Is It Time To Build Cash Or Keep Buying While The Market Hits New Highs? - What I am Doing Now
Hello everyone, I am Daniel Pronk and in this video I explain what I am currently doing in the market and if I am beginning to build cash.

Successful investing is hard work because it means disciplining your mind to do the opposite of human nature. Buying during a panic, selling during euphoria, and holding on when you are bored and just craving a little action. Investing is 5% intellect and 95% temperament.
Government policy has thrown the future under the bus for decades. The day of judgment is near. I predict an 80% drop in the stock market. Investors will abandon stocks in favor of real estate. There will be no money in banks... You must devise a strategy for survival.
I agree. I have pulled in more than $435k since 2022 through my advisor. It pays off more in the long run to just pick quality stocks and ride with those stocks.
@@ThomasChai05Mind if I ask you to point at how to reach this particular person assisting you? Seems you've figured it all out unlike the rest of us.
'Gertrude Margaret Quinto' maintains an online presence. Just make a simple search for her name online.
She appears to be well-educated and well-read. I ran a Google search on her name and came across her website; thank you for sharing.
I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises of plummeting stocks which were once revered and i don't know where to go here out of devastation.
Safest approach i feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown. its important to seek the guidance of an expert
A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.
Glad to have stumbled on this comment, Please who is the consultant that assist you and if you don't mind, how do I get in touch with them?
Viviana Marisa Coelho is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment..

I just sold NVDA. Be fearful when others are greedy. I'm happy with my 235% gain in less than 3 years!
Bad move. Tax hit, and Nvidia will be much higher in 10-20 years.
Selling quality businesses because they look expensive is the worst mistake you can make. It’s exactly how you miss out on long term compounding.
It’s totally different to buy Nvidia at this price versus holding after a big gain. You have a big margin of safety and can ride a retracement. You just traded 235% for 210% plus all future gains. It may look expensive now but that’s what everyone has said about the company the entire ride up.
Good idea. Buy once it tanks
How’d that go for you there champ? 😂😂
@@jin6000 I'd say 235% gain in less than 3 years is pretty good. It's 92.5% higher than it's 250 day EMA! That's insanely overvalued! Once people realize that it's gonna crash hard! The last time it came even close to that was November 2021 when it reached 78%, then suddenly came back to reality and was at 2.88% in January 2022.
@@bradjbourgeois73 Just kidding, you’re absolutely right. Well done on your gains buddy!
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. You have no idea how much we appreciate it
Thank you for the kind words, Mark! I really appreciate the kind words and I am happy you're enjoying my videos. I hope you continue to do so :)
Its kind of sad to see everyone jumping on to the Nvidia hype train. Whatever happened to "be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful". Everyone just forgot about the basics and its going to hurt a lot of people in the long run. It boggles my mind how friends I know claim to "never fall for these hype stocks" yet buy Nvidia at all time highs.
It’s going to be a good lesson for all those people.
Always a peace of mind to hear you. TY and bonne voyage
bought 100 shares of BAM yesterday YOLO

Thanks for your thoughts Daniel.....I agree with so much of what you said "you can't own everything"

Wow 👌, simple n effective
Great one Daniel, it's good to hear someone say out loud that it's ok to miss out on something.
very good perspective...
Enjoy your vacation, Daniel! I hope you bring some travel stories to the next video. As always, good video. It is useful and informative. Controlling one's emotions while investing is one of the most difficult and most useful of skills. I am all for "buy the dips, and sell the rallies..."
Thank you for the kind words! I will do my best to post videos while I am in Spain :) I love RUclips and engaging with all of you. It's not a job for me :)
great video, thank you. im in the tech stocks from way back and slowly adding with caution. im in many great dividend stocks and i love BAM. Ill keep adding BAM this year. have a great year Daniel
Great investing information. I too believe what you've mentioned. I too am in the same graces as you.
When do you jump out of NVDA? Or just take some profit every now and then?
Excellent video Daniel. Some very good advice. People need to ask, where is the EV & Lithium Bubble now?
What’s the difference between BN/BAM? Which to buy?
Good video 👍👍👍
Hey Daniel. Another great video as usual.
I like your rationale.
I would also like you to do a review of Dollarama!
Thanks for your hard work.
Daniel, can you cover Dollarama? It seems to be a much superior business compared to Dollar Tree and Dollar General

