Fantastic. I read Hebrew Bible every day in Hebrew. I love your videos. How to recognize when it is קָמֵץ and when it is קָמֵץ הָטוּף ?
Thank you!
The qamets chatuph (pronounced as an "o" sound) occurs when both of the following conditions are met: 1) it is a closed syllable & 2) the syllable is unaccented.
If these conditions are not met, it should be qamets (pronounced as an "ah" sound). :)
@@AlephwithBeth תודה רבה לך. עכשיו הכל ברור. שׁלום וברכה.

Wow! That was so great! You’re pronunciations are followable! 😅 praise Yah! Wanna learn Hebrew so bad! Yah’s language!
Are there theories about "selah"?
I believe it's generally considered to indicate some kind of musical "pause," but we don't know for sure.
As much as I love the biblical content, I also appreciate learning the linguistic and grammatical terminology.
Muito bom... me faltam palavras para agradecer..
Really appreciate the work G-D is doing thru you guys. Thank you for teaching Lashon Kodesh
Hi. Do you have any brief advice for learning vocabulary outside of the Vocab you cover in your video lessons? For example, I want to read specific chapters in Genesis, and to learn the Vocab I don’t know yet in those chapters. I was thinking of putting pictures next to the Hebrew words and also making picture cards for myself on my PC (replicating your style somewhat) as a way to review, with no English at all. I am however also thinking also of doing flashcards (Hebrew-English), but I like having no English glosses, so I am not sure if this is best way (I have done flashcards on an app before. OK, but not great). My goal, in any case, is for the words to really “stick.” I also thought to just keep looking at the words in my reader’s Bible, but I might not sure if this is the best way. Anyway, any brief suggestions you might have would be great. Thank you.
Replete with so many of the elements that have me addicted to your videos. Thanks
This video sent me on a quest to find this song that I heard a lot as a little kid: ruclips.net/video/4VukfnWnbyw/видео.html
Yay! Now I can sing along :D
So a קמץ חטוף is the same as a קמץ קטן but not a חטף קמץ? How confusing...
True

Medieval scholars used the names interchangeably because in Sephardi Hebrew a qamatz makes an /a/ sound, while in Ashkenazi Hebrew (and therefore in Yiddish) it makes an /o/ sound...
A qamatz qatan usually appears before a schwa, so they "imagined" there was a schwa on that qamatz too...
Tenho aprendido muito com estas aulas que o Eterno -vos Abençoe
No language explanation is better than yours,Beth
Please, how can one who doesn't know or understand Hebrew ab initio be part of Hebrew study when there's no interpretation in his own language. It would have been better if there were to be say Hebrew to English or English to Hebrew for easy or effective communication.
Shalom.
Ihejiene Samuel.
The lessons are designed to guide you from no Hebrew knowledge to being able to understand these more advanced lessons. It's very important to start with Lesson 1 and watch them all in order, and then you will be able to understand this lesson. See the playlist for Lessons 1-50 to get started! 😊 (Actually, having English translations for everything will train your brain to translate to English all the time, and therefore read very slowly, instead of understanding Hebrew directly and naturally. 😉)
I just have to say, God has absolutely helped you in entering the realm of POETRY. I love how you enter into double meanings and puns.
Cuantos CAPITULOS tene el curso hebreo? Solo puedo ver 109 capitulos. Me gustaria saver si ai mas. No para verlo de nuevo.
Hasta ahora, el curso va hasta la lección 109 y hay más en proceso. Seguimos trabajando para producir más. Cada semana lanzamos un video. :)

hi Beth, How are you, in Brazil, worried about you?
Thank you for your concern. We aren't Israeli and we don't live in Israel, so we're not personally affected by the tragic situation there. We are grieving the horrific attacks and praying for survivors and families of those lost. May God bring peace quickly. 🙏🏼
מגניב מאוד

Thank you for this new lesson! What does "hatuf" means (in kamets hatuf)?
snatched, taken quickly...
In grammar it means schwa-like...
למה רק חצי פסוק? ...עֵינָיו יֶחֱזוּ עַפְעַפָּיו יִבְחֲנוּ...
כדי שהכל יהיה קל להבנה...
