Decluttering and purging with intent to sell my house by end 2023 and that will give me substantial $$ for investing. Been fully retired 8 years Retirement $$ comfortable and only bring 2 suitcases. Scouted SMA and planning scouting fall trip to Portugal. Getting OUTTA here end 2023.
I have downsized and gotten rid of most of my belongings. Now I am working on eliminating my debt and working for a year to save money so I can travel or work abroad. ALso, I am working on emotional healing and childhood trauma... WHEW its a lot of work but well worth it!
I intend to walk away from my student loans on June 2nd. Walking all the way to Mexico City with my remote job 😭😭 in all seriousness I realized it would be easier to pay down my debt once I cut my rent in half. Thanks for all the work you do ❤️

Stop buying more stuff! In Marrakesh I had to keep reminding myself not to buy stuff because it would be counterproductive to my move to MX. It wasn't easy!
I have never got into the habit of buying things when I travelled. Owning unnecessary stuff is not only a waste of money, it’s a burden to leave all that junk behind for your family to get rid of when you exit this world.
All very solid advice Adalia! By the end of 2024, I will have all consumer debt paid off. 2025 is when I will started traveling again internationally for longer periods with the kiddo 🙏

Hello Adalia! I needed to see this today! Thank you for breaking things down. As a former ex-pat ( soon to be 2024 forever ex-pat) the taking action ( and not just giving lip service) part has been the hardest. I'm telling myself I can take smaller steps if I need to not overwhelm myself.
Top tier advice. Thank you. I took my nails off because they are a couple hundred dollar expense a month…if they break, that more money to get it repaired. Plus those As.ians places are not clean and don’t give AF about Black women. Why continue to pay them and risk your health in their unclean mail shops. My husband and I are in our journey…it will take a couple of years, but we’re committed.
Agreed that why stopped going to their hair stores cause they act like we going to steal. And like you said the nail prices are ridiculous and unsanitary. Besides, they always talking their crude sounding language in front of you.

I cleaned out my storage closet a couple of months ago. My goal is to downsize my closet even more. I have way too many clothes and shoes. I only have student loans and a mortgage. My mortgage balance is less than $39k and it is being taken care of. Savings is good. Really, the only thing I haven't figured out is the income because I can't take my current source of income with me.
This is exactly what i needed in my stage of researching, preparing, and planning with leaving the NOT united states (I'll quit using that phrase soon haha) Outside fasting and praying to get my 👍🏾/green light from Abba/God, I'm past talking about it haha. I hold on to my physical things (moving from oklahoma to alabama last year was my biggest move) BUT this past saturday i got a big part of my LR already filling up fast with everything I'm giving away and donating. Last week i watched you talk about a no spending challenge. I started the next payday and have savings building already between my 2 incomes (im a disabled air force veteran). Debt: i have next to no debt. No mortgage, my car is paid for but I'll let that sucker go if i land somewhere i can walk everywhere. No student loan no personal loans no CCs. I started out thinking this might happen 3 to 5 years from now but I'm now looking at the fall of 2025 timeframe after i finish Rock College, but right before my 51st birthday!
I've been thinking and strategizing since the beginning of this year. Unfortunately I can't leave as of now because of school obligations so I've come up with a 5 year exit plan. I'll leverage my nursing degree to live as a nomad because I can't with this place anymore. All of these facebook groups and podcasts like yours have been so inspiring/motivational though. I'm def going to be about it hence the planning.

Definitely look into income based repayment before you go. If you can get that you can wait them out AND get to keep your money.