I don’t think so because stocks like FVRR or UPST also talked a lot about AI but still tanked. The market knows quite good what tue real AI stocks are imo.
Thank you for touching on that point that I feel a lot of people are missing when it comes to big movement stocks such as NVDA currently and GME which are not the same reasoning but still a FOMO trap in my opinion. People tend to get caught up in that, and when they see 8% return they think that's not enough yet that's very good on a consistent basis year over year as an average. Time is something that can be overlooked and that's the true wealth builder, time and good simple investment strategies and not chasing stocks.
Thanks for this Daniel.
EDIT: I really wish I didn't sell my NVDA stocks last year though lol!
Thank you for the kind words! And yes, I agree. It's tough to focus on nice and consistent returns when stocks are up 60% in 2 months and keep going higher. But you have to consider risk, too.
I love the methodical, rational approach. Massive run-ups are euphoric while the music is playing, but once that music stops, look out...I definitely learned that one the hard way with a portion of my portfolio over the past few years. Never fun losing money so just be careful y'all.
You rock Danny.
What are your thought on Monish Pabrai cannibals (aka share buybacks at low price) companies CEIX, AMR, ARCH, HCC?

Great video! Quick question as a fellow Canadian, what brokerage do you use?
Thank you, Alex! I use TD for everything as they have me, haha. All my banking and everything is done through TD, so it's just very convenient to use them for investing, too.
@@microstrategyus295 makes sense, you are truly fully invested in the business haha. I just checked their website and saw it’s $9.99 commission fees. Does this affect how you perceive the opportunity cost of investing/DCA?
Great !!!
Thank you!!
What is the moat of EQB?
I bought book, a lot of information, very clear and coherent. Honestly, I made me re think of how to invest. 😊 Berkshire have just reached 1 trillion cap, that in itself without the enthusiasm says a lot. I agree, invest into high quality buisiness with a good moat, and reinvest into the company and let it compound
Good video! I’ve been buying BN, Health Care, Consumer Staples, Telecom and Nasdaq 100
Sounds like some solid buys! I am still buying EQB, BAM, BN, GSY, and some others :)
I’m currently in cash outside of a few dividend stocks
The voice of sanity. We both sitting this one out. When Caterpillar had sentences on their AI moves in their results statement. I decided that the ground is no longer safe. Thanks for consistency Daniel 🙏
Thank you for sharing your investment style, chasing hype stocks for a quick profit is definitely not an ideal investing style of yours!
You mentioned that some companies mentioned AI just to get on the AI bubble & a weed company that wants to add AI to their business segement, could you share which companies they are? Thanks
Daniel, you say you don't buy AI Stocks, but do you dollar cost average into QQQ? The nasdaq 100 is such an outperformer over the long run in comparison to industrials, even with huge corrections.
Sold Nvidia at 250...(bought at 100!)
I underestimated their moat.. surprisingly noone has challenged their AI accelerators and their revenue growth speaks for that
Amd and Intel has upcoming products but I have now serious doubts about that

Change brokerage. IBKR is a good choice for international stocks.
Agree with you daniel
I velive that Nvidia itself is a good business, but the total ai hype might be a bubble or overhyped
As other have mentioned
Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful
I’m out on funds when the S&P 500 hits 5,200. Maybe next week? Individual stocks purchased at great prices, I am in for the long run.
Big +1 to this!
This touched on a few things from "One Up On Wallstreet" from the pivoting from a weed a company to an AI company (di-worse-ification) to the generating ideas about stocks (with your friend and the company he works for all talking about Nvidia). Great video, as always. Hearing stuff like this makes you reel in your emotions and not invest in something you know nothing about. Have a safe trip to Spain!
Thank you Adrien! Yes, this is Peter Lynch's cocktail theory in action. When you see everyone discussing a single stock or sector, it's a sign it's high and expensive. I am avoiding it and sticking to what I know works for me.
Hi Daniel, you have been given some really bad suggestions on several stocks in the past 5 years based on your “evidence” based research and evaluations. They all bearish to-date and put lots of investors who follow your suggestions in an awkward holding position or sold stocks with loss to slow down additional loss… What’s up with that?
Hi Daniel,
The EPS growth of EQB is low. Check out this calculation:
10-month 2023 EPS: 9.40
12-month 2023 EPS: 11.28 (9.40÷10×12)
FY 2024 EPS guidance: 12.00 (midpoint)
EPS growth: 12.00/11.28 × 100 = 106.38%
This growth doesn't seem that impressive.

