  • Today we take a look at the TC Helicon Gaming announcement of the GoXLR mic and the GoXLR cable and I give my thoughts on the topic and hope to open a discussion about it.

Mic will be $149 MAP and cable will be $35 MAP.
Remains to be seen how it stacks up to a Podmic, PD-70 or other ~$100 dynamic mic. (These prices are from TCH directly)
Also, I have to point out that you stated that "dynamic mics are better at canceling background noise". While dynamics generally fair better in most environments than condensers do, they don't actually do anything to "cancel" background noise. Statements like this from content creators create an illusion that folks can buy a dynamic mic and suddenly they don't have to woory about their dog barking in the hallway anymore. Then those same folks are angry when the dog does in fact get picked up by the mic.
I don't mean to come across as rude, but it's important for folks to have realistic expectations of their gear :-)
I own a Podmic, Procaster, SM57, and various other mics. I'll have a GO XLR mic this Tuesday (would have been earlier this week if UPS wasn't so backed up). Will have a pretty good idea of how it stacks up in a few days :-)
Otherwise, solid video, camera and audio were excellent!!

Yeah would love to see direct comparison to the podmic in terms of quality and price, but thanks fot the added info and the clarification.

Did you get the mic. How is it compared to the pod mic?

@@Rhetri I have one, sound wise it's fairly similar to the Podmic. The biggest issue I have with it is it's bump rejection is not great. The internal shock mount in the Podmic is superior in everyway.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wonder if you can easily shock mount the XLR mic
