You can bet a major part of the gap is down to Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton behind the wheel of the W11. He was actually 0.511 s faster than Valtteri that day.
Sir Lewi sHamilton is a beast. Not everyone realises this, and it makes me sad. If he really wanted that championship, he would get it. No matter the rival's car or anything else.
I miss Mercedes (W11/12) and Ferrari (F1-75) being able to challenge Red Bull. At least it made the races thrilling and not just a battle for P2 and P3 lol
The W11 was built on the pure dark arts of aerodynamics to a point that the people that built it have forgetten how to .... 6 seconds over the RB19 is hard to even comprehend
They're probably only good at making car without ground effect. After all, F1 hasn't allowed ground effect for around 4 decades. RB had Adrian Newey, who had experience building ground effect cars. Which gives redbull some advantage. Not denying Newey brain of course.
Nice videos, I was wondering if it's possible to display time/distance intervals instead of the cronometer (which is only useful at the end to compare times).
This isn't really an LMP car, as it was rebuilt without adhereing to the LMP regulations. So it's lightter in weight, has more aero, more fuel injection, more hp and etc etc.. Imagine an F1 car with no fuel injection limit.
@@Jesko. I agree at all if Porsche gives this car a soft compound tyre like the C5 in Formula 1 and drives it by Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen. It would break the current lap record.
The version made according to the regulations became the champion by almost destroying Toyota in 2017, while the Hybrid Evo is its modified version. So it's not completely unregulated.
@@Jesko. I mean it has to be exempt from certain things in order for this video to be made, but it's basically still an LMP car and not produced completely without regulation.
They added a double DRS, that's front and rear DRS. Larger wings and added fixed-ride side skirts, removed aircon, removed jack, and other systems (e.g. lights), removed fuel flow limit and increased electric motor output. And specially made Michelin tyres to go for it. That's crazy.
The only comparison we can make is in SPA where the 919 EVO ran a time of 1:41.7 and the W11 ran a time of 1:41.25. It's very close but you have to consider that the 919 EVO is a Porsche 'skunkworks' project completely de restricted where as the W11 is FIA regulation compliant.
You do know it's more performance you can get out the lmp 1 than a f1 car right.A f1 car is not going to go no faster than a so called unrestricted f1 car.A f1 car is already at a disadvantage cause it's a open wheel car. It's not much more you can do with a f1 car.And if you do so called unrestrict a f1 car it will look like a lmp car.The driver of the 919 said himself that he was at his limit not the car.But you know what make this bad for f1 fans. They could of used pre 2015 lmp cars that was pushing 1000 hp and was a little lighter and gave them more aerodynamics.See the 919 evo is based off a restricted 919 lmp.But you f1 fans don't know that. They don't call lmp 1"labatories on wheels" for nothing.
@@PregnantSausageHow? He was beaten by Rosberg, even had the better car against Verstappen in 2021, who missed out 2 races of 25 points entirely (because of Merecedes' - but I won't go into that war). Lewis finishing 2 more races than Max could only match the exact same points as Max. How is that making Max look slow?
Damn. Now I'm wondering what would've happened had they not changed the layout since 2004, as I still think the f2004 would've had the lap record around here... even without slick tires! Speaking of which, Ralph did a few laps on slick tires in a 2003 williams - ruclips.net/video/RROmKNSLr2s/видео.html Despite the fact that he and the car were twenty years older, and on tires that weren't meant for the car, AND the engine was tuned down, he still came pretty damn close to the lap record... Well, not the 2021 lap record, but the 22 one.
To be fair, the Porsche set its lap time on a completely green track. That would be even worst than asking the W11 to set a track record during practice 1. We all know that a track ramps up faster throughout the weekend, and especially during qualifying when cars put down a lot of fresh rubber in the braking zones and apexes. Had the 919 Evo done its lap during the same qualifying session, it might have set a lap 1.5s faster, meanwhile had the W11 tried to set its lap time at the same green track, it would have gone 2s slower probably.
Thw w11 would be faster again . If I’m not mistaken setup wisely that weekend they had rain in the forecast (it never rained btw) .the w11 had a bigger rear wing so the car wasn’t on its perfect setup but you have a point and to some extent i can agree whit you
@DonLee1980 Don't you tire of spouting such fallacies? If the w11 was allowed to use active aero and drs outside of drs zones it would've been much faster through blanchimont and kemmel.
By the end of La Source corner I completely forgot a third car was there🤣🤣 2020 will forever be known as the greatest F1 spec era and cars won't ever go close to that fast and if they manage to do it, remember that the W11 never reached it's full potential with Merc stopping the upgrades mid way through the season
Lol track limits at 1:25. Lap time disqualified. In all seriousness though, that W11 is insanely fast, hard to imagine something being faster than the RB19 right now. Recency bias I guess, but Merc really dropped the ball with the new car design. Being that far off their own pace considering how far the RB19 is in this analysis, the W14 would be miles behind all three.
These current f1 regs the cars were always meant too be slower. The purpose was so they can follow better and get better racing. None of that has actually happened
It would be great to see both categories race against eachother, even with adaptations. LMP could pass on the straights, F1 could outbrake before corners. Several occasions each lap. Would make great racing!

