Jake is the first rod builder in the USA to build what I call the perfect 2 handed fly rod for the Surf. As such he has made me two Sage Igniter Spey rods. Go to the Sage web site for the history and specs on the Igniter. Last Sunday I had two fly fishermen use this rod who happen to be rod builders they said Jake made a one of a kind Spey rod for the Surf ! After a day trip with me they caught Snook and after the first cast went online and bought two Sage Igniter blanks to build of Jake's design.
Jake took my specs on how I wanted my rods built and as a result created the best 2 handed fly rod that I own. The advantages are truly amazing !

Very nicely built rod, but accuracy is caster dependant (good tracking).
Great clip, body language looks stiff, and still the system does the work, room to improve absolutely, a more realistic demo would help also, up front in surf conditions and play a bit on a head wind.

I'm with you on 2-handed overhead casting. Have you tried the Meiser 909CX rods? Much shorter than what you are throwing but with the right lines it can toss a big fly. What line weights are you using with that rod? Impressed how you shoot line between your fingers before you let it loose. Not as easy as you make it look! Tips?
Just don't confuse this with anything Spey.

I've just been using my fighting butt as a handle this whole time like a pleb, I need to get a real spey rod at some point for salmon and stripers
What lines have a 13ft 8wt
What line you throwing?
What weight and length of your rod?
Not concerned about anything about but his casting till he hurts a passing cars or someone walking by.
In 13 yrs of fishing that spot I have not hit anyone yet. I see everything as you can see. Do you fish with a Spey rod ? Probably not. Tight lines to you best of luck.
