS EVEN SHORTER THAN HIS MATCH VS ERIC ROWAN!!! It was his first round match at Survivor Series, AKA "Deadly Games" in 1998. It was supposed to be HHH vs The Rock, but HHH was still recovering from an injury and couldn't compete. McMahon sends out Briscoe and Patterson to inform The Rock that he isn't getting a bye to the second round and that his new opponent was The Big Boss Man. Boss Man rolled in, the bell rang, The Rock rolled Boss Man up, ref counts one two three, the bell rings again and The Rock advances to the second round. Match officially lasted 4 seconds (including the 3 count). The Rock would go on to win the WWF Championship at the end of the night and turn heel by siding with the McMahons and become the new "Corporate" Champion.
When talking about bad punches, Roman may have the worst looking punches (not the Superman) compared to how they're sold by commentary. Seems like Maggle always tries to sell it as a huge impact hit, but it looks like a leaning back bitch slap.
Lesnar Vs. Dean was a dud match. It never got exciting, even when weapons got involved and the build-up didn't help it. It shouldn't of been advertised as third main event sadly.
Sweep Dynamic what I hated the most about it was dean filled up a red wagon full of weapons the week before the ppv and then when it was time for the match it was nowhere to be seen. That was highly annoying and almost immediately took me out of the match
Joe Homer BEcause they would enver say that to Cena I guess...
i blame Roman for that match. if you need to be carried in a match you don't deserve the top title
AJ can make anybody look good, even Reigns.
Nerow Victorian triple h is the best. Roman can't compete
Roman Reigns could save 100 orphans from a burning building, find the arsonist, kick his ass, and he'd' still get booed. There's no saving that guy
***** he doesn't have to do that, just put on a good match.
With the quality of actual wrestlers who been doing this longer then Romans NFL career coming in. Being top guy comes with some sort of ring commandment not just muscles.
Merry Christmas Friendos.
Hey there Steve and Larson, merry Fucking Christmas
also merry Christmas to all the friendos
If Dean vs Lesnar isn't number one
LoganConeTV worse than Trips vs Roman?
Son of Piana yes
By far. Lesnar had 2 worst matches of the year and I think he only wrestled in the big 4.
ngrosskurth that's so sad but true
ngrosskurth fastlane
I feel bad for Dean. He tries sometimes. He really does, just doesn't seem to have that spark. Hopefully 2017 will be so much better for him.
Mid 2014, just after the Shield split, he was great. When he would just launch himself at Seth Rollins whenever he could and pummel the crap out of him, and his lunatic persona was energetic and exciting. Then he became Bugs Bunny at some point, and it was all downhill from there.

I'm pretty sure that for wwe there can be at least 100 worst matches of 2016
Owens eliminated AJ in the rumble and when he did he yelled "Welcome to the WWE, AJ!"
Delete or Decay is totally worth looking up. I don't know a whole lot about TNA, but the team they were fighting during that were pretty crazy. The interactions with Broken Matt and Obsolete Jeff are just golden. Especially a certain...resurrection

After the Spinner Belt, the Giant Pennies and the Butterfly Belt, the Universal title doesn't look too bad.

*_I thought I wouldn't get the chance to get on before after Christmas. So Merry Christmas to y'all, friendos, and Steve & Larson! Hope you all have a wonderful day._* 🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁
Steve and Larson need to let us know who they're talking about when they sarcastically joke about having the only wrestling countdown lol
Dolph winning the 4 way was NOT in direct response to Finn getting injured.. It was BEFORE summerslam... COME ON GUYS!!!!
To be fair, the Dirty Deeds has been booked bafflingly strong. When Dean hits it, you know the match is done 90% of the time.
Joe Homer I've only seen aj kick out of it
Horn ofFrog I think Seth and Roman have kicked out of it, but that's pretty much it.
Joe Homer aj definitely kicked out of it against Ellsworth but didn't kick out of the second one
I would love to see Total Nonstop Deletion on a weekly base that would be sweet
Those Baron Corbin/Ziggler matches should of been here. The longest, boring fued all this year.
DumbPunk It wasn't disappointing to anyone because no one was expecting much from them in the first place.
JayWalker Good point
I was at wrestlenania 32. amazing show. But, they actually popped multiple times in the Roman triple h match. every time triple h in the first 5 min threw A punch or anything else, he got a giant pop. Roman got booed so loudly that I believe his mom had to leave because she felt so bad. the boos were so loud that ...u thought he murdered a orphanage. like he was just murdered in hate
Saying the Asylum match had to go longer. I vaguely remember them advertising a Randy Orton match that never happened on one PPV this year. Was it that?
