When guys are allowed to set their own characters, to pick and craft their gimmicks, they bring an authenticity to it that’s almost always compelling. One of my favorites on the mic is Eddie Kingston: you never know when he’s working or shooting. And it doesn’t always have to be pure talking skill; some people’s in-ring work is how they connect with the audience. But let your talent BE talented. Let em loose and watch em work. That’s how you get the audience to buy in, and when they buy in they buy tickets.
