Just 3 weeks ago I sold my 2013 GMC Duramax dually with 250k miles. Only problems I had were related to the ridiculous emissions system. Otherwise it was a great truck that I used as a daily driver and to pull a 5th wheel toy hauler. I decided to get a 2024 AT4 HD but went with the gas for a few reasons: 1. $10k less, 2. It’s now mated to the Allison, 3. I sold the camper and not towing anything heavy, 4. not having to deal with DEF and the overly complicated emissions system. I’m happy with it so far.
I hope you get your issues worked out. These new trucks have the potential to be really good.

I bought a new 2023 GMC Sierra HD Duramax in November. Rear window leaked, after fighting the dealership service department it was eventually replaced just to have the new rear slider window leak as well. At 1500 miles began hearing a distinct irregular tick from the lower back of the engine. Dealer service tech claimed not to hear anything unusual. The park assist randomly shuts off while driving which disables the sensors. It would only come back on after shutting the truck off and letting it sit for a few minutes. Noticed gear oil leaking from the pinion seal on the rear differential. Just shy of 2800 miles, traded it for a new 2023 Ford F-350 PSD. Not saying Ford makes a problem free vehicle, but I’ve never had a list of issues like that with any of my past Ford trucks. That GMC can be someone else’s problem now.

You just went into the frying pan!! Debating to go back all dmax. My 2022 ford f450 lariat has had 3 sets of tires in 9k miles (finally got that fixed), fuel tank leaked at the seams, lower oil pan leaked, now its in for a upper oil pan. This Isa 10-15k job, you have to remove the cab, transmission and motor to do this. Only at 22k. Priced it at a small shop for out of warranty work and it's 8k to replace the gasket. Probably the worse designed truck on the road! Also, my transmission will get hard downshift and put in limp mode. Forgot my rear door started binding as well so that's getting fix now as well.
My 2022 f350 with 8k miles driven as a car has a weird vibration in the gas pedal like something is loose. Also felt in the steering wheel.
My f450 has been at shop now for 2 weeks, they say it will be another 5-6 weeks till its fixed.
      Then my f350 goes in.

And the reason that I'm here is researching for major problems in the early stages of the sierra 2500, im in the market for HD trucks and it's only GMC vs f250.

The reduced power mode issue happened to me on my 2022 Silverado High Country. It ended up being a loose pin on a connector. Took the dealership 3 days to fix and never had an issues after that. I replaced that truck with a 2024 AT4 HD3500. It came with some pretty big issues about a week after I bought it. The upper glove box latch has a service bulletin repair that you need to have done. Exhaust leaking into the cab, cracked manifold tube, trailer brake controller malfunctions (discovered this while towing a trailer through the mountains - not fun). And now I have read that there is a service bulletin on the roof cracking. That one's a HUGE repair.

I am no financial expert, but if I were a gambling investor I would focus on Ram for the long term. The transmission is not normal. But the upper oil pan leak is. They will have to drop your transmission and front end. And reseal the front timing cover and upper oil pan. The lower oil pan will be replaced. Jim doesn’t use enough silicone at the factory and it’s very common to have this issue. I have had my 2024 GMC AT4 3500 diesel since April. By far the best HD truck I have owned, and this is my 4th HD truck. The only issue is the tire sensors for my trailer will not stay connected to the truck's sensor module for display. It tows like a madman!! This is the only HD truck I have owned that I would say is a keeper!!. This time around, I looked really hard at the Dodge HD trucks, it just could not compare and the ride was awful, just awful. Very happy with my decision to get this truck.

Purchased a 2024 GMC 2500 with the Duramax in Jun '23. Had been a Ford guy forever but liked the look of the GMC's.
At around 1,000 miles the check engine light came on. Soon after that the airbag warning light came on. We were just leaving on a trip to Colorado with our RV. Dealership had me come in and they cleared the codes and said must have been a "software glitch". While on the trip the warning lights came on again. Not a good feeling so far from home and pulling an RV in the mountains!
Long story short after three trips back to dealership and almost a month total in a loaner vehicle they finally got it ironed out. Service department claimed to have found where a battery leaked into a wiring harness.
QC is not what it used to be, and I'm hearing similar stories with a lot of new vehicles, not just GMC.
Truck now has 10K on it and (knock on wood) has been mechanically sound - runs, drives and pulls great.
There are some quirks with it though, including a rattle/ vibration behind the dash that's very annoying and I can't pinpoint. Turning up the radio is the only fix at this time. Outside mirrors rattle bad on a bumpy road, the Alexa app talks to us unprompted, and don't ever forget to take your hitch out if you use that Multipro tailgate step. What idiot engineers designed that?
Hope you get your issues lined out.