I know there was supposed to be Bray vs. Orton. But that match wasn't canned completely. Bray ended up wrestling Kane.
That was Backlash.
The TNA Match you might be thinking of was Raven's House of Fun Match. They stuck half a cage up and hung weapons from it. It, much like the Asylum match something that just didn't seem all that necessary.
45:18 Lol, Larson finally realized that something didn't taste quite right... after he drank the whole darn thing! XD
The TNA "Variant" of the Asylum Match is Lethal Lockdown.
More like Hell in a Cell meets War Games.
Cage match with War Game entrants, when all participants are in, cage roof lowers with weapons.
Who cares hater, just enjoy
Travis Is here
Hater? what?
Sami was also a surprise entrant in the rumble.
AND SO WAS HUNTER
HHH wasn't a surprise. Even I knew Triple H was going to win that Royal Rumble, and this was at a time when I hadn't watched wrestling since the previous Survivor Series!
Joe Homer it was meant to be a suprise even doe it was obvious. Even obvious suprises are suprises lol.
Also Tatanka, I thought.
and funny enough Braun Strowman eliminated Sami Zayn in that rumble.
As soon as the rock opened his mouth the wyatts should of beaten the shit out of the rock. It made no sense to stand there and take it. Then when Cena came down they should of took him out as well.
My defense for the lack of surprise entrants in the 2016 Royal Rumble match is that it was for the title so they didn't wanna have anyone in the match with 0% chance of winning the title
binge watching S&L on Christmas day...loyal fan or no life??
Scott Trotter loyal
My idea of Brock Lesnar preparing a match is his opponent pitching A LOT of awesome ideas and him just yelling "SUPLEX CITTY!!!!"
Any reason the countdowns are in podcast style now? I loved the condensed versions, because I don't usually have time to listen to an hour of content
re: the Asylum match, it was on the PPV where Enzo got injured and their match was stopped IIRC
11:00 Sasha vs Charlotte Banks.... Whats next? Goldberg vs Bill Lesnar? Roman Cena vs John Reigns? Larson and Steve???
haha
Ukraine One Republic you mean Larson here vs and Steve?
I miss the shorter videos. Also why weren't you guys in the last creepy text theatre!? :( also merry Christmas! ^_^
royal rumble 2016 was not dissapointing as much as or more than wm main event
I thought Brock vs Orton at summerslam would be at least top 5
Jericho was a surprise entrance in the rumble he returned from his tour with fozzy
Daniel Plainview reference, love it!
Yes, Jericho mentioned they had to stretch the asylum match a lot. So I wouldn't blame Jericho or Ambrose for this. Shit happens and it wasn't that important anyway.
decay vs the hardys from bound for glory was the best of the deletion stuff
For the Jericho and Ambrose match, earlier that night was the horrible Enzo injury in the #1 Contenders Tag Match
David Fishkind Enzo's injury was at Payback, a month before the Extreme Rules PPV.
Hey Larson, Merry Christmas, RTJ3 came out just for u
Lesnar vs Dean had the potential to be the Edge vs Foley of this era.
Both Nakamura vs Joe bouts were butchered originally but the full versions did go up i think the week you filmed this.
Regarding #9, it seems like they are gonna put up the entire live shows
How can you say there were no surprises entrants into the rumble? Do you not remember when Sami Zayn came out? That was a surprise.
LoganConeTV triple h was a surprise too.
That whole Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor situation could of be all avoid if they weren't fucking lazy in the belt design and we know they can still make a good belt design look at the Cruiserweight and UK titles.
45:15 what the hell is in Larson's drink?
im pretty sure tag team apocalypto wasnt a wrestling match i mean it is on paper but still it was fun
Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton has to be on here. Like WTF!!!
What exactly was bad about it? It had the best finish of the year.
Off the top of my head, 2 of the most disappointing matches this year were:
AJ vs Jericho and HHH vs Roman.
Both of which were at the same PPV
Merry christmas friendos o7
Rollins v Balor was awesome. It would be even better if you mute the TV.
dudleys should have been at Tag Team Apacolyptical
I'll name some great tag teams!!!! like the Rock and Sock connection!!!!
Triple H V.S Roman Reigns was one of the worst Wrestlemania Main Events in years
Derpy Man For real though. We all knew Roman was gonna win but they could of at least convinced us Triple H had a chance.