This AI rally is far from over. It is not too late to catch this AI train.
You could be right, but I am going to pass. I am okay sticking with what I know
I have two ETF and one third in cash, I’m concerned about the reckless spending by our government and that America is 3.4 trillion dollars in debt.
I agree, eventually the debt will become an issue eventually. However, it's also best to own assets to hedge against the potential of massive debt-induced inflation
Hyperbolic AI bubble for sure. If you're in you're in, but entering now carries escalating risk.
AI bubble is still in its early stage. More bubble is coming.
Well said. Someone is using Jake picture. I knew he was not Jake because he did not know about abnb or chewy.
Thank you for the kind words! Yes, be careful with fakes on the internet
I know the business of tech since I work in the computer field I just think nividia is over valued
I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks this year. Hope to make millions in 2024.
Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient but remember the bigger the risk the bigger the results. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.
Exactly, a good number of people discredit the effectiveness of financial advisor, but over the past 7years, I’ve had a financial advisor consistently restructure and diversify my portfolio and I’ve made over $3 million in gains… might not be a lot but i'm financially secure and that's fine by me.
How can I participate in this? I sincerely aspire to establish a secure financial future and am eager to participate. Who is the driving force behind your success?.
There are many financial coaches who excel in their profession, but for the time being, I employ “Melissa Rose Francks” because I adore her methods. You can make research and find out more.
Thanks for sharing this. I did my own little research, and your advisor looks advanced and experienced. I wrote her and dialed her twice but she didn't pick up so I scheduled a phone call.
NVDA will probably split.
What's your point?
@@JaPoSkipper possibly when the stock cost gets to high and stalls it might split to keep people buying?
@@kt6332the higher they rise the harder they fall!! 😅
Not sure if this is what you meant, but if you meant you would never invest in any company in the AI sector, that’s a terrible attitude as an investor and one that goes completely against Buffett’s principles.
He deeply regrets ignoring tech 20 years ago. Taking an absolute stance will always hurt you. You don’t need to understand every facet of Nvidia’s hopper chips to understand the business.
Worse than that is “totally ignoring” it just because you don’t understand it. Being willing to continue learning is what marks a great investor.
AI equals the marketing term "HD Ready" these days. It just isn't what it pretends to be yet. Did you ever see "4K ready" ?
Actual AI would change the world instantly. Let's call this hype for what it is. The use of algorithms to generate an acceptable response based on text available on the web.
That is not AI in my vocabulary.
How long last s a hype usually?
Why not add AI to your circle of competence? None of your existing companies were in your circle of competence at one point. AI has the legitimacy to be the next technological revolution after the Internet. NVDA's 66 PE and 37 forward PE can even be considered a bargain for its growth.
The AI technology is still in its infancy & is some form of it will be used by businesses across the board. However, some stocks are trading at ridiculously high prices so need to be very careful investing in such things
It’s crazy to buy Nvidia now at best it goes to $1,500 in less than 10 years AMD is a better play
It's crazier to buy AMD. The multiples are sky high. Why do you believe AMD is a better play? It looks more expensive than Nvidia
AMD's valuation is out of this world
Buy the dips and sell the rallies .
Nvidia is a bargain buy with PE in high 20s and low 30s with over 700% operating growth. Out of the Mag 7, the cheapest out there from the mega caps.
Is it sustainable growth though?
And when everyone has stocked their data center’s or businesses with chips, how often do you think they’ll upgrade? Will that hurt nvidia?
@@yourgflikesit I’m seeing this AI revolution at its infant state now. 2-3 years of massive growth before getting stable 15-20% per year growth rate. Only the first inning of a 9 inning game. That’s why people miss out on the stock market as I’ve been investing for the past 5 years. Don’t forget NVIDIA does software upgrades along with its chips. Service business will be like Apple with newer chips coming out often and customers will have to upgrade or be left out.
@@RD-ob6nf yes, for the next 2-3 years of massive earnings than leveling off at 15-20% growth. Demand for its H100 chips and H200 chips coming out this fall will be high. No other chip makers have NVIDIA’s software or hardware capabilities as they own the marketplace for AI hardware and software.
Is the topic of this video about NVDA or about buying or building cash?
It seems like you are just mumbling on about not knowing anything about NVDA
and then you told people everyone is rushing to buy NVDA.
If you can't even do a discounted cash flow analysis about NVDA,
then this video is just about telling people it's time to stay away from NVDA.
I guess you didn't know there are a lot of stocks that didn't go up with NVDA and SMCI.
With your purchase of Fortinet., would you say you understand the cybersecurity industry really well? I find it quite hard to get a solid grasp on and would love an explanation on it from you in a future video.
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Charlotte Miller

The fact that the inimitable Warren Buffet is sitting on a record level pile of cash. Should tell you all you need to know about the market...
Buddy, he is sitting on a record amount of cash but the ratio hasn't changed. Are you a perma bear?
@@viajay So the fact that a value investor is sitting on cash. Doesn't that suggest to you that at best the market is fairly valued? Or does it suggest to you that the market is undervalued and they're screaming deals everywhere?
@@PeterParker-wj3cr you have to look at the ratio between the cash and equity. If the ratio hasn't changed, what does it tell you? He hasn't raised the percentage of his cash holding.
You're gonna sit on the side and watch stocks go up? or mitigate risk and start DCA-ing small sums? Why time the market on this annual drum beat of "market's frothy?"
