Good looking area, good looking hikers, good sound. You videos of this area always make me homesick for California and the Eastern Sierras. Thanks for taking us along to enjoy the beauty.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures I have to say I prefer the natural sounds. But with Catherine's photography, choice of hiking areas, and personality, they are all good!
Hello Catherine, I just came across your video from July of 2026. The Eastern Sierras are so beautiful. Each season has its own unique beauty. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful videos. Always be safe out there and, of course, have fun. 🤗
The Sierra really are so beautiful. I enjoy them in all seasons. There is really no off season for the Sierra. Even in winter there's skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing or snow camping if you're really brave. lol Thank you!
Thank you for making this! This is one of the best if not the best video of the way up to ruby! I go backwards with my family every year, it’s what we look forward to every year. And it’s nice to have a video to look at and have great memories
My God how spectacular!!! You do a wonderful job on all your videos! I’m envious of you living in CA as I live in FL where there isn’t even a hill to climb... at least I can watch your gorgeous videos and imagine I’m there. Thanks Catherine...
Little Lakes Valley is probably one of the most beautiful areas in the Sierra and is easily accessible which makes it very popular. I haven't done this one this season or last season. I think I'm due to go back. Thank you Loran!
We do get more sunny days than you do up there to be sure. When I was in the Sierra's a few weeks back, the thunderheads rolled in out of nowhere and it started raining when the forecast called for no rain. The mountains create their own weather. Thanks for watching!
Great video Catherine :) I particularly enjoyed the music you put in this video, especially the song that started the video :) Nice choice ;) I remember that Jerky stand off of 395 :)
Thank you John. I really enjoy using music by my favorite artists. Unfortunately, I have quit doing that as I was having trouble with copyright issues. My videos would sometimes be "muted". That can still happen with these that are still up on my channel. It can be up for years and then one day muted. I use all royalty free/copyright free music now. Kind of a bummer.
Great video. I was there last year and reached Gem Lakes which is spectacular. Going up in a month and hope to reach Treasure lakes which is near Gem. This is really the best kept secret in the Sierras.
Thank you Cornelius! Do you think you'll have any issues getting in there with the snow pack? I actually have a backpacking trip scheduled there towards the end of June. I was wondering if I'll be able to do it. I've heard great things about the lakes further in.
I sure hope so. We are heading up the day after Father's day but the pictures I've seen recently and the recent snow do damper my spirits. But hey, at least the lake and creek will be open for fishing!!
Considering how much snow is still up there, those upper trails may be blocked for passage. I'm hoping to at least get a couple miles past Rock Creek Lake.
The audio levels were off on my playback... the background music was competing with your narration making it hard to make out what you were saying. Nobody else's mentioned it so it must be just me. Lovely location, thanks for sharing it.
Thank you for watching a couple of my videos. This is another older one. Two years ago. I feel like I’ve progressed and make better videos now. I almost can’t watch these old ones myself. I have a new one of this same hike. I have added a small amount of ambient music mostly because the trail was very crowded and there were voices from other hikers throughout. I do feel it’s done in a more tasteful way than on these older videos.
Hello Mrs Gregory, this is one of the best overviews of this hike ive seen, its hard to find ones like this especially with the good camera work, I know it takes time to set the camera down and walk by and go back to get it but it adds to the flow of the vid. respect.
I will be there in about 3 weeks and I can't wait to do this hike! I found two other hikes that are supposed to rival this one for scenery without being that strenuous. First is the 20 Lakes Basin hike by Saddlebag Lake. If you take the boat across the lake, the loop is only about 5.5 miles. www.hikingwalking.com/destinations/ca/ca_ses/lee_vining/20_lakes_basin thepathlessbeaten.com/2012/12/13/return-to-20-lakes-basin/#more-586 Second is the Bennettsville Mine/Spuller Lake Trail near Tioga Lake in Yosemite. I just found out about this yesterday. littleadventures-jg.blogspot.com/2013/08/hiking-on-lesser-known-trails-near.html kevingong.com/Hiking/200907ShellLake.html
