I was there in "97" and when you came into Redwood City I didn't recognise it as it has been built up sinse then . And it good to see they are doing the electrification work .
I was an engineer on this route when Amtrak operated the system, thanks for sharing nice to see the line and how it looks now, don’t live in SF anymore, been gone since 2011.
@@gianyd1886 Well I had to retire, but there is no state income tax, some of the small things that make it a nice state to live in, though I left CA because I was tired of it after 41yrs there, in SF alone. More people are moving to the state, as long as where I’m at stays below 65k for the whole county that’s cool, right now it’s around 55k. If I were still working for Amtrak, I would have enough seniority to work out of Reno to Winemucca (sic) and back, but as mentioned had to retire due to medical issues related to a work injury. All in all it’s been good living here.
The electrification seems to be taking forever. Or is this an older video? Either way I feel they could realistically already have put poles up along the entire route by now.
Caltrain is performing preliminary grade separation work for 25th Ave, which will close Hillsdale station for six months while the work is completed and the station is rebuilt. The station is closing on May 6 of this year.
Now this line is covered in glorious catenary poles and in the future, electrification catenary! How awesome!

I really love the horn on this cab car (4023) especially when it's at fast speed, the horn sounds accurate
There is a train that goes from San Carlos to San Mateo now, it is the L4
You are correct
2 of my favorite things BATN finally did! Ride CalTrain and visit the Mountain View station!

Where do you live now?
@@gianyd1886 Carson City, NV, pretty close to the State RR Museum.
@@straightto8 Not so really far. Is it better to live there? Of is it because of taxes or so?

Hillsdale 26:08
At the start of the video, I wonder if that is materials for the electrification project.
Lots of electrification stuff at: 28:55
Those are definitely the bases for catenary poles at Mountain View.

This was filmed on February 14, 2020.
@Jon Falkenburg They'll be around to service the Gilroy line for a while longer.
26:16 what is being built on the left? I‘m curious because I am European and a Railfan

Grade Separation Construction for the new Hillsdale, and it opened on April 26th 2021
Good video, I would suggest trying a time lapse version to make it quicker
I like using the 2x feature on RUclips
Working on it.
