BTW the 919 EVO is an unrestricted version of LMP cars meaning it is much faster than the actual LMP cars they use during races. Still very impressive nonetheless, and makes me wonder what unrestricted F1 cars can do.
Get gran turismo and try out the redbull prototypes. They are designed by redbull as unrestricted F1 cars.

That's what (4 cylinder ) 1200 hp AWD engine does with unrestricted fuelflow and enough electric boost to send you from 200-300 kph in 2 sec.

Which restrictions would you get rid of?
No restriction would probably come down to how much g forces can a driver handle rather than actual machinery.
Mostly it would look something like the Red Bull X2010 or McLaren MP4-X. Both those are designed as "No limits" F1 cars.
Unlimited use of DRS will be enough. Ill be miles miles away from that car.

For Spa in 2020 the W11 also ran an extremely high downforce set up in anticipation of wet condition, so the top speed difference is going to be a little skewed.

That RB19 lap was done on a drying track so kinda hard to get a gauge where it would really be

I might be wrong (probably am) but wasn't the W11 in a less than optimum setup (high downforce) for a dry Qualy due to rain expectation? Regardless for me the engineering excellence goes to the W11 to beat an unrestricted arguably superior platform (enclosed wheels etc) is impressive.
Yes it was. It oozed lap in s1 and s3. A more optimal quali setup could've easily yielded another half second.
but also the drivers as well I would imagine - I presume Hamilton would be a better driver than the Porsche driver. Ham gapped Bottas by over half a second on this run - so if this was compared to Bottas' run - it would be faster.
One shouldn't forget that the 919 has almost 10 cm (4" inch) slimmer rear tires though. That's a lot less tread to glue on 😅

Gonna add that the 919 lap the track was not rubberee up like the w11 so it had less grip maybe 30% less.

Just checked. This was Max’s Q3 time on a dry track. By comparison, the sprint qualifying he was 3 seconds slower than this.
Don’t forget the above aero F1 cars had been developed for decades. These ground effect cars are still early in their development. By 2025, I imagine they’d be near the W11 time or even quicker.
Amazing that other cars of the current season are being termed as F2 in comparison to the RB19, here's the W11 that makes the RB19 look like an F2 car. What a monster!

@@Bahamuttiamat Either Formula Addict has access to inside telemetry that we don't have (which is unlikely), or they use track visual references purely from F1TV onboard like everyone else on youtube does, and if that's the case, certain amount of inaccuracies can't be avoided due to F1TV onboard having glitches all the time.

I think it’s mainly that the porsche was made with no rules, just to scrape every tenth available, while f1 cars have got a lot of restrictions on them. I wonder how a no rules f1 car would be like too.

It is insane that the Porsche was able to be way faster than the Red Bull being a Prototype, also, even if it lost against the W11, it's performance on track is still impressive
It is not because F1 cars have to follow a series of rules, even more now that they say they are trying to save fuel consumption. Now they ran with turbo charged v6, the v12 amd v10 of the past had a lot more top speed for instance. It is not that the F1 cars are trying to be the fastest car possible, only the fastest car possible according the rules they have.
Why speak of a prototype like it's inferior? It's more aero effiecent. It lost to the w11 do to the fact the track was not rubbered like unlike the w11 lap. So way less grip. And the drivers themselves said they are the limit.

Think! Max lost out on 50 entire points for nothing. Lewis finishing 2 more races than Max could only match the exact same points as Max. How is that making Max look slow?

the thing most people don't understand, is that the 919 Evo isn't a car made from the ground up, it's simply an OPTIMIZATION (probably the best they could make out of that 2014 project) for a hotlap of the 919 Hybrid, a car that HAS BEEN MADE for run 24h without a break.
The powertrain is actually the same of the Le Mans car, just without fuel restrictions and without the electric motor and total emergy per-lap limit.
The main aero parts have been optimised, bigger wing (that also has DRS, prohibited in LMP1 regulations), splitter, diffuser, and side skirts.
Weight has been reduced too, by approx 25kg over the omologated car, by removing headlights, air conditioning, etc.
But still, this so impressive cause it's an actual LMP1, but OPTIMISED for a hot lap!
It would be the same thing if you made the W11 run in the 24h of le mans, WITHOUT changing its parts, but simply by optimising those, and you obtain a car that's actually as fast as LMP1s, it would be a very, VERY hard task.
Useless to say, both are some of the best pieces of machinery ever made, and will be always remembered

You can bet a major part of the gap is down to Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton behind the wheel of the W11. He was actually 0.511 s faster than Valtteri that day.
Sir Lewi sHamilton is a beast. Not everyone realises this, and it makes me sad. If he really wanted that championship, he would get it. No matter the rival's car or anything else.

