I met my ex thru "chatline" in my early 20s. It was totally a blind date because just call a 1800- number $1 a min, give an intro find a suitable voice n chat all we want(late 2000s)😅.Best was to exchange numbers so we dont have to waste $1/min We meet up, she wasnt my type but we lasted 4years My advice is looks isnt everything...once yall click n started missing each other daily then things start to fall into place We broke up because i was too childish in my early 20s n shes already looking for a husband. Felt guilty for wasting her time
What i've found here is, compared to India and prior to that, Australia. SG is completely materialistic, its all about the body, not the personality. I've also found in a few cases theres certain archaic values held while also being as liberal as possible. its strange to say the least. The biggest point however is the arrogance on both sides, and the perceived requirements in which falls for monetary value over internal values. As an Australian, we are generally warm people, but that doesnt mix with a majority of Singapores heavier in recent years, chinese influence. If we were talking 5 years ago, it was similar but a little colder than Malaysians who are warm caring people generally, that however has changed and work is the only focus, and then bto/hdb, and then a large alcohol collection, then friends/relationships. As i say here, Everyone is a wannabe but they dont want to be themselves.
You are not wrong within a context. But only 3.6 million persons are Singaporeans out of 5.9 mil. The rest are just transient and from elsewhere. That is the context.
Hi Swizzyinsg, I do got friends who try out dating app some of them work out great. And some just wanted to get to know more peoples before going further.
You mentioned you found a gay whom worked 12 hours a day. Might wasn't his fault because of the situation of Singapore, people have to work hard to pay bills and so on.... Am I right? (Still I read about Singapore)
@@Swizzyinsg as SG guy, personally it is true. More men than ladies, and also most of my guy friends and i are interested in dating ladies of other ethnicities. To be fair, I married a foreigner
Based on my own experience, the main problem with singaporeans getting into relationships with westerners is that westerners don't see things like divorce, raising children without being married or living together, having affairs, abortions, having their children raised by single parents, etc as too much of an issue... or even an issue at all! Also, westerners tend to be more okay with lying or being lied to, and tend to make promises and plans only to change their mind afterwards. This is based on my own experience but a lot of it is also backed by stastistics. In singapore, most locals who don't intend to leave aren't intrested in people who can't be sure that they'll be staying with them forever, and this is important to them as making sure their children can grow up with both parents is very important to them. There are locals who aren't as concerned about this but they tend to be low lifes and you're out of their league. There's also the 40% of the population are not citizens and they can easily be kicked out at anytime, and as such they understand that their existence there is temporary and they tend not to get into serious relationships with people who aren't from their home country.
I used meetup not for just dating but to find people with common interest. And thats how i met my wife. Face filters... damn how times have changed! During my time, people tend to post older photos 😅
Your height has basically filtered out majority of the asian guys 😅 I'm 196 cm tall and Indian, and my dating experience while living in SG was average I met few asian girls with whom it didn't go past 3-4 dates as their long term preference was to settle down with someone within their own ethnicity (understandable from the pov of family, culture, and what not) I connected well with a couple of girls but they wanted to settle down within a year, like house, marriage, kids, grandkids etc. I actually dated a swiss girl for a year, we met in a comic shop, and connected over our shared love for mangas, games, and food. It was a great experience with her Anyways, you'll meet someone great 😊
