Your videos are brilliant! So informative and showing how to do nails in a non- damaging way. I’d love to see a video of you taking off the plexi gel safely and plexi gel vs acrylic. I haven’t had acrylic nails for years and I don’t know now if they’re any less damaging to our nails?
Aww thank you that’s really nice to hear. In terms of acrylic vs Plexigel I do both but because I love Plexigel so much most of my clients have converted over because they offer the same level of strength but I find I get no lift with it. I would sometimes find by the 3/4 week infill with acrylic there would be on occasion some lift. I have a lady this week with plexigel so I’ll see if she would mind me doing a full removal and reapplication for me to film so you can see her natural nails underneath after safe removal. What did you want to see in regards to the acrylic, is it the removal of that too so you can see the condition of the natural nail? It’s not actually the product that damages the nail, it’s how the nail is prepped before application and how it is removed that can damage the nail. When I get some time I’ll do a video on acrylics and removal for you so you can see the difference 😊
@@nailsbycharleds oh that would be fab thank you. In my forties and now the children have grown up a little I have just trained with CND on a shellac beginners course and so many teenage girls and girls in their early 20’s are having acrylics now. I was hoping I could perhaps deliver the same results with plexigel when I have more experience - I remember when I had acrylics when I was younger and they damaged my nails so much. Technology and times have changed and I’d love to see how acrylics are done now and if they were less damaging and which were kinder to nails. But as you say if it’s all in the application and remove it is up to the nail technician really isn’t it and what their methods are! I’m loving these videos as it’s giving me an insight into the next level for me - thanks so much xx
@@helenbrookes4157 I personally prefer Plexigel and builder gels in general over acrylics but that is my personal preference. You tend to find younger girls like the extremely long acrylics, but again I won’t extend more than the length of the natural nail to avoid breakage and unnecessary damage to the natural nail. I personally use Nsi for my acrylics but again it depends what you prefer and how you like to work because some set quicker than others and the temperature of the room your working in can make a difference. If I am extending more than just a free edge I tend to apply a tip first and then build the Plexigel builder to add strength and build the apex. Over time my ladies nails tend to grow to the extension length anyway. If you have Instagram have a look on my page and you will see the sets I have done using the Plexigel and the different lengths I have created. If there’s anything you’d like to know I’d be happy to help you x
Yes you can but I’d advise only adding a small free edge, so it is less likely to break. It will also give the client time to get used to having a nail. The other alternative is, you could apply the builder in a bottle as an overlay so it provides additional strength to their nails, so they can grow them naturally themselves 😀
So because in this video I needed to build myself a new free edge I was having to “build” a new nail. The builder gel is slightly thicker in viscosity so when building a nail you need this for strength. You could also add a tip and then build over the top if your not confident in sculpting. When you come to do the infill for this set I would apply shaper then because I would just be infilling the product nearer the cuticle area. I hope that makes sense. If you just wanted to do an overlay or plump the natural nail if it has dips in the nail you could just apply a layer of shaper then
Love your videos, I was wondering where you did your training for the plexigel? I'm trained in cnd shellac many years ago I have an account also with sweet squared but can't see any training for this available. If you could point me in the right direction that would be great!
Thank you 😊 When they released the Plexigel back in October Natalyia did a live demonstration using it. I’m sure they would have saved it somewhere, they’re usually very helpful so I’m sure if you sent them a message they would be able to tell you were it is. Also on the sweetsquared website, you can see videos of them using it. It doesn’t have anyone talking but that might help too x
The name of the gel I’m using is in the title of the video I’ve created. “How to build a nail using CND Plexigel” I also reference which products I’m using throughout the video 🤷♀️
Sweetsquared have a table which will show you roughly how many services you should get from each bottle. The bonder is 100 sets Builder is 20 sets Shaper is 30 sets Topcoat is 80 sets It will also tell you the cost per service for each bottle, so you would need to contact them for all of the other products you use. The way I work out how much to charge for my treatments is to include my hourly wage, so you need to decide what you want to be earning per hour. Then your business cost, costs of products used etc. There’s much more to it than just plucking a figure out of the air or charging what the salon up the road costs because your overheads will be different. I hope that helps 😊
I tend to do a couple on the same hand first by building the free edge if I’m sculpting. Or if they have tips I will apply a layer over the first 4 fingers but work quickly and flash cure for 10seconds then do the thumb and then back to the others and cure for one min. Then I start on the other hand whilst the first hand is in the lamp. This way you get into the habit of working quickly and more efficiently x
Thanks for your feedback, you’re right it does appear to be crooked however my middle finger is slightly bent so the form has been fitted to accommodate this. You will see the finished enhancement is positioned straight. Not sure if you’ve learnt about correct form fitting, but there are many different elements to it that you need to account for and this is a free advice and knowledge I’m giving here which is a lot more informative than most, however I can’t go through everything otherwise there would be nothing to put in my courses 😀
That was awesome. We’ll done. Thank you!

Can you do this for very short nails? For people that bite their nails?