The accel of these LMP cars is insane....
This isn't really an LMP car, as it was rebuilt without adhereing to the LMP regulations. So it's lightter in weight, has more aero, more fuel injection, more hp and etc etc.. Imagine an F1 car with no fuel injection limit.

Despite the fact that he and the car were twenty years older, and on tires that weren't meant for the car, AND the engine was tuned down, he still came pretty damn close to the lap record... Well, not the 2021 lap record, but the 22 one.

The version made according to the regulations became the champion by almost destroying Toyota in 2017, while the Hybrid Evo is its modified version. So it's not completely unregulated.

They added a double DRS, that's front and rear DRS. Larger wings and added fixed-ride side skirts, removed aircon, removed jack, and other systems (e.g. lights), removed fuel flow limit and increased electric motor output. And specially made Michelin tyres to go for it. That's crazy.

The W11 was on a high downforce setting because the race was expected to be in the rain. W11 could've been fastest
919 evo was not on a rubbered up track far more less grip from that and worser driver. Could've been faster. Also less lap attempts.

The W11 was built on the pure dark arts of aerodynamics to a point that the people that built it have forgetten how to .... 6 seconds over the RB19 is hard to even comprehend
They're probably only good at making car without ground effect. After all, F1 hasn't allowed ground effect for around 4 decades. RB had Adrian Newey, who had experience building ground effect cars. Which gives redbull some advantage. Not denying Newey brain of course.
By the end of La Source corner I completely forgot a third car was there🤣🤣 2020 will forever be known as the greatest F1 spec era and cars won't ever go close to that fast and if they manage to do it, remember that the W11 never reached it's full potential with Merc stopping the upgrades mid way through the season
it really depends on the track, in this video they take spa wich is way better for fast straight line car, like the 919 evo, take the prosche on the hungaoring and it will be smashed even by the rb19. On specifical track were top speed matter like monza, spa, 24h of lemans, F1 lasvegas or the nurburgring (in the nurburgring there are also some corner but there is a 1km and a 2km straight line) but for most of the circuit around the globe, the f1 will be better that's why it is the pinnacle of motorsport (with rally).

To be fair, the Porsche set its lap time on a completely green track. That would be even worst than asking the W11 to set a track record during practice 1. We all know that a track ramps up faster throughout the weekend, and especially during qualifying when cars put down a lot of fresh rubber in the braking zones and apexes. Had the 919 Evo done its lap during the same qualifying session, it might have set a lap 1.5s faster, meanwhile had the W11 tried to set its lap time at the same green track, it would have gone 2s slower probably.
+ It's a le mans car. It's based on top speed, so that's why on spa it would obviously be slower

Thw w11 would be faster again . If I’m not mistaken setup wisely that weekend they had rain in the forecast (it never rained btw) .the w11 had a bigger rear wing so the car wasn’t on its perfect setup but you have a point and to some extent i can agree whit you

@@bobsquashv2742 as I said, the track wasn't 100% dry, so ALL of the cars went slower, that's why it isn't representative compared to other years, I took the laps from Britain, Hungary and Austria, both having around a 1.7-1.9s difference in favor of the W11, unless my maths are wrong but that isn't the point

but it also literally means Max has NO COMPEITION. That's how good someone can be - to have nobody else who could beat you.
I won't say Lewis is a bad driver. He is a good one, but the numbers (after years of great luck moving to the right team, and having some FIA help, to get those other 5 WDCs) are greatly overinflated.

idk if i'm wrong but i believe the 919 messed up in 0:57 because he might have taken the turn too tight and had to go into the out side and in turn losing time, if im right than that small mess up could have been the difference between the times with the w11 also it funny how irrelivent the RB19 despite how dominant it is now