Derpy Man triple h shouldn't have main evented another WrestleMania
Derpy Man its probably the worst main event I've seen
I disagree with #2. I think it was a real well booked match from beginning to end. Compared to last year Royal Rumble and even the year before that, which both felt like a slog, this year's match had a lot of great moments that granted WWE did not capitalise on. I get what you mean by surprise entrants but I would rather have a well booked 1 hour match than a whole bunch of surprise entrants who we know are not going to win anyway. Great list as always anyway.
I'm gonna make one of my next podcasts a countdown one just to ruin your claim of being the only one. I'm a bastard.
Its either because of poor booking or a massive ego, classic WWE.
can confirm the Australia Joe v Nakamura cage match was 45min long and amazing! the network version is edited down to shit
I don't even remember Rock vs Eric Rowan being a match at mania
fluffhead7046 nobody does, it lasted like 4 seconds and was a bullshit excuse for a "match"
the young bucks were in tag team apacalypto for about 2 seconds then they got killed by decay
I like the idea of the lake of rejuvenation
why is the royal rumble match in this list it was a good match
Jericho and Dean had to stretch for time because the Enzo injury in the first match of the night against the time travelers.
I actually enjoyed the rumble this year. AJ's debut, all the possible storyline possibilities at the time I thought made it a solid match. Definitely better than the past two.
The Ziggler Ambrose match was mostly Deans fault. Ziggler gave it his all.
Abhishek Mondal Exactly. Dean was coming across as kind of a dick in that match the way he was no selling Zigglers offense. As a matter of fact, he is like that every time these two face off.
I would so watch a Total Non-Stop Deletion/Lucha Underground corssover.
Me too
Why don't you wait until 2017 to do these "counts", as something could happen this week that should make a list? Is there really some kind of rush that it has to be done before the year is over?
LOVE YOU GUYS
i forgot number 7 took place
Sasha vs Charlotte shouldn't be on this list. It was a really good match, the ending hurts it but not enough to call it disappointing.
Why do you think that Sasha vs Charlotte at Roadblock wasn't branded as "iron woman"?
Sounds too close to "iron, woman!"?
the weird thing I remember about the asylum match is Jericho wearing pants....purely because he always used trunks. It was bizarre
TheArnisondude his debut match was in pants so it wasn't that weird.
TheArnisondude for the first 10 years or so of his career he wore "pants"
ChiTownRuler023 yes but these where jeans! and it was specific for this match, not wrestling trunks or tights... jeans
LigerHD I know, but he wore jeans here not tights or trunks
What about the shield triple threat. That was supposed to be match of the year and a five star match but it fell flat.
Sorry Steve and Larson huge fan but I have a major gripe with one point in this video. They should've waited until after exiting the building to shit on the belt.
Trevor Lee and Andrew Everett are on TNA
Fucking hell, this is like the 5th time they've talked about Jake the Snake being in the Royal Rumble recently. NO HE WASNT.
He was in that special legends rumble thing on the Raw 1000 show. That might be what they were referring too. Then mistaking it for the royal rumble.
Beer Money for tag team apocalypto...yes i know Booby Roode is in NXT now but it would have been cool
Roode and hhh fault. Roode should of stayed for the year
I can't get disappointed at any Dean Ambrose Match because i know since the beginning that Ambrose sucks, it's easy to don't build expectations for anything involving him
The Great War at Bound for Glory was better than The Final Deletion
TNA has Lethal Lockdown. The Asylum match was almost a 100% rip off of that.
30:44 it's the lethal lockdown match.
I think I read somewhere probably wwe Facebook the whole NXT Melbourne show will air next week or the week after

I would say I just read the headline but your not suppose to admit when your wrong on the internet :P
If the asylum match isn't on here, we riot
Sasha vs Charrotle shouldn't be on here
Jesus Mosqueda witch one
Larson what was in your cup?
When talking about bad punches, Roman may have the worst looking punches (not the Superman) compared to how they're sold by commentary. Seems like Maggle always tries to sell it as a huge impact hit, but it looks like a leaning back bitch slap.
And number 3 IT WAS THE FIRST TIME WOMEN MAIN EVENTED A PPV!!!
Lesnar Vs. Dean was a dud match. It never got exciting, even when weapons got involved and the build-up didn't help it. It shouldn't of been advertised as third main event sadly.
It's because of two reasons, In my opinion:
1. Extreme Rules matches are so restrained in the PG era.
2. It was a Brock Lesnar 2016 match.
Lucky Koopa Exactly
Sweep Dynamic what I hated the most about it was dean filled up a red wagon full of weapons the week before the ppv and then when it was time for the match it was nowhere to be seen. That was highly annoying and almost immediately took me out of the match
