- 140 aircraft. 20 nations. 4,400 military personnel.
That was exercise Pitch Black 2024 in Australia.
Organised biannually by the Royal Australian Air Force since 1981, Pitch Black is one of the largest military air exercises in the world, featuring Airbus-built state-of-the-art military aircraft like #A400M, #Eurofighter and #A330MRTT.
Hear from the participating Air Forces about the challenges, the manoeuvres, the combat scenarios - and why exercises like Pitch Black 2024 are now more important than ever.

Eurofigher with striker 2 helmet.. great combo.
Incredible jobs.
I can appreciate Airbus extolling the Eurofighter as an awesome platform. However they conveniently left out that an Italian Eurofighter was the only aircraft lost in the 2-week exercise.
Do you have sources why this aircraft crashed? Or do you just assume there was a problem with the aircraft? Also why would Airbus talk about a lost aircraft of the Italian Airforce, that would feel very misplaced in this video, don't you think?
@@4Sp23 www.defence.gov.au/news-events/releases/2024-07-24/statement-exercise-pitch-black-incident Just says unknown issue. Which means we will probably never know.
@@4Sp23airbus makes the Eurofighter
@@4Sp23 I don't argue with what you say, I'm just making the point that marketing can be very one-sided.
@@De_cool_dude sure Airbus plays a big part in development of this aircraft, but the are multiple companies involved. And furthermore it is up to the operator to enclose this kind of information to the public
Would be interesting to see how the Typhoons went against the RAAF F-35s in air to air BVR
Rafale better than typhoon so
I PREFER SAAB GRIPEN/VIGGEN 😊 ! BERNDI AUS NBG
Both use defensive sub systems, and while the EF2000 is not "stealth" it does have a very small RCS. Closer match than you think.
Uhhhh that A400M was waaay lower than 300 feet AGL in that footage. That was true, nap-of-the-earth flying -- IN A CARGO AIRCRAFT lmao. holy shit
So wild
Big Country, beautiful weather.
That A400M low pass, cargo door open was indeed impressive 😎
A proper scudrun!
Super cool video 👍
I was fine with the Spanish & German, but that Aussie LtCol stumped me 😂
He's a Wing Commander not a LtCol
Tres belle avion vreiment lot de brave guys❤
Did I miss the IAF Su-30 or It doesnt exist in the video?
2:54 I may be wrong tho
It appears a few times! We also get glimpses of JASDF F-2 Viper Zeros
Lets see Mindil Beach become the worlds best airshow in 2026. Would be awesome to see a demo or 2 from each country on top of the fly bys.
8:50 Australian Tiger Farewell (America 1 / Europe 0) 🙄
Fantastic! Hopefully we Canadians can join you next time! (With me at the controls of one of those incredible machines haha)
The RAAF does not have Lt Colonel rank. It does have Wing Commander however.
At 4.15 these are Rafales ... not Eurofighters 😊
Keep up the good work and
Keep Boeing trash out of Europe.
Beautiful aircraft.
Very good super super very good😊
nice use of the slomo
Just epic

Hi
Lieutenant Colonel Gonzalez? Not even close, Airbus - he is a Wing Commander. Lieutenant Colonel is not a rank that exists in the Royal Australian Air Force.
Pretty embarrassing for a major Australian Defence Industry partner like Airbus to mess up something so simple.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Hopless
Salads...ok
😘😘😘😘🤩😍💫💫🙏
The RAAF, thank you for edit shawnc5188, does not have the rank of Lieutenant Colonel 🤦
No, the Royal Australian Football Federation doesn’t. 🤦♂️
@@shawnc5188 🤦
@@shawnc5188 🤦 check edit. 👍
He’s a Wing Commander (equivalent to Lt Col in a lot of other militaries so I sort of see what they did there).
10/10 I love Boeing
😅😢😮🎉😂❤ 0:38 😅
Aren't Airbus the planes that keep falling apart?
You surely mean boeing max*
No...they are not. You are confusing Airbus with Boeing...and at Boeing it is only the civilian sector that is struggling with major quality issues.
That's Boeing.
so many typhoons but No Rafael ?
An Airbus documentary and they will not say that an Italian typhoon has been lost. 🤔
Maybe there was a Rafael, for sure there have been Rafale. (The beautys)
