  • Airlines are set to spend billions on new stock buybacks - despite mass flight cancellations & understaffing. Congress banned the practice in 2020 after U.S. airlines spent $47 billion on buybacks last decade. Now the ban is about to expire. Sara Nelson and the Association of Flight Attendants is calling to extend it.

I'm so fcking disgusted, and tired of this sort of BS. No employer in America gives a single nugget of sht about their employees and it needs to change ASAP. We need a _National Sick-Out_ day to begin with.

We need to general strike where everybody goes on strike for one day or two days they've done it in other countries they've.
      done that in Europe.

When companies run their business as bad as a lot of airlines do then negotiating more paid sick days and vacation days is wise. To many companies in U.S. don't care if they burn out their employees.

I despise Ronald Reagon so much. Stock buybacks are literal stock manipulation that provide no substantive service or product. They need to be returned to being completely outlawed.
Thank you, Sara Nelson, and the AFA, and MPU crew.

The best decision I ever made was leaving aviation after 18yrs with UAL. I knew after 9/11 it would be never the same. Then the recession in 08 and Covid in 2020. It seems like the industry gets hammered every 8-10 yrs.

Workers aren't protected, get low pay, and no/little benefits. The pilots are in debt because of flight school and can't afford to pay it off because of their wages. This is the airlines' fault. CONGRESS NEEDS TO FIX IT!

Either make your company work or go under. No more tax payers Money to bail out air lines anymore. F... That. Companies use the money to buy back stocks and do nothing to help their workers.

Well here we are one year later and my 25 year old daughter had to drive from Jacksonville, Florida to Denver Colorado on Christmas day because their flights were continuously delayed and then canceled and that was on Southwest. Same daughter had to drive from San Antonio to Denver in June (and back), and yesterday their flight got canceled so they drive to Austin to catch a different flight and then they get stuck in Charlotte NC overnight when THAT flight was cancelled and this morning, their rebooked flight was delayed for fog and mysteriously cancelled 3 hours later. No fog to speak of. Now they’re taking an Uber 1/2 way and meeting family to go the other half. This is completely unacceptable. The longer we accept this and allow it to continue, the less likely it will get fixed. Meanwhile executives are lining their fat pockets. Pete Butigieg is a fUck!ng clown.

@Bodhi, so then, what would you recommend they should have done instead, keep on working under the same deplorable conditions as they watched colleagues be laid off while shareholders and execs cleaned up? Seriously now, let’s hear your ideas. Forget about teachers for the moment. Let’s talk about airline workers.
