    KEVIN:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Pick that Okra much much sooner and it wont be so hard/tough, and spiny.....The ones you were picking in the video is what my family calls, "gone to seed" already!!! We all pick our okra just before it starts to form ridges.....when it is tender. Try that and your wife may enjoy Okra. They tend to have a totally different taste then. Also, we use fish fry in a golden bag to bread ours.....OMG is it good!!! I forget the name of it....You can't miss the cylinder like bag it comes in...it's shiny gold. (Walmart- on flour isle) It has just a touch of spice- not hot or even medium- its just the right amount. It takes okra to a whole new level! My grandmother, 94, has been using fish fry to cook her okra all her life and we fight over it!!! LOL Also, she will bread her okra before she freezes it. She says it's easier to deal with if you go ahead and get the hard part over with...Breading it. IDK how she does it but each one of her pieces is perfect and never sticks together.....She says its because she breads and freezes it but, that never works for me!!! LOL She puts it in hot grease straight from the freezer- no waiting. And its perfect!!!! Trust me, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. She's going to cook some this 4th of July and I can't wait!!! Try cutting your okra a good bit younger and see if you like it better. Happy growing- love your videos!

    • @schex9
      @schex9 4 года назад

      Make sure your oil is hot enough when you put in the first piece and your coating may stick better. Get the oil to 375 degF. I bet your grandmother gets her oil hot for cooking.

    Rather than wasting the excess egg and flour that's left over, use as much of both as makes coating the vegetables easy then save the egg and flour in the fridge. The following morning mix them together with milk and any extra egg or flour you need to make pancake batter.

    Loved that you've joined the air fryer world. I use olive oil in mine. I just drizzle some over the food from the dispenser. I think what happens that the airfryer distributes molecule size pieces of oil all over the food. Whatever is happening all the food Browns evenly. I first thought it would only Brown on the pieces they will touched and not the case. Please do not include me in your generous giveaway because as you can tell I already own an air fryer. I have tried breading and frying jalapenos stuffed with cheese. I've never been able to get the breading to stick well. I"m going to drying and flouring the way Kevin showed. You two are a blessing. And a great example that marriages can work if Jesus is in the relationship.💜

    Great video. Good suggestions about the breading. Glad to hear something works with homegrown as well.

    OMG!!! Never really ate okra before but found it at my local farmers market, brought it home and steamed it and I loved it.. now I remember some restaurants where they had fried okra and I would love to get my hands on an air fryer to try it that way yes. Thank you for introducing me to something new

    I checked out the air fryer you all tried on Amazon. It looks really reasonably-priced. I'm excited to possibly win one. Thank you for the opportunity.

    I'm with you, Sarah. Can't stand okra. Glad you two can enjoy different things without an argument. My husband and I did the same thing. He'd fix his liver and onions and I didn't have to touch it! My daughter just got an air fryer and loves it. So far, everything she's tried has been great.
