Stephanie Vaquer is off to a hot start in WWE. Vaquer exited CMLL and news quickly broke that she signed with the worldwide leader of professional wrestling, WWE. Vaquer made her victorious debut on a weekend house show tour of Mexico. The first WWE footage of Vaquer is the long walk to the locker room from Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Saturday night, July 13, 2024. After Vaquer defeated Isla Dawn, the Chilean addressed her Mexican fanbase in Spanish. It is a dream come true and an honor for her to become part of the WWE family. International star Stephanie Vaquer dominated the headlines when it was announced that she was abruptly leaving Mexican promotion CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling. After a heralded performance against Mercedes Moné at AEW’s Forbidden Door, most assumed she would become All Elite. Instead, she quickly signed with WWE and made her in-ring debut with the company during its tour of Mexico last weekend.On the latest edition of K100 with Konnan & Disco Inferno, Harry Ruiz, a sports reporter and Spanish-language radio announcer for the Las Vegas Raiders, shared his insight on Vaquer’s decision to join WWE.According to his sources, Ruiz said AEW had a significant offer for Vaquer and was close to closing the deal. Vaquer allegedly returned to Mexico intending to sign with AEW until WWE became aware of AEW’s offer. That’s when someone at the top of NXT reached out to her. That being The Heartbreak Kid. Publicly, Shawn Michaels was the first to welcome Vaquer to WWE, writing on X, “Welcome to the WWE Family, Steph_Vaquer. See you in Orlando!”
Ruiz also mentioned an alleged incident that might have influenced Vaquer’s decision to sign with WWE over AEW. In a story similar to CM Punk’s experience at All In in London, Ruiz said, “I heard something similar happened at Forbidden Door - she wasn’t picked up from the airport and had to find her own way.”Last year, there was a rumor that AEW didn’t have anyone meet Punk at the airport when he arrived for the company’s big debut in London. Punk confirmed that story earlier this year while speaking with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, calling it “completely irresponsible as a company to leave someone stranded at the airport.”Vaquer was victorious in her WWE in-ring debut against Isla Dawn in Mexico City. After the match, she addressed the fans, saying it was a dream come true and an honor for her to become part of the WWE family.