He is a good one, but the numbers (after years of great luck moving to the right team, and having some FIA help, to get those other 5 WDCs) are greatly overinflated.
What you also have to remember is that the W11 was driven by HAM who drove it every weekend and dialled it in over a season, that 911 was awfully close to the fastest racecar ever made
Fun fact : Red Bull has found out in 2010 that the main limiting factor in an unrestricted Formula 1 type car isn't the technology, but the human factor. There's only so much consistent and continuous G-Force the human body can take. Look up the X-2010 design and all the reports and findings about the design.

Excellent video !
Fact : This not the WEC spec car, they tuned this car beyond the regulations to achieve this lap time
no shit... that's why it's called the 919 evo. I suspect the 2.4l v6 Toyota would have had a higher ceiling, to pump more power.
Great video! Love that you included both the W11 and the Rb19!!!
Definitely needed this
Nice videos, I was wondering if it's possible to display time/distance intervals instead of the cronometer (which is only useful at the end to compare times).

The accel of these LMP cars is insane....
This isn't really an LMP car, as it was rebuilt without adhereing to the LMP regulations. So it's lightter in weight, has more aero, more fuel injection, more hp and etc etc.. Imagine an F1 car with no fuel injection limit.

crazy top speed from the Porsche
The W11 was on a high downforce setting because the race was expected to be in the rain. W11 could've been fastest
919 evo was not on a rubbered up track far more less grip from that and worser driver. Could've been faster. Also less lap attempts.
@@Jesko. I agree at all if Porsche gives this car a soft compound tyre like the C5 in Formula 1 and drives it by Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen. It would break the current lap record.

@@Jesko. I mean it has to be exempt from certain things in order for this video to be made, but it's basically still an LMP car and not produced completely without regulation.
@@Jesko. Typical braindead F1 fanboy

Damn. Now I'm wondering what would've happened had they not changed the layout since 2004, as I still think the f2004 would've had the lap record around here... even without slick tires!
Speaking of which, Ralph did a few laps on slick tires in a 2003 williams - ruclips.net/video/RROmKNSLr2s/видео.html
Despite the fact that he and the car were twenty years older, and on tires that weren't meant for the car, AND the engine was tuned down, he still came pretty damn close to the lap record... Well, not the 2021 lap record, but the 22 one.
imagine running from the police in a 919 evo
To be fair, the Porsche set its lap time on a completely green track. That would be even worst than asking the W11 to set a track record during practice 1. We all know that a track ramps up faster throughout the weekend, and especially during qualifying when cars put down a lot of fresh rubber in the braking zones and apexes. Had the 919 Evo done its lap during the same qualifying session, it might have set a lap 1.5s faster, meanwhile had the W11 tried to set its lap time at the same green track, it would have gone 2s slower probably.
+ It's a le mans car. It's based on top speed, so that's why on spa it would obviously be slower

919 vs RB19 would be interesting
By the end of La Source corner I completely forgot a third car was there🤣🤣 2020 will forever be known as the greatest F1 spec era and cars won't ever go close to that fast and if they manage to do it, remember that the W11 never reached it's full potential with Merc stopping the upgrades mid way through the season
Looks like F1 cars prioritize cornering speeds
Yes it does.
919 evo = 1.8T downforce, 369 kmh
W11 = over 3T downforce, 342 kmh
Track limits were different at that time..😑
Gotta remember that F1 cars have a limit on their max speeds. If it was unrestricted, this would be pretty different I think.
The w11 is the fastest f1 car ever and has a top speed of 220 mph while the Porsche still has a better top speed at around 235
@@Cheese-k5f the f1 top speeds are capped by the regulations. Likely the vehicle can in fact go faster.

The W11 is the Dark Vader of the F1.
W11 didn't need a reason to go that hard. 😱
hamilton about the RB19: I've definitely never seen a car that fast. W11:
What you also have to remember is that the W11 was driven by HAM who drove it every weekend and dialled it in over a season, that 911 was awfully close to the fastest racecar ever made
Fun fact : Red Bull has found out in 2010 that the main limiting factor in an unrestricted Formula 1 type car isn't the technology, but the human factor. There's only so much consistent and continuous G-Force the human body can take. Look up the X-2010 design and all the reports and findings about the design. It was never built but there would be no point to a car no one could drive 100%.
So pretty much moral of the story, you can make a car that goes faster on a straight, but nothing is going to beat a F1 car in the corners
