WWE conquers Fanatics Fest with fan support, superstars pay it forward
Cody Rhodes showcased what it really means to be “the people’s champion” when he broke auction rules at Fanatics Fest and gave a child a free autographed belt.
WWE Champion Cody Rhodes proved at Fanatics Fest Sunday at the Javits Center why he could be the nicest guy in pro wrestling by breaking the rules.
Taking the stage with the championship slung over his shoulder to a massive standing ovation, Rhodes was one of a slew of WWE superstars who joined a live auction over the weekend inside of the Jacob Javits Center during Fanatics Fest that saw him sign merchandise.
“WWE is currently the most popular it has ever been,” Rhodes said. “A considerable amount of that has to do with the bloodline and Roman Reigns. There are people who think that forces cannot co-exist in the show, that’s crazy. WWE’s roster is the best that it has ever been.”

Michael Rubin and Fanatics CEO of Events Lance Fensterman were aiming for something more. The final verdict is that the first-ever Fanatics Fest was a jaw-dropping success. The hit of the show was the WWE walkway. It was electric. To see so many people immersed in an installation and singing and chanting in unison was pure spectacle. When fans made an entrance to their favorite wrestlers’ theme song, cheered on by the crowd waiting for their turns, it felt like a concert.
WWE fans brought a certain passion to the Javits Center. They bought replica championship belts, sold out the wrestler autograph and photo sessions, and chanted the day away.

The three-day show, featuring more than 400,000 square feet of show-floor space, was held Aug. 16-18 at New York City’s Javits Center and is designed to bring together sports fans and collectors in a pop culture event similar to Comic-Con. The show will feature interactive activities, multiple stages and theaters, exclusive merchandise, product drops, major announcements, and more to celebrate sports fans and collectors.
The event will be headlined by such big names as: seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady; two-time NBA Champion Kevin Durant; NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning; two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning; MLB Hall of Famer Derek Jeter; WNBA superstar Sabrina Ionescu; WWE Legend Hulk Hogan; and such hobby entrepreneurs and celebrities as Gary Vaynerchuk.
Along with a 2,500-seat main stage that will serve as a backdrop for numerous activities and content programs, Fanatics Fest NYC will feature more than 400,000 square feet of show floor space for vendors and corporate booths for such prominent sports leagues and brands as the NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, UFC, WWE, Fanatics, Topps, Mitchell & Ness, Lids, PWCC Marketplace, Fanatics Sportsbook and Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), with many more to be added.
Fanatics Events just wrapped up its first large-scale show, WWE World at WrestleMania, a five-day festival in Philadelphia that became the highest-grossing and most-attended fan event in WWE history.