You will absolutely love it! I would definitely suggest starting out early. We went on a Sunday at started out at 7:30 AM. There were still parking spaces at the trailhead parking lot and a lot less people on the trail. By the time we were headed back to the car at about noon...the main parking was full and way more people were heading out. Thank you for the links! All the research I've done and missed these two somehow. I'm particularly interested in the 20 Lakes Basin hike. It looks incredible. Keep me posted on what you thought when you return! I'll be doing an over night backpacking trip to Steelhead Lake from McGee Creek next month. Really looking forward to sleeping in the backcountry again instead of a campground. It's not easy to get wilderness permits on weekends.
I'm going Aug. 4-8 and driving up from the Bay Area, so I'll need a day or two to get acclimated to the altitude. So, I may not get around to this hike until the weekend. I've heard it is maybe the most popular trail head in the Sierras (must mean outside of Yosemite!), so I've heard from other sources that the lot fills up early. I may even try the 20 Lakes Basin hike if I have time. I definitely want to do the Sabrina Lake to Blue Lake hike. I'm sure you'll like Steelhead Lake. You can't go wrong with any of those canyons! I found some more links for interesting things to do in the area if you have a few hours: 1. You are so right! You can't go wrong. Thanks so much for sharing the links! I would love to check out the petroglyphs. I had no idea they were there. I'm surprised I haven't seen them photographed more.
Becuz of this video it inspired me to go camping lol so now I got a campsite at French campground 🙂 and I’m planning on doing this hike in a few weeks, do you think there will be snow ? I love your videos !
Hi Vee! That's awesome!! Thank you so much. There will most likely still be snow up that high in a few weeks. It doesn't usually open up until mid June at the earliest. Little Lakes Valley sits above 9,000 ft., so the snow sticks around a lot longer. Try going to the June Lake Loop. There are 4 lakes and I know the road is open. Also, you can explore the Mammoth area.
You seemed to have a great time and you did a great job with your new camera. I liked the video and stills too. You always pick great music as well. What are your thoughts on your new camera gear? I'm looking forward to more from you in 2017.
This was a fun trip. I wish I could have hiked in a bit further, but we were pressed for time. There are a few other lakes beyond the last one where we turned around. I am so happy with my purchase of the new gear. It is perfect for backpacking and vlogging and takes amazing stills. I do sometimes wish I had a wider range as it is a fixed lens and 24mm is as wide as it gets. It'll tighten to 70mm. I can deal with that though in exchange for my comfort level on trail. I am itching to get back out there. It'll be sooner rather than later. haha Thanks for watching!
Awesomeness 👍
Hi Cat, beautiful scenery. It looks like a great hike and you and Julie had a good time.
Good looking area, good looking hikers, good sound. You videos of this area always make me homesick for California and the Eastern Sierras. Thanks for taking us along to enjoy the beauty.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the music selection
Thank you!
Beautiful area to hike.
It's very beautiful! Thanks for watching.
Great.
Like, like, like, a hundred times!
Thank you a hundred times!! 😀
Awesome video. Amazing scenery!
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed it. It is an incredible spot in the Sierras. Thank you for watching and for your comment.
Another great adventure. Nice shots of all the wild flowers. I love the mountains, lakes and the sound of running water. Thanks again.
This is one of my favorite easy and easily accessible hikes in the Sierra. It's jam packed with beauty, too.
Lovely! you lay down great sound tracks. Never too loud. Country folk, some classic rock. Slick stuff.
Thank you Gary!

Been looking at the older video's, you have not changed much.

I love that hike, camped many times with my parents and brother as a youngster at mosquito flats. Great place, great memories!
Beautiful at every turn!
The eastern Sierras really are great! I go every year with my family. Great video!
Nice Editing!
Thank you.
Brilliant. Loving your videos.
Thank you so much Don!
Fantastic job of catching the sure beauty of the area with your new camera. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks so much Double D! I'm really happy with the camera. I appreciate you watching.

very beautiful
Little Lakes Valley is one of my favorite areas up there. It is gorgeous!
Spectacular; I'm so jealous of your predictable weather down there. Sunshine guaranteed every day.

Great video. Planning on doing that trail in early June. Stunning views.
Glad you enjoyed the video Miguel. You will absolutely love it! It's a very popular trail, but for good reason. Every bit of it is stunning! Enjoy.

Keep me posted on what it's looking like up there. Still have a sliver of hope I can pull it off at the end of June. Good luck to you!
Cornelius Walker, Did you reach Gem Lake? going to try late September.
It looks like you two had a nice trip.
Indeed we did. Thanks for watching.
