Nothing wrong with the inline six , six in a row built to tow , so glad they went different to everyone else’s v6 engines, I think a v8 as a option would be a good thing for people to choose from.

For me it's concerning as to why the engine is getting so hot that it requires that much shielding..... When I took one out for a drive, it was getting roughly 3 to 4 liters per 100kms better on average than the hemi
@@Highaltitude45what heat shielding specifically are you referring to? I haven’t looked up close to one of these yet and can’t see much from engine shots here in this video or pictures elsewhere of under the hood.
Just a thought here.. The Ram classic is gone but sold well. The company had the tool and die set and it was a cash cow. The other manufacturers should take note and keep previous generation models and price them well under a new model to give people a choice who just want a simple pickup and don't care for the latest and greatest and most expensive trim levels. You'd see a resurgence in sales and A Trust from your customer base. It's not like they're spending much money in tooling and research and development. Keep 2 lines going and they'll keep the money flowing.
They make more profit only making expensive trucks than they would by adding a budget option. As long as people with money or willing to finance buy the expensive builds, that will be there focus, and it seems there are still plenty of those people based on the dealerships around me still having trouble getting enough trucks to meet demand and adding markups as a result. If you want cheaper trucks, start by getting the country to stop shoveling all our money to the top 20% that turn around and buy trucks with it like it’s just pocket change.
It will take time to know if it’s reliable with proof, but it may not be unreliable just because it’s unrefined. It may have one or two known bugs to work out that requires having a dealership make modifications to existing engines like the original 3.5 EcoBoost, but it may just be simple warrantee fixes which do not impair the vehicle (like a vibration that doesn’t hurt but needs a fix to go away) and it may be rock solid once that warrantee work is completed. Regardless, we won’t know one way or another just how durable and reliable it is until it makes it 10 years without significant issues, just like all other engines. Unfortunately, most engines seem to get discontinued in less than 10 years due to shifting politics and technology, so by the time we know it’s bulletproof, we can’t actually get it in a new vehicle.
Was an iconic engine. It had it's issues also but proved to be very reliable . They also offered a ho version if I remember correctly they used in the commanchie
Ya the recently resigned stellantis ceo totally f up the introduction of this engine. They should have brought out that ram rev hybrid, 3.0 hurricane and kept the hemi as a 3rd engine option. That way it wouldn’t have been suck a “shocker” to ram buyers, kept the epa happy at the same time.
I don’t think the EPA would be happy until the average emissions for RAM drops significantly, and continuing selling the Hemi would prevent that. The RAMcharger range extender 1500 still isn’t ready, so they would have to delay the Hurricane until it was and that would just make things with the EPA worse.
The hurricane is NOT "better in every way". The hemi is a cast iron block, it can take a beating and was used in the 2500's for years. Notice how Stellantis is not putting the hurricane in the 2500, eh? There is a reason for that, called "duty cycle" and the twin turbo simply flops there. The hemi is a strong engine, that's proven. Secondly, the decision to remove the hemi was not forced on them like you and everybody else keeps saying; Tavares made that call, but he didn't HAVE to. They could have kept the hemi around (with the hurricane) and charged extra for it to help offset the cost. It was simply an irrational choice he made, wanting to force the company to meet some unattainable target for emissions and MPG and clearly he didn't think too hard about the fact that losing customers is far worse for the brand than paying a little more to Tesla and developing a new, modern v8. Notice how the second Tavares left and Kuniskis came back, so has the hemi (apparently), even if only for a few years while they work on a new v8.
If the 5.7 was such a good engine, they wouldn’t have removed it from the 2500. Perhaps the Hurricane is just as capable in the 2500 as the 5.7, but for the same reason the 5.7 was removed long ago, they don’t want to put the Hurricane in. Until we can compare 1000 10 year old Hemi engines to 1000 10 year old Hurricane engines, no one can claim which engine is more durable.
The main issue with the hemi 5.7 was the tick, and some mechanics have suggested that the tick is caused from too much idling time and the mds system that shuts off cylinders for “fuel economy “ and its the number 4 cylinder that ticks because of the fact that not enough oil is moving through the engine at idle so if your every day mechanic figured this out why didn’t stellantis fix it and they would keep their customers happy and bring in new customers? I’ve got a’19 ram 1500 with the hemi and it started ticking with 165k miles on the odometer and the only time I idled it was for warming up other than that I shut it off even if for a minute or two and I now have a power wagon with the 6.4 v8 and with no issues yet after putting 11k miles on it with a total of 66k as a 2019 year model with 55k when I bought it in October two months ago great motor and truck I paid just a tad bit over $50k after taxes and service contract with 125k mile bumper to bumper warranty
@Cloud30000 The 5.7 was removed from the 2500 because of the power (or lack of it); compared to GM and Ford offerings it was not competitive, even the 6.4 is no longer competitive. But they're both very reliable and have the strength required for HD trucks. The hurricane? It would implode.
@@ck1abe515 MDS is not an issue in lifter failure, even hemis without MDS get lifter failure. The hemis don't have an oil flow problem either, that's just more RUclips nonsense.

If money is no object, I’d go with any of the big 3 in 3/4 ton form with their respective gasser powertrains. 6.4, 6.6 and 7.3 are all potent so just depends on specific features or design details you want.
I actually think the 2024 RAM Limited with the 5.7 Hemi is the most luxurious truck (interiors and drive quality wise) I’ve been in, but it really suffers in the payload and towing department as a result. The last year of the 5.7 has the most solid design incorporating lessons learned from previous years, and if you add Lubegard Biotech to each oil change, you will never see Hemi tick. All HD’s will have a harsher ride, which goes against the idea of luxury, and the limited\highest luxury HD trims are always a downgrade from the highest 1/2 ton trims, mainly because they focus on selling the 1/2 ton top trims to people used to driving Cadillacs and Escalades that expect the same level of luxury. Note that the more luxury you get, the more things that can go wrong and thus the lower the reliability. You always sacrifice some reliability to get more tech and luxury.
RAM does not do Quality Assurance like a luxury brand. “B” level at best. Lots of minor but annoying software glitches exist that they don’t fix. Ask me how I know… :(
