I saw Watchmen at the Egyptian last night. Was reminded why it's maybe my favorite film of his. It's a winner just by how good it LOOKS alone. It's so good visually.
Part 2 uncut battle is mind blowing crazy. The problem is releasing weaker versions first just upsets people. Most won't even watch the uncut versions because they disliked the pg13 version and then they hate on Snyder
The release strategy is designed by Netflix to milk subscriptions with 4-month intervals over almost an entire year’s time. 😉 Gotta pay the bills differently than a theatrical studio.
I haven't seen Rebel Moon movie because I knew Zack had a director's cut version which I'm hyped about... and I heard that Rebel Moon PG-13 version wasn't great. His movies doesn't do well when they chop it up to pieces.
He went in knowing from the beginning that he was making a pg-13 version. Are you telling me he couldn't figure out how to make that work? This isn't the same as a studio forcing him to butcher what he already shot in the editing or taking it away from him and giving it to another director. Both versions of RM should be good if he has the talent. There are parts of RM that can't be fixed by a director's cut because they were bad in the writing and execution. I want to see good work from him, and I even hope the director's cuts are good, but RM had a lot more wrong with it than a DC can fix unless the writing, acting, and logic of many scenes were completely changed from top to bottom.
@@Fardawgfr it makes no sense, dude was given full creative control over this and still somehow makes a directors cut 🤣 i’ve never seen anything like it
Wow and epic just watched it. I really really had a blast with the directors cut. Obviously there was more intense action and gore. But this version really fleshed all the characters and their arcs. There was way more story! And scenes I thought were cut short or kinda weak from the original version, were greatly improved or extended. Great job guys!! Great interview.
No one else saying it so I’m gonna say it. Rebel Moon Directors Cut is awesome. They’re hated now. But I believe it will age well with time to the likes of the Star Wars Prequel trilogy

Rebel Moon Dc is on another level. I love every bit of it. I can wait to see more of the Saga. And yeas, I would love to have a Steelbook of the Rebel Moon for sure
I like his director’s cuts, which in this case are Watchmen Director’s Cut, Batman vs Superman: Ultimate Edition, Zack Snyder’s Justice League & Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts. Let’s see if the SnyderPunch happens down the road.
I'm glad that Zack's Rebel Moon story wasn't taken in by Star Wars. I think Kathleen Kennedy would have made it worst, restricted his fiction and she would not give Zack a director's cut if his Star Wars film failed.
Is there another trailer coming before Friday? Was there a lot of reshoots due to the nature of running a PG-13/R shoot simultaneously? Are characters in Rebel Moon named after your own personal film mythology e.g. "Krypteans" or are any of your other films sprinkled into this universe? Is there a desire from Netflix to push forward with RM or are they waiting to see how the DCs do? Do YOU want to continue RM while the iron is hot, if you have another project, when do you want to go back to RM universe? These are some good questions to ask rather than the Nolan Watchmen question he's been asked a half dozen times since ZSJL dropped. Hire me dammit! 😅
Honestly not the biggest Zack Snyder fan but I will watch the directors cut at some point. Love the show guys would love some interviews with some sound techs, and editors sometime also.
There is a very, very big difference between paying to watch an individual movie in the theater and watching a movie at home that you get essentially "for free" if you already have a month subscription that can be far less than a single ticket for a one-time viewing, and which gives you a ton of other shows and movies for that price per month. There is also the dodgy definition of what constitutes a "view" for streaming services. Reportedly, a "view" on Netflix can be as little as watching for two minutes, meaning you could watch for a few minutes and then turn it off and never come back to it and they still count it! I know people who watched less than half the first movie before deciding it was garbage and they never went back or saw part 2. It is silly to try and say Rebel Moon would have drawn that kind of audience in theaters.
Hey Reelblend. I wish you had pressed Zack a little more on his response to the question about "when did you know when the directors cut was done? (editing)". It seems like Zack is saying that he was not happy with the final cut of the director cut (😂) as he just had to submit it for the deadline or something. Would be great to know because, lets be honest, he has been hyping up this cut for while now so, i wanna know if im in for a hack job or for the "true vision". Thanks.
@@JDaddy_SZN You are seriously comparing WB giving his film to another director to Zack knowing while negotiating the contract that he was making a pg-13 version? He had time, and should have the talent, to still make a good pg-13 film without it being a mess and needing a director's cut to be coherent and logical. And it's not the same as having a company force you to butcher a film you already shot.
Sorry Snyder haters, but the director's cut of "Rebel Moon" is one of the best things he's ever done, and I'll add a little further praise. I think Akira Kurosawa would have loved this version of his story. I think Zack has regraded the colors and the movie looks gorgeous. I liked the first version but thought it was awfully choppy. This cut shows that they cut out nearly all the quieter character moments that let the story breath. Now things make sense and flow better. The added runtime really helps all the characters, especially Djmon Hansou, Anthony Hopkin's philosophical robot (he's got some of the most beautiful moments in the movie), and someone who never gives a bad performance, Bae Doona. (The only drag to her being in this movie is she was shooting it during the press tour for "Broker," in which she plays a police officer after IU, so didn't get to see her talk about that.) Even the bad guy, Nobel, sort of grew on me. He's such a completely self-assured bastard that he always take time out to play with his victims and see if he can cause just a little bit more pain before he kills them. Nothing ever makes him doubt for a moment he won't win (sort of like a younger Peter Cushing in "Star Wars,") and if he has to fight, he's completely teeth-baring feral about it. It's sure not a phoned-in performance. It also makes clear that Snyder wasn't kidding about this being a huge setting for stories, and he threw a really spectacular addition into the story (either inspired by "Farscape" or "Princess Mononoke" I think) that hint he's got some very interesting ideas to explore. I hope Netflix extends the series. I think they'd be nuts not to.