I bought a 2023 1500 AT4 LZO Duramax four weeks ago, and after the first 10 days 400 miles I was left stranded on I-4 heading back to Tampa. The EGT sensor went out and seized up my engine. Had to have the truck towed in and waited a week to get a new EGT sensor. Needless to say I’m very disappointed in this truck so far and have been left a very bad taste in my mouth over the whole issue. I’m so sorry you’re having problems with your GMC AT4, I noticed that every truck company has a bad lemon here and there, I’ve watched videos like this on the Ford F2 50s and Dodge TRX and Ford Raptors and I’d have to say that there’s very very few with GMC your trucks, I think you just got a bad lemon and I feel like when that happens they should out your truck with a new one. Specially it only got 400 miles on it, but I know they won’t, but they should. I have a. AT4 1500 with 67,000 miles on it and I’m super happy and impressed. I hope you get it figured out after $88,000. You deserve to have problem free truck for at least 150,000 miles.

I hotshot and i bought a 2019/2020 1ton put some hard ass miles on it no issues traded at 120k in milage. Brought a 2022 3500 SRW only had it about a year with 60k on the clock currently it's been ran hard as hell as well with no issues what's so ever and just put in a order for a AT4X HD. I'm not sure what the hell some of you guys are doing to get these issues with your trucks? But i guess there's factory duds out there just like there is solid factory gems you keep forever with no issues. Hate to hear about your new truck brotha i promise GM has a great platform hopefully they'll get it fixed..

Totally understand your frustration but you are only making yourself more frustrated by relying on your dealer to fix it without doing your own due diligence first.
    1. The front sensors are obviously the issue. This could literally be the wiring harness going to the bumper isn’t seated all the way - not a big deal, just check it.
    2. The leaking - just put a damn socket on them both and make sure everything is torqued to spec. Who cares if it’s under warranty? It’s a matter of minutes.
    3. The deleting of the DPF/EGR - don’t wait until it’s out of warranty, you are only doing damage by waiting. Just keep all the parts and never get rid of them. The most that will happen is they will give you 30-60 days to return the vehicle to stock - BIG DEAL.
    4. The interior is what it is and that should have been addressed during delivery if it bothered you that much although there isn’t much they will do for it.
Some of these might be really simple fixes that you can handle quicker than your dealer can. Instead of making a video complaining about it, just attempt to fix it. I agree that no new vehicle should have issues, especially a top tier truck like this. I’ve bought three brand new trucks since 2019 because of serious issues that nobody wanted to do anything about. One of those trucks was a 2020 GMC 2500HD Denali Duramax that I absolutely hated because of major issues, not piddly things like you are describing. If you love the truck minus these small issues, just get them taken care of and move forward. Nothing you described is considered major at all.

Right on! 90k is a lot to have such bs happen out of the gate 😑 I don’t make videos like this to complain rather educate people more so on financial decisions that they will better understand the possible outcomes on more than a sales person or commercial will .. I appreciate the constructive criticism as if we were just like talking over a beer and sharing our thoughts on the subject

Same question here, I have a 2024 high country silverado 2500HD and it's at the dealer for a trans fluid leak. Also where the xfer case meets the xmission or possibly a cooler line that runs by there.

@@standurst8762 this is interesting. I know the earlier duramax trucks even dating back to 2001 has trans cooler lines that were prone to leaking. Makes me wonder if that's the case here or something else. Seems to be a common thing with the 24s leaking too. Such a nice truck, hopefully GM does the right thing. But time will tell.

One reason I traded my 2020 off for a 2024 6.2 AT4X....Def issues for the last couple years. Truck drove fine however didn't feel like I could rely on it for much longer. Getting truck serviced under warranty was a pain too because of mechanic shortages for diesels as well as parts. I owned 3 F250s and never had problems with them mechanically (especially def!) they just drove rougher and my 2017 f250 had the death wobble as the reason for getting my 20202 GMC At4 Duramax. Emissions suck on all diesels however GM seems to have unresolved issues on there's that Fords do not. I hope I don't regret getting a gas again after 11yrs just figured it would be less maintenance. My GMC did get get good fuel economy but the in town driving isn't good for diesels at least GM diesels.

The leak is a bit concerning. The lights on the dash and what not I wouldn’t worry about if it seams to have resolved. However, a new vehicle shouldn’t give those kinds of problems! That being said at least it should be covered under warranty

But it falls short when parts aren't available, and wait times turn into months , while paying bi-weekly payments and monthly subscription fees!
      I'm going on 7 weeks waiting on a steering rack for a 2023 1500 ZR2.
Funny part GM has me in a 2022 ram as a loaner , wasn't a ram person, but I am enjoying it!
